What is it with some woman I keep hearing interrupting everybody?! Who is doing that? Is it a board meeting or are every one of the board members being treated like concerned citizens that come forward with questions available instead of actual board members that partake in the group? "You get one question! Only one! Anymore and there will be severe consequences - the like of which has never been seen!" 🤬 Is this the German high court or parliament from the 1930s? Or is it a Berkeley Heights board of education meeting with somebody who is drunk on power? What is the harm in delaying a vote until March? Is there an agenda to be had here? Do board members have any power other than what her excellency, or whoever is running that meeting is permitting? Is there cake for them to eat?

Is it the same Mayor Angie Devanney WHO sent campaign flyers to the entire town supporting two candidates of her choice with NO disclaimer whatsoever talking about #transparency and accountability? Would love to hear her response on spending thousands of dollars on partisan campaign flyers using her official title.

Is the attorney allowed to engage in a discussion on a resolution without being asked to provide his opinion? How is his conduct of selectively speaking to the board member sitting next to him and whispering to board administrator and superintendent allowed? Is the board attorney from Cleary, Giacobbe and Alfeiri following the rules of professional conduct?

Pamela Stanley needs to understand basic procedures, screaming "POINT OF ORDER, POINT OF ORDER" to interrupt another elected member IS NOT allowed under Robert's rules of order. She needs to address all her questions to the chair of the meeting, also during the meeting we see her consulting with the board attorney and board attorney giving advice to a select few on the main table, how is that allowed? Board admin Mr.Juskiewisz for his 25years of experience seems incompetent in running the meeting lacking bare minimum knowledge of parliamentary procedures.

The mayor is absolutely correct. One should not use a personal grievance with an administrator in order to potentially vote "nay" against an unrelated judge. Any issues with that administrator sound a great deal as if they belong in a different venue.

As we approach the start of the budget process (or have recently started), Sai's comments beginning at 31:36 are spot on. Every board member should be given information as it develops in order to be knowledgeable enough to ask pertinent questions and catch any errors.

Courtesy and Subscription Busing - After August 10, 2023 Board meeting it is evident that entire board was NOT consulted and involved in making the decision to cancel subscription busing to Mountain Park, MKM and Columbia Middle School. Based on Vice President Joy Young’s report at the meeting on how the finance committee met and took a decision to cancel subscription busing is a probable violation of our district policies. How is it fair and #equitable to offer courtesy busing to 337 students but deny subscription busing to 41 students? How is it that driver shortage is uniquely impacting the subscription busing service only and there is ZERO impact on courtesy and mandated free busing? Why does the superintendent of a publicly funded school district gets to pick and choose who gets free courtesy busing while charge $1000 for the exact same busing service? (Both courtesy and subscription busing students do NOT qualify for free state mandated busing as students live under 2 or 2.5 miles to schools) Also the Superintendent, Board president Angela Penna and Vice President Joy Young refusing to answer questions until the first week of September while busing routes are finalized for select group of students is another probable violation. The fundamental question is why the deflection by the majority of the board including a retired educator then denial by committee chair followed by red tape? What are they trying to hide? #transparency #accountability

Board Attorney Matt Giacobbe flip-flops and jumps into whatever puddle of opinion suits him. It’s very clear there is NO such law preventing a board member from amending a resolution. The board attorney seemed clueless as to which state statute prevents the splitting of a resolution. The board attorney’s initial objection stating the superintendent recommends the resolution and hence the board can only vote yes or NO is ridiculous. The agenda for the board meeting belongs to the elected board members and hence they have the ultimate authority to amend a resolution, vote, or table it.

(Shauna here) Based on feedback from this episode, my issues with the Collaborative Consultative Model are not a criticism of the Special Education department. I want to make clear that the model does work for some kids. However, for others it does not work, and I know that we are not the only ones. This is not a call to eliminate the model, but to make sure we aren’t doing harm with it. I also want to take a moment to personally thank Kevin Morra, the Supervisor of Special Education, for his compassion and help in working to fix what was broken for my son.

If asking for accountability on how public taxpayer dollars are being used efficiently to run our schools makes one an angry parent. So be it! It’s our children’s future at stake here. For example - one should ask how many students dropped calculus in high school this year? Why we cannot get textbooks for science and Math for $63 Million dollars?
