I have never wanted to see a directors extended cut of a video more in my life. There are SO SO SO SO SO many techniques displayed here only briefly that show a master at this craft. I have learned more in the few second of several scenes that I have in months of research in urushi craft (mostly that I have so much more to learn!). From sharpening the wooden tools, to mixing the base urushi, to mixing the urushi for applying the cloth, to mixing the earthen clay correctly! and so so so so much more. WOW I am in awe of these skills. I wish everyone understood that you are watching the work of a master on a dying art form. Thank you so much for putting this together.

I have two Nakaya pens, one in red and one in black. I’ve used both of these pens for many years (likely 10+ years). Yesterday I noticed that the section of the red one, had some sort of blisters near the nib. Since this is many layers of lacquer, I’m confused about what could have caused it. I thought they were water droplets at first but then realized they were hard and wouldn’t wipe off. What kind of solvent could cause this? Tom KC3QAC. I made an error, I actually have 3 Nakaya pens, the two mentioned earlier are piccolos with conical ends but I have a third (my first and significantly older) a full size cigar shape, all three are clipless because I don’t like clips. I love all three and hope there is a solution to the blistering and at the very least a means to avoid an future blistering on the two that are still pristine. Thanks again.
