It's been 24 years since that tech demo and, honestly, I think games have barely passed this demo. Like most games with large indoor and out door environments look almost identical to this demo, but with more swaying grass. Animations today don't look a ton better. Lighting has improved greatly, and the facial animations have taken a huge leap. Overall, though, I feel like today's games are just HD versions of what we saw in that tech demo.

Wish they would have rendered the M42 uniforms in CC2 for the flash back scenes. The m43 uniform just pulls me out of the immersion

I remember watching this when it first came out and I was absolutely blown away. I will say though, bloody hell when Unreal 2 actually came out it didn't look anything like this. In hindsight the character models were somewhat kind of close. But the world and buildings? F*** off lmao. The engine was clearly capable of rendering this stuff, but definitely not in real time with the hardware released at the time. Keep in mind when this trailer came out the GeForce 2 GTS was basically about as good as you could get.

The trailer was better than the entire game. It was a shame it was so inconsistent, polluted. Yet, a cool game, but we expected a better thing. Its shame was not so bad as what they did with UT4.
