Chalmers Bush Block project
Просмотров 952 года назад
Around 2017, on a sandy loam hill with limestone base on their Merbein vineyard near Mildura, Australia's vine-diversity champions the Chalmers family planted a bush-vine block to two drought-resistent varieties. Sicily native Inzolia was the chosen white grape, and Puglian favourite Negroamaro was the red. This incredible feat of imagination and innovation has now yielded its first commercial ...

The Shadowfax of life

He became vineyard manager in 2008 and assumed the mantle of chief winemaker in 2017. He's been intimately farming vines in the Macedon Ranges - one of the world's most-exciting spots for the Burgundy varieties - since the early 2000s. He's...

2019 Bernhard Huber Malterdinger Pinot Noir
Просмотров 3132 года назад
The 2019 season was a cracker for Germany - as its fast-disappearing Riesling made clear. So how did Pinot Noir fare? Conditions were pretty much ideal in the region of Baden - the country's best region for what the Germans call Spätburgunder. CellarHand's Ed Merrison checks in on the village wine grown by arguably the best in the business: Weingut Bernhard Huber.

2020 Scorpo 'Old Cherry Orchard' Pinot Noir
Просмотров 582 года назад
It's an evocative name and a beautiful label. Paul Scorpo knew the old cherry orchard on his property had magic dirt. So certain was he that he waited 16 years before planting it out, precisely and purposefully, with a special clone of Pinot Noir gardened in a very particular fashion. CellarHand's Ed Merrison visited Paul to find out more about this exceptional single-plot Pinot Noir from the M...

2019 Onannon Leongatha Pinot Noir
Просмотров 212 года назад
Australian pinotphiles seem to have a thing about the singularity of Gippsland. It seems strange, given the vastness of this region, that we should see a common thread in its Pinots - pretty, wild red-fruit purity with earthy spice. Onannon, established back in 2008, first bottled a single-site Pinot Noir in 2016, and this lovely wine conforms to that model. Will Byron - one-third of Onannon al...

Thank you for this very informative video. I live next door to Epfig and have only just learned about them. I’m going to need to investigate them further 🤗
Just got 6 bottles of Amon Ra 2018 on Tuesday and drank one bottle over two days. Thank you Ben Glaetzer. Fantastic fantastic wine.
A beautifully presented presentation of these three sparkling wines at Hattingley, Emma. I look forward to visiting next weekend for the tour. David Kraft, Barnet/Enfield.

Which food to have with
Hi Jet. This wine is very versatile with food - it will go very well with most white fish dishes, salads and very well with a fried snack!

Top presentation 🥂
Excellent presentation 👍🍾
Great review as always!
Thank you Ed & the Cellarhand team
Always a lovely wine
Good content, Ed!
Visited Huber last summer. Very nice range. The Malterdinger spatburgunder is extremely good quality for the price. The higher ranked spatburgunders are quite burgundian and have often been guessed as such when I serve them blind. thanks for the video
Thanks, Andreas. Yes, they're wonderful wines and we're really excited by the whites, too. Experience, flair and some really exceptional vineyard land is very much in their favour, and it's easy to envisage a very large audience of Chardonnay/Pinot Noir lovers enjoying them very much. Glad you enjoyed the video, and thanks for the comment!
Great info Ed
Great wine. Great video 👍🍷
Very informative lovely landscape
A beautiful property.
Always making us thirsty. What a lovely wine
Always a lovely wine
such a great tasting but done in the worst sound environment 😂
I’m enjoying the 2019 label and it’s extremely good value at circa £11-£13 a bottle here in the UK. Give it a go, not to be missed.
Thanks for the response! We have the 2019 landing in March - excited for it. Sounds like the Gunderloch team had a very good harvest.
Great vid and very informative. Big fan of Jacquesson. Salud!
Gracias! A lot of information to cram into one bottle - but what a bottle...
That has to be the best BdB made in Australia at the moment. 🇦🇺 🍾 🥂
Indeed. Has well and truly earned a spot in the Christmas rotation...
I haven’t seen Ben that excited since someone said “lunch at France Soir?”.
Nice content, about to check out some more of your videos! You deserve more subs, I think you should use SMZeus . c o m to increase your social proof!
Opened a bottle on Sunday and wow! Delicious!!
Awareness of the happenings in Armenia right now, viticultural and political, is important. Thank you for sharing 🍷
Love the polo 👕
Swirling, talking, and tasting at the same time. Skills!
Best breakfast wine ever!
Thank you
Thank you
So good to see the industry supporting each other where possible. :)
So good! Great insight into the region and the underrated (VALUE!) wines of Beaujolais.
So to mean that the wine is dry we may have trocken if it's not from vdp classification and GG if it's vdp classification?
The third and final video shot at CellarHand's 15th anniversary trade day looks at how history and innovation intersect at some of iconic Australian wineries, such as Mount Mary and Yeringberg. What have these producers taught younger names like Philippa Farr and Onannon? And then there's the way that each one of them - and SC Pannell is the prime example - inspire others while never ceasing to learn for themselves.
Over the past decade, the wine choices open to the Australian diner have opened up immeasurably, with superb styles from the world's most exciting regions readily available. At CellarHand's 15th birthday Trade Day, we asked a few sommeliers what this tremendous breadth of options means to them.
Featured in the tasting where this video was shot, were a host of imported wines from the CellarHand portfolio. Importantly for the Aussie diner - or for any winelover anywhere - this includes top wines from Burgundy, as well as Sancerre, Alsace and the Rhône. There are also wines from Oregon, California and Piedmont. And an area of special interest to CellarHand - and amply represented at this trade day in Melbourne - are some of the finest estates from all over Germany and Austria, with an exceptional array of Riesling and Grüner Veltliner, as well as some truly brilliant Blaufränkisch, St Laurent and Zweigelt from Austria's Burgenland region. Find out more about CellarHand at www.cellarhand.com.au. The video was shot and edited by Melbourne videographer and winelover, Chris Franklyn www.chrisfranklyn.com.au/
At CellarHand we have a number of biodynamic producers in our portfolio, including Domaine Leroy in Burgundy, Domaine Ostertag in Alsace, Burn Cottage in Central Otago and Weingut Wittmann in Rheinhessen. At our recent trade day, we asked three winemakers from Australia and New Zealand - Vanya Cullen of Cullen Wines, Steve Lubiana from Stefano Lubiana and Anna Flowerday from Te Whare Ra - why they employ organic and biodynamic practices in the vineyards. Find out more about CellarHand at www.cellarhand.com.au. The video was shot and edited by Melbourne videographer and winelover, Chris Franklyn www.chrisfranklyn.com.au/
