Hi.....thanks very much for visiting the channel. And thanks for pointing out a possible error. I wonder if you have a different version that the one I have in my notebook? Here are the lines relative to "ejaculations" in the version I have, which came from a book of English poetry. Your version might be the correct one, and I've encountered many errors from published works. In any event, thanks for pointing it out. Hereto I come to interview a ghost; Whither, O whither will its whim now draw me? Up the cliff, down, till I'm lonely, lost, And the unseen waters' ejaculations awe me. Where you will next be there's no knowing, Facing round about me everywhere, With your nut-coloured hair, And gray eyes, and rose-flush coming and going.

I was here first, waiting, searching. When I found you, I did not consider that you would choose me back. Did not consider that at all. I may not be good at showing it, and things have been a little weird, but my love for you is boundless and forever. I hope I can show that to you somehow.

I don't think the romantic type of love is special. And I am started to think that the romantic type of love isn't real. I mean about more than half of romantic couples either break up with each other or divorce each other, while most platonic best friends remain friends until death. I think that having a platonic best friend is a lot better than having a romantic partner or spouse is. Having someone who's like a sibling to you is a lot better than having a romantic partner is. Also, you would more likely be much closer to a person who's like a brother or sister to you than you would be with a partner or spouse. People tend to fight with their partner or spouse a lot more than they do with a platonic best friend, and you never fight with your best friend the way you fight with your partner or spouse. Partners and spouses are just temporary. If you break up or divorce them, it's hard to go back to them. With your platonic best friend, you're going to make things work, because they are your best friend, they are your go to partner. It's always easier to make amends with them than it is with a romantic partner or spouse. Most people seem to be a lot more comfortable around their platonic best friends than they are around their romantic partners or spouses. A platonic best friend is one of the best things you could ever have. A platonic best friend can be someone you trust the most, and they can be your confidant and coach. People tend to trust their platonic best friends more than their romantic partners, and that's a fact.

I trust that this classic poem served to stimulate your thinking and reflections on the very nature of romantic versus platonic love. That, of course, is one of the fundamental aims of poetry. Thank your for sharing your thoughts, and thanks for visiting the channel.

I first happened upon the work of Richard Le Gallienne about thirty years ago when I read his Little Dinners With the Sphinx. I've now read about ten volumes of his writings (courtesy of Gutenberg and Kindle) and am currently finishing The Romance Of Zion Chapel (1898). There is no way of preparing for what will occur with you when you reach the middle of that novel and what follows. Perhaps the mixture of tenderness, uncompromising candor, stark fatalism and the most hopeless yet still vibrant of all hopes it contains is not for any but the strong of spirit and the all-generous of heart. Perhaps even then it will be too potent, too exacting, too unpitying and too pitiful. But it's worth the most dangerous of risks.
