My recently deceased organ teacher started me with French Baroque music with a number of the movements in this work. I intend to honor her memory by learning the entire work. This is an absolutely beautiful recording.

Love the registrations, the dotted rhythms, the ornamentations and nuances. A perfect interpretation and exactly how I feel French Baroque music should be played! Sure wish I knew what organ was used in this magnificent performance

Mr. Rubsam, I just discovered that you were also a composer yesterday while browsing the organ music scores at Performer's Music in the Fine Arts Building on Michigan Ave. The Schott edition of IN dulci Jublio 10 chorale preludes. Even though I don't play organ well enough yet, I enjoy reading scores of music I would like to play, 'sounding' parts of the music in my mind. Having heard this piece, my second RUclips video of a composition you wrote, I wonder what else awaits me, as I liked what I heard.

I had perfect pitch before I was born, since my mother was a professional, singing art song, cantatas and oratorios.

A little unconventional but definitely an enjoyable performance! Widor has in common with just a few of the other great masters (e.g., Bach), that when you play his music in an unusual manner, it is still good, just a different kind of good. Appreciate the great work!

Johann Gottfried Walther (* 18. September 1684 in Erfurt; † 23. March 1748 in Weimar) was a German organist, conductor, composer and musicologist. In 1707, at the age of 23, he was elected organist of the St. Peter and Paul Church in Weimar, where he became friends with Johann Sebastian Bach. Walther and Bach were distant cousins.

The instrument needs major restoration work and presently in storage in Chicago.

What a beautiful and rich sounding pipe organ. Let's hope that it may be placed in another building suitable for its true grandeur.
