Everyone wants to be Rust and see himself in us cause he’s the edgy, philosophical misanthrope with a definite cool factor. Truth is though, most of us are Marty. Not bad men, far from it actually. Most of us probably have good intentions. But all it takes is a little less discipline here, a little more self indulgence there. And the next thing you know everything is all fucked up and all your hard work goes down the drain. Marty Hart is an embodiment of what pretty much every man wants and fears all wrapped up in the same character.
