"Learning to Lead, Leading to Learn" by Katie Anderson | Book Trailer
Wow, Katie, your recommendation led me to buy this book, and I can't put it down! Transitioning from operations management to sales has been nerve-wracking, but reading this has really boosted my confidence. Thanks for sharing your insight!
Nice video
🎉🎉❤❤
❤❤
me pressing the wrong button closing them right before they get to the doors
Nice video ❤❤
Hello mam
Isn't this just normal all over the world??
Do people not already do this? I always go for the button instead of awkwardly flailing around the door
Thats cool!
An excellent start for a great Learning Journey.
Going to gemba and growing connections around the world!
❤❤
I can't wait to be part of this experience in November!!!
Looking forward to having you part of the November 2024 cohort Mark! #JapanStudyTrip
7-11 is disgusting 🤮 trash store
Damn I would like to be on your Japanese trip!
Maybe one day we can make it happen! 🤞
Many nuggets of learning here! Mark’s book, Measures of Success is a profound read and helps to create calm amongst the normal noise and to react on signals only. Terrific stuff, and really enjoying these podcasts, Katie.
Thank you Lorne! I'm happy to hear you are enjoying the podcast overall and this episode with Mark Graban in particular. I started the podcast with leaders like you in mind as my main audience, so hearing that the content is resonating means a lot!
Thanks for sharing
You’re welcome! What resonated the most with you?
What resonated with me the most: when your coach said Kate it's not about you, and what you think... It's about people and what they think. I felt the pain of the moment Thanks again Kate
Dear please ck Your mail Box
Doesnt the amount of whitebelts, greenbelts, blackbelts and who gets the training show plenty of the organisations intentions regarding continous improvement?
Thanks for your comment and for watching this podcast episode Lars. Yes, the number of people trained absolutely can represent a commitment to continuous improvement. The risk is if the training is focused mainly on the tools and technical side of improvement and not the skills it takes to lead change, facilitate, sustain, etc. Or a risk if improvement is seen only the role for those with “belts” or a certificate of training rather than owned by all, and the role of those trained is to grow, what I call, a Chain of Learning. Keep listening in and sharing your comments and takeaways!
Stabilize...like a jet coming out of a tussle...heading into a war.
LOL - indeed! Stability is critical to be able to manage the chaos.
Ok I like it👍
Katie Anderson's Chain of Learning podcasts are something you need to see/hear if you care about developing a Lean /continuous improvement mindset for yourself, as an individual, or more broadly throughout your organization.
Thank you Stewart for being an important link in my Chain of Learning!
l listened and learnt esp this one "do something you will never consider doing but something the person you want to become will do" thanks
Kbjanderson. Wow~amazing !talk to you soon, 😍
thank you~that is breathtaking -🖐
Thank you! I love darumas and the daruma temple!
Just keep testing, experimenting and continuosly getting better, this Lean startup will be great. 😊
Thank you! I'm continuing to iterate and learn more from each one.
Sorry A3´s
Love to see your A3 for the podcast 😁 exciting
I didn't do an A3 for the podcast...but definitely went through the thinking process.
Dear Katie (really liked your book and looking forward to the next one ;) ), please please get some things on the walls and such audiophile stuff… maybe talk with Ron at Gemba (he has the best sound of any podcasts in his studio, of course he has done it for some time). Looking forward to what you can bring.. I think something like Srum master toolbox but with Lean could be very interesting (Though I get overwhelmed by daily podcasts, beside audiobooks, and music, and all the other stuff). But something tactical down to ground, how your guest learned this and that and improved it or it didnt work in another setting. (This is getting long now).. But I really feel there are some fields out there which are underpresented, I think construction need alot of improvement, but it seems they dont like learning.. The Lean construction podcast is nice but very sparce in their regular podcast lately with Dick Bayer (Also alot of old top guys on his podccast and not people on the floor, which seems a bit off. How is Lean in Construction in Japan? Well as a strategy you could take the oldest guys in Lean first so you dont run out plus you never know when the will pass away. Your first podcast should ideally be with Mr. Yoshino (He dont have to play the banjo, but he can pratise his english 😊). Anyway I am sure you will come up with a great plan and execution.. Very excited 4 you. 🎉
Thank you for your message.I'm getting the room more officially set up for audio recording - especially with a good mic and equipment. Iphone selfies don't have the same quality. Check out the trailer! share.transistor.fm/s/ac428fe8
This is really cool, Katie! Thank you for sharing your voice and wisdom.
Thank you for watching @FelipeEngineer! I always appreciate your thoughts as well.
Thank you Felipe! I'm so excited to be *officially* starting a podcast! The trailer is up now! share.transistor.fm/s/ac428fe8
You are very Good Speaker Katie Anderson
Nice Interview
Thank you for watching @arebeen!
Hi Katie Anderson, Your video content is really wow.
So great explanation ❤
Glad you think so @Larsbording! Thank you for watching.
I loved the samaritan story… funny when you reflect on it everyone wants to help.. (I remember I had the same mindset, but then my previous manager learned me that some people are just mean and want to do their worst to others for no apparent reason except that they have the power to, but as a Lean mindset yes, most of the organisation should be made from the system of the culture.. That is how we can change worse to a little better, hopefully). 😊
Hi Lars, thank you for watching the interview and commenting. The Samaritan story was really interesting to reflect on.
Excellent interview! Loved the story about Dick in Brady, MT. I was privileged to also be from there; I knew Dick and I was a classmate of and am still great friends with your mom.
Hi Linda, thank you for watching the interview and commenting!
How can I follow online ? And have the opportunity to win a book ?? ..really interested in the A3 classes..
Hi Lars, thank you for watching! You can follow us both on LinkedIn. This book giveaway has ended, but you can get the books on Amazon!
Ben, I would suggest that everyone in the organization go through a class on the basics of lean and Six Sigma. The leaders could benefit from additional training covering the material in my book and the lean Champions would benefit from training in facilitating a team through Process Mapping and Problem Solving. I hope this helps.
Intriguing ideas-John what training specifically do you advocate?
Improvement Starts With I! 🙂

Thanks for the comment and for subscribing - so glad you enjoyed the video!
It takes me a while, as most things do, to internalise a new method or way of thinking that is off-kilter from a generally accepted way, such as thinking about SAPD instead of PDSA. I don't know if you are advocating the absolution of PDSA in favour of SAPD, but in my mind, SAPD makes a whole lot of logical sense. PDSA is confusing as we start with the word "Plan" which means not to study but plan the next steps. I am going to go with SAPD now...
very simple algorithm!
Thank you for the comment, I'm glad you enjoyed the video!

Thank you, Katie, for making this insightful and informative video! Your examples of discipline and sacrifice are "felt" in this video! You've certainly helped my greater good by deepening my understanding of kaizen. I hope to share this understanding while improving with intention and direction every day!
You are so welcome! Thank you for your comments and please do share your take-aways with intention and direction every day.
Great video. Concise and drives the point home. 🙏
Glad you liked it! Thank you for commenting.
Thanks Katie. I was recently debating with someone on the value of "plus/delta", and I think this video gets to the heart of it. I agree that assumptions often get in the way, and that it's helpful to talk about assumptions ahead of time. But, it's often very hard to know what we're assuming, so simply asking for assumptions doesn't work. Have you seen certain trends that would be helpful to dig into for assumptions?
Hi Joy - thanks for your comments and I'm glad the post resonated with you. I actually first learned this process back when I was at PAMF. My suggestion in starting to dig into assumptions, would be to ask -- "what must be true..." (or if looking backwards..."what did I assume would be true...") to have the outcome I expect? This can help us make visible the things we might think are implicit.
💜
I really thanked your sharing and insights.
Thank you Shari!
Thank you for the video. Very good insight. Currently studying for an exam in a couple months and I’ve hitting plateaus over and over. And this is exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you very much for the insight - wonderful. My next step is figuring out how to most effectively and efficiently go about the study-adjust phase. Im headed to your website now, if you have any suggestions or instruction as to where I could/should go next to get that information, please feel free to share! Thanks again!
Thank you for your comments and I'm happy that the video gave you some insights! There are many articles on my website that dive into problem-solving thinking and asking effective questions! I also have a course with Isao Yoshino about this topic, which you can find here: kbjanderson.com/courses/
Really appreciate this insight. Very helpful, and I will use this in the future
Thanks Duane - I'm happy that the video and article helped inspire you!
