2024 Update | A bit of work on my 2005 Chrysler Town & Country
Просмотров 64414 дней назад
After Greenbean started making noise, I needed a winter driver. So I pulled the 05' Chrysler Town & Country out of hibernation... back in February. Since then we've put 3,000 miles on the odometer and fixed a few things along the way. Figured it would be a good time for an update! Thanks for watching :)

I purchased Greenbean, my 1997 Dodge Caravan LE, at Auction in November of 2022. I did a lot of work to make it roadworthy again and put 14k miles on the odometer. U put new bushes in the subframe that u dropped and the lower control arm , looks like a rod coming out goes into. I think it was red or orange. What is that bushing called and where did u get it please. I have to get them for both sides
@michaeljackson8510 it's called a strut rod bushing. Rock Auto has the kit for like $10 includes both sides. Getting the old one out sucks because it's a 1 piece bushing where the new ones are 2 piece.
@@MNMoparMinivan man, u have been such a big help. Thank you.
@@michaeljackson8510 glad I could!! Keep that van on the road (:
Base models had manual transmissions.
@milesdyson a few of them did. Manual caravans are pretty rare. A lot of the low trim options had the 3.0 31TH combo
I know you said you wouldn’t ever pull parts to sell but dang it. I need that chrome trim around those headlights and I need that rear wiper arm. It’s impossible to find things anymore ugh..
@TFD1982 sorry lol. Check car-part and see if any non u-pull yards list any second gens. I usually just search by front left fender. Call around based on that. Drive up to Minneapolis and I'll give you a set of headlights with the chrome bezels and a rear wiper arm.

These cars are always the most weird to me, It is simultaneously maintained and neglected. The owner did not take care to prevent rust but mechanical maintained it, which makes no sense to do when the car will just disintegrate from unmitigated rust. Anyway nice video!

I think it’s really bizar how 1 van with just one look can have so many names. Without any other looks. Dodge caravan/grand caravan Chrysler town and country. Chrysler voyager Plymouth voyager/grand voyager And they all look just the same. Only another logo. I know more brands sharing the same platform and the same engine for a model. But than they make them different like other style lights and bumbers. Little different dashboard.. but this van is just exactly the same 😂 that’s one way to safe money
@jdnrotterdam2150 caravans and grand caravans have a different wheelbase. The "shorties" are 113" wheelbase and the "Grand" caravans are 119". Town & Country models had some unique options like digital cluster and 3.8 engines, and the crystal pentastar. But yes, the platforms were essentially the same.
Adjust the transmission bands.
@@PeteO-v4y originally planned too... didn't bother before I sold it.
@@MNMoparMinivan Cool man. It's often overlooked.
In my 20's I had a 98 with all the same features, except mine was Silver with a black leather interior and it had a 2.4l 4 cylinder engine. I religiously maintained it and never had a problem with it. Everything worked, and nothing rattled like other cars I had driven. This was a Nevada car so no rust, just some sun fade spots on the paint like any other southwest car. The Autostick was fun if you wanted to drive spiritedly. It was a great car, I drove it everywhere. Lots of memories with friends / family taking it on road trips. I loved that thing. Ultimately sometime in 2010 I had to sell it when the transmission was slipping and the car became undriveable. I couldn't afford the thousands to fix the transmission. Unfortunately due to the age, high mileage nearing 200k, and mechanical issues. Nobody would buy it. I ended up selling it to a salvage yard for a few hundred bucks and it sadly ended up in a place just like the video.
@chloride9794 cool story! That happens sometimes. 200k is pretty good for a commuter car. Hopefully it kept a few others on the road. Thanks for sharing!
