I’m Catholic, and actually when you get engaged, we have to go through a series of sessions with a priest to make sure A) we both know what “the marital act” is B) are sure that THIS is the person we want to do that with and C) that we’re comfortable with it in the first place. That way, even if parents failed to raise their kids right in that respect, they know EXACTLY what they’re getting into and are encouraged to have a longer engagement so they have more time to talk it over with their fiancé and priest if they aren’t comfortable with it just yet.

And upon what I read from comments let me say : 1-We can say no whenever we want.( islam's teachings tells us TO be merciful and kind to eachother & there's a specific Verse on Qur'an on that but I don't remember it exactly so I won't write it because I'm afraid I would type it in the wrong sentence) 2-You're not forced to marry someone you don't like either from your family or outside it. 3-In our societies people under 18 have lots of stuff to do than marriage + teenager nowadays are not like teenagers back then in history,So No we don't get married as teenagers, Most people Now get married when they're above 18, Mostly 22 or 25 or above. 4-And Parents do give their daughters or sons education about the relationship (Sexually and about life in general) , before marriage most of the time,Or Maybe gradually as they grow up. 5-Do not blame the religion Islam for what people do wrong, It's people's fault,Not islam's fault. (Islam is perfect and do not permit any violation or domestic abuse) I hope my message is read by all people and that I made people understand our religion,us and our culture more.
