8 day trip to northern Iceland October 2024
With a group of 18 hobby photographers we went to the most northern part of Iceland - with emphasis on ice. Throughout the video there is a small map where you can follow the approximate location of what is being shown.

Canon 5D Mark III Cinestyle
Просмотров 33 тыс.12 лет назад
A test of the Mark III with lots of ND filters and a graduated ND filter too. We have combined this with a test of the Cinestyle or cinegamma picture style profile. This time we are not as happy with the results. When using graduated ND we seem to experience quite a bit of noise in the dark areas - the uncorrected clips look nice, but when you color correct the noise becomes more prominent. Whe...
Første Canon 5D Mark III i Danmark
Canon 5D Mark III raw footage
Просмотров 37 тыс.12 лет назад
We've been out'n'about and testing our brand spanking new Canon 5D Mark III. Here's a compilation of different shots of the harbor in Odense, Denmark, at different ISO's to compare noise performance. Also notice the much improved aliasing in certain shots. This is of course shot in the high bit-rate ALL-I mode. The footage is ungraded and edited directly in Premiere Pro CS 5.5, and exported to ...
One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) Ad

This is a production made as a nonprofit project, because we think One Laptop Per Child and Nicholas Negroponte is doing some great work. Hope you like it by the way it is indeed a cool laptop.
Then it depends on who is editing it (; If you edit the 2,5K footage by itself you are able to digital zoom and get more detail. I've seen alot of comparisions on Vimeo where videos are less compressed than on youtube. You are able to see a detail difference. (: But yes it is amazing on the 5d too.
Well, in all comparisons between the first Black Magic Cinema Camera and the Canon EOS 5D Mark III the Canon won in my opinion. But in those videos, the BMCC's footage was downscaled to full HD, so if 2.5K footage gives any advantages, they were lost.
It's sad to hear. I'm a danish canon shooter too, and even my 600d impresses me when i use some nice glass on it. May i ask you, why do you think sony will be any different? (:
Better than the Black Magic Camera? Isn't that to overreact? I am impressed with the new raw feature on the Canon too, but the Black Magic Camera was born with it. The 2,5k resolution also makes a difference?
hey, i really enjoy your videos! i am a youtube filmmaker myself and will be using the cannon 5D mark III on my next short film and i want it to be really high quality so i was wondering how you export your final sequence from your editing program. thanks!
With Magic Lantern blowing off the lid with Canon Raw Firmware supplement that is fantastic, you can bet that Canon has taken notice of what is going on. Not defending Canon, but they are a business. Give it a little more time and we will see that they are going to create, something that will blow the competition out of the water. Still nice footage that really does not need to be any sharper than it is. You could have done better for a sharper look with a little more effort in post. Canon 5D!!
Neitral is better.
Since a couple of weeks. With the newest version of Magic Lantern (A free firmware addon) the EOS 5D Mark III can record uncompressed 2k 14-bit raw video at 24 frames per second. But this video wasn't shot using this brand new feature. So in this case "raw" just means "no heavy editing" :D But the Canon DSLR can actually shoot real raw videos now. And they are AMAZING! Give it a try, you'll be impressed. It's even better than the Blackmagic Cinema Camera!
But this video wasn't shot with Magic Lantern. Look at the date ;)
what song is this?
Yeah, I'm not a fan of the Cinestyle, too flat, IMO. When you grade it, it actually comes out worse. I hear the best is to lower the sharpening in camera and tone down the saturation, sharpen in post with your grading to really maximize the footage. I've had problems with the look of my MK3 and I doing tests on this as we speak, to find the best profile.
loved every 6400 and 12800 iso footage, very nice
Is that Norway??
Use ISO's in multiples of 160 (160, 320, 640, 1250, 1600). They produce less noise.
Virkelig fed video :-)
Hey there, do you know "Photo SFXart Tricks" (do a Google search for it)? There you will find a nice free video demonstrating how you can make outstanding photos. It made it easier for Daniel to make photos that have a jaw-dropping-effect after you take a look at them. Perhaps it will help you out also.
Please tell me what lens you used? Thank you!
Yes, like groomlake67, I have been using Flaat 10, and Flaat 11 on the 5Dmk3 it's a compromise between Neutral Flat and Technicolor. you can see a film that I shot completely with 5D3s and some 1Dmk4s using Flaat 10...and graded in Speedgrade. vimeo(dot)com(slash)49959104
i love the bokeh!
i'm crying inside right now my god i want one
Marken-threegan :) sorry im just pulling your leg ;) I dont understand a word so the jokes on me.
I cant beleive how good the 5DMKIII is, i played with a 5DMKII and had talked myself out of the 5DMKIII but damn it, this video makes me want III again lol, The scene where you go from 100ISO to 12,800 is just incredible! - 40D drops to its knees at 1600 and thats in stills!
I have never seen a better performance in low light than this camera, just look at the picture quality at iso 3200! this is incredibly unique. you can never compare a sony nex vg20 or vg10 with a canon 5d MKIII.
Hey there, are you familiar with "MagicSFXphoto" (just do a Google search for it...)? On their website you can watch a useful free video showing the right way to make amazing photos. This made it possible for Daniel to shoot photographs that have that jaw-dropping-effect any time you take a look at them. I hope it helps you as well.
wow great video : D can you tell me what song name that is? Above&Beyond.....?
lol there is no AF in video mode on canons or Nikons. Best you can hope for af in video is buying a Sony dslr like the a77, but I wouldn't recommend it as it has far too many disadvantages.
Ah ok I didn't know you were speaking from strictly a video standpoint. I have to admit getting good video that's flexible in all situations for under $60k seems almost impossible right now. I've been conflicted myself trying to find the holy grail of All-in-Ones, but it just doesn't exist right now. DSLR's rule stills and dedicated full featured video cameras rule footage. I'll be glad when the day comes that the two become one. Less gear to lug around =)
This statement has me baffled slightly. My first purchase into the photography/videography realm was a Sony NEX VG-10 and I have to say that I'm seriously disappointed with it overall as a hybrid that can take stills and video. Most people usually feel the same way. Then your comment is so like left field. It makes me wonder why you feel Sony is route to go in terms of DSLR's and specs considering Canon and Nikon are the pro lines.
search for philip bloom's review. All you need to do is a little post sharpening on the computer and then you will be super happy with your video result. Definitely better than 5d ii overall.
I used cinestyle for a little while on my 7d. I found that it is just too hard to get correct color back. Just because it looks raw doesn't mean that it is. It's just a low contrast/low saturation setting. You might get a little more room in post, but not much "REAL" room. I've been using neutral and have been happy with the results. In the future, I might try some other custom profiles that aren't as extreme as cinestyle.
the thing is that if you switch to another brand you'll have to reinvest in lenses. Bad thing if you already have more than 3 from canon. :(
im in the market for a dslr but am only interested in shooting video. how is the autofocus with fast moving objects such as a car or a person running? do you have to usually manually focus or does the 61 point autofocus work well enough? how was the mark II as far as keeping fast moving objects in focus? thanks
thank you very much
what kind of music please?????????????????
do you know which are the best isos for cinestyle in the 5d mark iii? i'm doing some test on my camera and all the time i get too much noise.
Yea I did a 5d mk3 test with neutral stu maschwitz settings vs. cinestyle and I noticed some really ugly noise as well with technicolor as well...have you found a good replacement for technicolor yet?
that the performer of music in your videos, here's a clip of the music finally can please about Mark iii
песня?
removing the filter ONLY creates sharpening..just look at the videos from James Miller..his videos shows how good Mark3 can be..its a shame that Canon fucked up this camera with to strong AA filter.
great colors and also great sharpness..thats weird because alot of Mark3 videos looks like hell..you know you can remove the OLPF filter to get even higher res and more sharpness..also what lens do you prefer of those you had in the video?
Excellent test idea! Thank you. We all look forward to hearing your results.
What music is this from?
Hi again. Could you comment on the sound preamp on the 5DMkIII. I know its not "pro audio" but I'm hoping they are much better than previous Canon DSLRs which were very noisy.
Great test shoot! Which picturestyle did you use?
Thanks so much for posting. ISO comparisons and the anti-aliasing on wires and dock are great to see, thanks. Can I ask if you used ALL-I or IPB on this recording?
Excellent test shots. Thanks for posting.
what music is in the back ground?
I believe “You’re So Cool” from True Romance, the same background music from a commercial for Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, a Nintendo GameCube game.
