200k in sales is way different then 200k in profit/ income
I'm a software developer and planning to change to blue-collar because the future looks way more positive for blue-collar high-agility jobs.
Sad but true. It seems today that If a computer can do it, why not. Smh. Im sure that day is coming but as of now I cant phantom a computer being able to adjust and think and move the way tradesmen do in the types of scenarios we encounter on a daily basis. Might not be a bad idea. Definitely look in to it before diving end though but I’ve been in this field going on 12 years and it has a lot to offer depending on your goals. Best of luck to you sir!
I’m 32 and going to start applying to become a plumber
Nice! 👍
Municiple water/wastewater, new construction, service, water treatment, and well drilling. Learn it all.
You think 44 is to old to start but not union
Absolutely not! If you feel your up for it, Go for it. Age shouldn’t be your concern, it’s a labor-some job and can get demanding. If you think you’re physically and mentally there who cares about how old you are. You got this! 💯
@@LIFE-N-PLUMBING thank you
I want to do plumbing but i dont want to deal with toilets what should i do ?
Become a commercial plumber not service plumber, but either way it’s not as bad as you thing when you protect yourself properly lol In Commercial a lot of times it’s new construction but there are remodels that consist of existing water closet removals but it’s not that bad.
@@LIFE-N-PLUMBING aw man i wish i would of known cause im starting IT i was thinking of commericial or new construction but if i get invested in plumbing i might do that but for now ill stick with IT
Starting my apprenticeship from tomorrow✌️
Thats what’s up bro! Enjoy the journey 💯
i was 27 not doing much besides food delivery, strong sales backround of 6 years so i know how to deal and talk with people to an extent, i got into this as a career to fall back on at the very least. started in november and gone through a ton of shit and still dont know alot but, i will succeed and wiill be a bad ass plumber by the time im done. sales made me realize u suck ballz in the begining, and you get what u put into it. We will all get there with a will that cant be killed. oh yeah show up on time and work ur ass off at the right company, you will do great.
Looks like you already know what to do man that’s dope! Enjoy your journey bro, won’t be long with a mindset like that 💯
I just recently started a job in an office setting coming out of the Marine Corps thinking I would love it. Long story short, I don’t. I am highly considering finding a plumber apprenticeship and try to go down that path. Thanks for the information!
There’s a big difference between being in the office and being in the field. Having done both I would choose the construction field every time. Time flies when you’re having fun and my days fly by. Plus there’s nothing like knowing a trade in my opinion. Happy huntings man hope you find somewhere to excel 💯
I’m 40 just starting out, could I make a solid career from plumbing?
Absolutely, most people worry about age but it’s a matter of you looking the part. If you look like you cant lift 50 to 90 pounds you may struggle to get in. if your knowledgeable and know what your doing that can also give you and advantage. If you go through an apprenticeship that will also give you an advantage aswell. If you want it bad enough you’ll do just fine. I’d say Go for it!
From what I understand union apprenticeships are extremely difficult to get, like only a 15 or 20 percent acceptance rate. Is that true ?
My apprenticeship was known non-union so I wouldn’t be able to answer that for sure. I do have friends you have journeyed out non-union who are now union. From what I’ve been told it is not an easy process but over time (some months) they did get in. As far as becoming an apprentice I’m sure it’s just a waiting game and those who are persistent will eventually get in if you stay on top of it.
Really appreciate this im considering getting into this trade from the uk and sub to you do you have an email to contact you if that's ok to contact you thanx
Facts . We’re in a generation where people feel to entitled. We just have to work from the mud up. People are just scared to be uncomfortable and make excuses because of fear and they want fast money
What we want in life is always on the opposing side. Going after it only makes us better. 💪
@@LIFE-N-PLUMBINGYes sir. Loving the videos , keep going 💯
I’m 39 just got into plumbing after transitioning from structured cabling/ Fiber optics. Wanted to pick up another trade and execute. I have a great trainer teaching me everything in the field
That’s awesome! Enjoy your journey boss man! 💯
Plumbing is one of the hardest jobs so many different things to learn I was a residential and commercial water and drain retired 45 years in the field
Experienced tradesman with a RUclips channel and writing books! Good for you bro, killing it 👍
I appreciate you bro! Thank you! 💯 🔧
Hello Babe how hot does it get
Tell me why I should not get into plumbing
You don’t need someone to tell you why not to do something, people are naturally experts at that own their own
Nice work clean and clear information!
Thanks man!
Hey man Im about to start plumbing school in a few weeks but wondering if this trade is for me. Im not a hands on person but I am very analytical and detail oriented. Im a problem solver to the point where I cant let things go until I accomplished fixing it. Im also a cleansy person. My fear is the fact that im not a handy person naturally it will discourage me to quit. I'm also afraid of heights. I heard sometimes plumbers have to be in 12ft height.
lol that’s a tough one. I will never discourage you from joining because I believe you can have what ever you put your mind to get. With that being said, don’t let fear hold you back from anything. You’ve got great qualities to bring to the table and the fear of heights may get in the way but not enough to derail you. If they like you and you are teachable and on top of things, they may have you just stay on the ground for the most part. (Depends on company and your relationship) but If plumbing something you’re really considering and you already enrolled in school I’d say go for it.
You never know until you try find a plumbing company in town and as check-to see. Try as a apprentice You can ride with a tec act as a helper if you walk in with your mind open and ready hands and mind ready
My back hurts
And my knees
Properly lifting techniques are advised.
So I am getting into plumbing and have tons of sales experience. Can you elaborate a bit on what you mean by sales and plumbing? I am currently getting involved with my local union for plumbing and pipefitting because I love welding as a hobby and like the physical labor and geometry part of pipefitting and plumbing commercially.
That’s awesome! And as for the sales, I have been on both sides as far as commercial and residential. If you’re looking to sale which residential service companies would be your best bet. There are a lot of plumbing companies out there that offer great incentives as far as piece work or commission on services sold along with an hourly rate. It all depends on what your goals. Commercial, for instance being apart of a union in my opinion is pretty set in stone as far as there system goes. Unless you get on as a marketing consultant or start your own company there isn’t to many opportunities their for sales man. Hope this helps.
😊
I like it, it sucks working off a scissor lift & reaching for tools , fittings , fasteners,on the floor causing the thing to sway around while 20 feet in the air
That don’t say “to have the right tools for the job” for nothing. Thanks for watching👍
Great information
Thanks bro 💯
Thank you great video
I have pondered one of thoes carts but thought my 50lb tech pack would kill it fast. I'm always on the lookout for the right portable utility cart that folds that small (maybe aluminum?) Always on the hunt for ways to do things better!
We have that in common man, it can get pretty stressful otherwise lol
As a general contractor with alot of apartment maintenence to do I get it... I use a large garden kneeler seat that has a wood top to get my bag off the ground. It's also important that you don't damage peoples home by putting harder steel tools scratching people's furniture. Another thing I bring besides my kneeler and vpp tech pack is a large klein canvas bucket. You can line them with a trash bag but it it serves as a clean as you go (collapes down to no space). One thing you'll find out quick is getting lazy about things putting tools back emptying trash ect... so the klein bucket is small and I'm forced to deal with it there and then not just a bunch of plastic buckets full of catch all trash. I highly recommend thoes collapsible camp sink with a drain for working on plumbing. If someone has stuff if there sink you can load up the camp sink with water and test the thin wall pipes. The collapsible nature allows you to adjust the height under p traps and at $8 to $20 is a barging to not have to clean up a mess. Just some thoughts...
Great information! I will definitely look into that bucket, I love the trash bag liner idea I never thought about that, that would have helped out in a lot of different situations 👍
Klein Tools 5109S Canvas Bucket is the one I have and it holds 75lbs which is plenty and not horribly expensive. They have a drain hole in the bottom that makes them to clean. Best yet the material can get nasty and black from being wet and still won't die and is cleanable its a good investment.
Hey, nice video man I've been an EMT for 10 years, I'm looking to get into the trade. I've always been fascinated with plumbing and always See myself gravitating towards it. Is 35 too old to start? I just feel like im midlife, just like you. My father was a plumber but never forced me into the trade. I found myself hovering around all the time. Wondering is this for me?
35 is perfect, definitely not to old. I would just suggest learning as much as you can before your first day on the field so you don’t feel like your trailing behind, It’s a mental thing but either way if your committed to learn you’ll run across a lot of great mentors willing to teach. I made a Free Ebook that can help you get on your way aswell best of luck man.
Very important, valuable information.
Thanks man glad you liked it!
Thanks for the video dude! I don't know if it's just me but its a whole lot easier to get used to and better at concepts like this on my own terms in my own time. Especially with things like my familiarity with tools and understanding/ability to troubleshoot them.
Absolutely man, I know exactly what you mean. Thanks for watching man!
for all the young guys getting onto plumbing to let you know the old guys that are 50 plus years old are straight up assholes. they will belittle you, disrespect you, yell, bark at you if you cant handle that dont even bother. alot of older plumbers have that old school mentality where they thinks its tough to give you shit. dont get me wrong some people are cool but you will get those asshole foremnan.
Are you self employed? (Contractor or subcontractor) ? Or do you work for a business
I work for myself and an employer.
This is one of the trades that I’ve thought about getting into other than trucking. I’m 35 right now and I’m not the most domesticated person in the world. My question is how long are the classes and the training in order to become a plumber?
I went through ABC so cal, it was 1 class a week for 4hours and a 8hr Saturday class once every 3 months 4years long (It may have changed) Union I believe is 5 years but that’s all I know about them. Hope this helps
@@LIFE-N-PLUMBINGso you had to go to school for 4 years before even becoming an apprentice? That’s nuts
Sometimes when you are on the job working it's easy to have the level pointing in the wrong direction. I drew an arrow in the flow of the water and it makes things so much easier. I'm surprised these companies haven't done something like that.
Absolutely, I have seen that happen. Ive use the same type of level for years so I’m probably just use to it. 😎👍
Plumber: I use a Atlas 46 Saratoga tool vest. The ultimate tool organizer...
Nice! Ima have to check that out!
Googling that vest now
About 482,000 plumbers, pipefitters, and steamfitters are employed in the US. Proud to be one of them...was in construction for 5 years but now on the journey of being a residential service plumber. About a month in and still have lots to learn on the sales side. Keep up promoting the trade! I think its an extremely complex job and it takes more than just plumbing and if youre a good plumber youre probably good at a lot of different aspects of life
Logan I absolutely agree! Im on that same road, I have been babbling on the residential side for the past 6 months. It is a bit different from construction as far as the model goes but I love learning all aspects of plumbing especially sales. I wish you the best of luck man, thanks for reaching out.
Surprised this didn’t get caught before tile
We had more than enough time. I had a guy there alone I was counting on, and he decided to install anyway thinking no one would notice 🤦♂️
Look like all public restrooms
Thanks for the information I’m always interested in learning more about
You’re welcome bro! Thanks for watching!

Brotha I do have a question the kind of plumber I want to be is it best to learn all the plumbing like Service plumbing commercial plumbing residential plumbing Industrial plumbing and new construction plumbing I want to learn it all to were I get to the point of Instead of not knowing what plumber I want to be to Already like I want to be all of plumbing hope you understand my question brotha and do you have a email I can email you on
In my experience and opinion the most important thing to learn is code. I know people who struggle in service because they don’t understand or want to take the time to be learn code. I would definitely go the route that will prepare you and certify you. Joining an apprenticeship will set you up to have options later on down the line. I hope this answers your question. And best of luck 💯 My email is lifenplumbing@gmail.com
Almost done with trade school this video helped a ton 🙏
Went to Trade School in the Late 80 ties, Trained in Plumbing, Carpentry, Electrical, appliance Repair, some HVAC, Best thing I have ever did, as a Women I never Been unemployed since, I had a Gas fitter License, but I let it Expire, I wish I did'nt Let that Happen, anyway I Make good Money doing , Just small Jobs, Garbage Disposal, repairing and replacing Faucets, unstopping Drain Lines,, Toilets, repairing and replacing drain Lines, fixing Leaks, Installing Blinds, Repairing Drywall, Installing Lamp fixtures, and ceiling Fans, repairing appliances , Mounting TVs, replacing Sump Pumps etc, Obtained a Stationary Engineers License, while employed with State Government etc Blue Collar work Has been good for me!
That’s inspiring to hear. Having a trade definitely keeps you working. Companies are always looking for good people and side jobs are always there, thanks for sharing.
i just turned 18 and want to become a plumber or pipe fitter hopefully it works out and maybe in the future i can be my own boss and own my own business
It’s definitely a possibility, if you want it you’ll certainly get it, just stay focused. Starting young gives you a great advantage. Learn everything you can now and you have a successful company in no time.
I don't want to be no fucking salesman. I was going to go work for Mr Sparky electric and be an electrician but it's a scam over there. They're not paying their electricians that much they're paying the salesman that go out and sell the job that much. And I would love to be a plumber if it paid $200,000 a year but I don't want to be no fucking salesman
It’s definitely not for everyone. Do keep in mind my friend sales is the highest paid profession for a reason and we all have to do it in one way shape or form, most people don’t realize how often we actually have to sell ourselves everyday. Shady people aren’t the problem, deciding not to be a solution is in my humble opinion. So many people joining the trade for the wrong reasons not enough for the right reason and that’s why you probably view the industry in that way. But best of luck to you and whatever you decide.
