Fall-Liners
Великобритания
Добавлен 8 дек 2011
Hi, I’m Elsa Powell-Dooley, and I’m thrilled to introduce Fall-Liners, where I’ll be documenting the remarkable journey of two of the UK’s most dedicated and talented Alpine ski racers: Molly Butler and David Christey.
Fall-Liners will follow every step of their journey as they battle to reach the top in one of the world’s most thrilling and demanding sports. From breathtaking races to behind-the-scenes grit, we’ll capture it all during the 2024/25 season.
To make this wild ride happen, we need support - for myself and these unstoppable athletes - to help bring more media attention to this extreme sport. I’m currently on the lookout for sponsorships, and if you’re into collaborating with a team of hard working filmmakers and athletes who live for big dreams and even bigger mountains, let’s chat!
After all, if you don’t ask, you don’t get - so, here I am asking! ;)

Never here a groomer called a piste basher haha On the East coast of the USA we have a thaw freeze situation half the time (free baby injection a few times a week on the entire hill haha)… so everytime that happens and the cat hits the trail… marbles…
Alain Baxter?!?!
Haha not quite, David Christey
But I saw you ski :). It was great. And I love to follow FallLiners..
@@KennethLarsen100 cool! So glad you’re enjoying it! Were you at the race?
@ ohhh cool! Let me know if you’ve got any questions, would love to answers them
Did he win???🤔
I’d take them off and my socks walk the blocks and put them back on. Perfect dry socks boots that will still work in my bindings and I got there way faster than you 😂😂😂
Haha good plan 😂😂
What do the double gates mean? Thanks!
Just about the combination, coming out of a hairpin there’s two gates next to each other that you hit at the same time. Hope that makes sense
@FallLiners think so, thanks!
@ welcome! Can explain more in an upcoming video
@@FallLiners cool thanks :)
@ no worries 👍
Really appreciated this video with all of the insights and explanations. Fantastic vlog.
Thank you!!! Means a lot to hear 👍 let me know if you’ve got any questions to answers in the next couple of vlogs
Time for a whip round to buy that man some shin guards!
Haha 😂 the shinny game is getting crazy!
You need snow to ski. The situation on the video cannot be called an icy skiing condition as there is no snow on the slope surface. Therefore, you can’t call it skiing on ice. Imagine that you try to ski on the snow wearing ice skates… 😂
Hahah true 😂😂
I will save my money elsewhere, no way I will ever stop skiing.

Huh?
@@FallLiners exactly my thoughts. huh?
@ watch the full video on my channel to see the difference
is the woman you rode up the chairlift with is she racing Volkl Racetigers with Atomic Boots?
Yep some races mix and match depending on what they prefer
@ yeah I do volkl racetigers with Lange rs wc’s
@ good combo 🔥
@@FallLiners thanks
Loving the new mic & technical details! And looking forward to seeing the size of the jump to Europa Cup level in Spain. But never seen that before with boots - those steel plates. Is this a common racer thing? It must be very challenging for the poor old shins, even sandwiched away in the overlap of what is presumably already a super stiff 150 flex boot! Do you also supplement or size up the rear rivets (between the cuff & clog)?
Glad you’re enjoying the new mic! It’s not very common as it’s only just been a thing over the last 3ish years but I could imagine in the future it become more popular. Yep 150+ stiffness and nope he doesn’t 👍
I love the mic'd up inspection
Cool! 👌 did a little test, more to come!
Getting a bit light on those rollers, suck it up sunshine 👍👍🏴
👍👍
@ now star off Spanish FIS TV , keep charging !
@@happycoach2114 yeah was cool to see
David! Can you explain a bit the part where you say that you keep a lot of the burr under the foot? Seems a bit counter intuitive, I would've thought that filing with the diamond gives more grip, or have I misunderstood what you were explaining?
Hey ! Yes for sure. I do diamond but just not very much underfoot - on very icy conditions the ‘lip’ helps add some grip . The diamond normally makes the edge “smoother” that makes it a little less catchy and also keep its sharpness for longer . I prefer to err on the side of too much grip over too little so tend to leave a little lip on most of the time Hope that makes sense and answers your question ! Thanks for watching 🙏🙏
@@david.christey Interesting, will have to find a WC icy slope to try this once :D Thanks for the clarification, and please keep the videos coming. Great stuff :)
And David's back. Cool.. It was interesting to see that you use your poles to measure the distance between the gates. Maybe explain a little about your thoughts on tactics on how to attack different gatecombinations during inspection? I always try to make a plan, but theory and practice often end up being two different universes😮😮 Ski set up is also gold content. Please do some similar stuff on GS as well. Anyways, great to have you back. Looking forward for more training before ec. Send it🇧🇻🇬🇧
The mic up inspection is allways superinsperating. Maybe wearing a gopro with a mic during a faster " Italian inspection" could be done to,😃😃
Cool, glad you like the new mic, definitely get into more details with that! Yep will do a video on GS set up as it slightly different! Thanks for the support!
Love a good training day! (Maybe too much 😬)
The best…

Molly sends out such cute vibes and I hope to see her in the world cup soon. :) Shy greetings from Switzerland.
Doesn’t she 🔥 fingers crossed! Thanks for watching 🤘
@ I just saw she will be in Saalbach, is that right? Do you already know which disciplines she'll be doing? She reminds me a bit of Malorie Blanc. :)
Hi, I am in Baqueira Beret cheering on David (purely by chance - no stalking!) and he’s done well to get through Run 1 -Europa Cup. The order though isn’t reversed in run 2 - why is that?
No way! That’s cool, he’s going for 2nd run soon! Come say hi if your at the bottom 🤘the top 30 only is reversed for 2nd run
@ thanks for that - and I would be too embarrassed to say hi! But loving your work
Ps - it’s a race of attrition- DNFs everywhere!
@@stephenford4074 haha no stress, thank you very much

It’s fun
i think those shoes might be a bit more than $400...
Maybe..
The boots are SO painful fully buckled up 😢

Just wanted to say thanks for all the effort you put into these videos! I love this series and always look forward to new uploads :)
That’s so so kind of you! 😮 I’m putting my all into it this year, lots of planing filming and editing for one person! Well done Molly, but also you Elsa!! These vids are great and you should all be proud of them including David, but let us know if there are others we should thank and appreciate!
Thank you for your kind words and great to hear that you’re enjoying the videos 🔥 I’m putting my all into it so glad it’s coming across. So far just myself, Molly and David are the fallliners!
Well done Molly and the team on 29. People new to the sport or with no experience just can't appreciate how close the times can be and every 100th of a sec matters. Wrong wax, bit of wind, edge burr etc all adds up. Also just how the snow/ course varies from first run to last. It's a great journey you are showing 👍
Exactly its such a tough sport when it comes down to the 100th, as you say it all adds up! Glad you're enjoying the videos :)
@@FallLiners Video Journey is great. It's really hard to show steepness and sheer speed in the videos plus how hard that ice is 🤷♂️ . Also how intimidating it can be with everyone else seemingly knowing the ropes and fine details. Don't be thou as you'll find your own way 🥇
Great advice! Yes it’s a tough thing to show the steeps and speed you almost need a speed gage next to the racers hahah
@@FallLiners You are doing a great job keeping the vibe as it is. It's not easy and loads of editing in the background plus batteries go dead too far too quickly 🙈
Thank you! Appreciate it ☺️
Is that you good job 👏👏👏 u16 or fis or u 14
It’s Molly check out my channel for full videos. FIS and Europa cup skier
Only about 70 USD for a day pass?? Shocked becuse day passes out west in the US are typically 100-130 USD with racer discounts of only about 10-20 😔😔😔
It’s about £70 for a day pass in Europe. That’s crazy to be that much in the US!
I forgot to ask, who broadcast live in Europe cup?Fis? Some private channels?is it possible to stream it?
Yeah it’s normally streamed on the FIS app or website. When you click on the race the morning of there should be a link to the Live
What skis are you racing on?
Dynastar 🔥
@FallLiners have you tried other brands and thats what you’ve like liked and skied the best? Rn im racing volkl racetigers SL and I mainly race SL but there two years old and their starting to not be like as snappy and don’t hold up great on ice. I’ve also raced on a Head ski but they also just didn’t feel great. So, im open to any recommendations!
@ cool! I’m not sure what Molly skied on before and how she felt but I know she’s loving the Dynastar atm
@@FallLiners ok I’m going to see if I can find a place I can test them out
@ that’s a good idea! I think David wants to do that at the end of the season. There’s one with H&N in Austria in April
good to get some points, hopefully her bib number gets better over the next few races and hope she does good during world champs
Definitely good to get the first points in! Yesss so excited about World Champs 🔥
Congrats a lot to Molly! Heck, 2 points from bib 81 is supergreat. Daaang.🍾🍾 And the video is just as great. Watching your videos is like going to school. I learn something new each episode. Can't wait for the next ones. Good luck to all of you in Saalbach🇬🇧🇧🇻
She’s smashed it! 🔥 Thank you, that’s my aim with these videos is to show behind the scenes but also explain the niche things about this sport! So glad you’re enjoying them 👍👍
That was great, not bad from 81s to get to points!
Exactly! Not an easy thing to do with such a high bib
Interesting to see the top runners by way of comparison. But what is the main factor behind the difference in performance? The coaching (and do the racers get immediate feedback from same after their race runs)? The equipment & its prep? The on hill repetition? The off hill strength & endurance training?
I guess the main factor might be a couple things, more specialised coaches, one to one coaching. The tops skiers will also have ski tech who services there skis. They will also have better deals with ski brands and get more for free and I guess again with off hill training the standard is probably higher but not by much
I've only just found this channel but I'm so impressed by how touching out videos of this quality and frequency. And well done Molly, first Europa Cup points!
Thank you so much! ☺️ putting a lot of time into them. Molly is smashing it at the moment 🔥
