Mooring Winch Brake Rendering Test-A systematic approach for understanding the concept.
This Video is developed for understanding the Winch Brake Rendering Test in detail. In this video a systematic approach has been adopted for clearing the doubts related to Brake rendering test and other related terms which often create confusion among shipboard staff while carrying out this test.
This video is bit lengthy as we have tried to cover all important aspects related to this test. for the ease, we have divided the whole video in 6 modules. The respective Module no. will be displayed throughout the video so that you can always track the progress of the video.
The video is very useful for both, Ship staff as well as shore use (Shore workshops, Drydocks, Marine surveyors etc..). Thi...

It was really thrilling to walk through Jungles of Mount maunganui, Tarunga, New zealand. it was a fun in loosing the correct track, getting a way out from jungles without the aid of GPS and Mobile signals. Though we had torches to deal with dark as the sun was about to set. we also marked the west side as a escape route in case we get lost completely.

It’s covered to protect the rope, d-shackle and steps from weather because ladder is made of Manila rope and combination of rubber and wooden steps which may get deteriorated due to exposure to weather and sea water.

    Can you please tell me which is embarkation area for boarding lifeboat. Where boat is stowed or main deck level?

    • @prakashagrocompany8868
      @prakashagrocompany8868 Год назад

      I feel it depends upon the type of davits and boats. An open boat if boarded from stowed position is riskier as person may fall off when the davit swings out from it's stowed position where this is not the case with totally enclosed lifeboats. if the davit is arranged in such a way that for lowering the boat it doesn't need to be swing out (as in case of oil platforms) than the boat can be boarded from the stowed position. in that case it doesn't matter whether the boat is an open boat or an enclosed boat.

    Sir why exactly winch brake testing to check the thickness of liner ya to avoid rope getting slip on which we tighten the brake as per the marking so due to liner thickness decreases so markimg changes so if we tight as per wrong marking brake will slip no??

    • @marinetecs4436
      @marinetecs4436 2 года назад

      Sir, you are correct that if the brake liner is worn out it will affect the tightening and if you tight the Brake flowing the previous makings, chances are that Brake may slip off earlier. this is one aspect and other aspects which can affect the brake tightening are *Wear down or play in Brake linkages and tightening mechanism. * weardown of Brake drum etc

    • @marinetecs4436
      @marinetecs4436 2 года назад

      Dear Faey Appreciate you for responding the video, your suggestion may hold good in specific cases such as where the new type of hook system is used as in cases of “Viking Hook” also called as “Nadira Drop in Ball system”. In this new kind of system the falls having ball shaped ends are attached to the securing arrangement on boat at last. Due regards to your suggestions I would like to insists that while operating any safety equipment onboard always follow ship specific makers operating procedures. In my video, we have followed makers operations procedures where it doesn’t allow reseting of hooks before bringing the links in position. Hope it is correctly justified.

    We have got following FAQs pertaining to Winch Brake Rendering Test. 1. How frequently the brake rendering test is carried out? Ans: Initially the test is carried out at construction stage and there after this test is carried out annually however the frequency of test can differ and may further depends upon the company’s Safety Management System or any maintenance Job is carried out on Brake system. 2. Whether the test is the requirement of class? Ans: After the ship delivery this test is not the requirement of class. Class is involved at design/construction stage and during initial certification of mooring winches and windlass. 3. After Ship delivery, whose requirement this test is? Ans: The test is the requirement of Rating/Vetting/SIRE inspection organisations. 4. Is the MBL (Minimum Breaking Load) as explained in video, same as LDBF (Line Design Break Force)? Ans: Yes, it is same. LDBF is the latest term used by Mooring Rope manufacturers in place of MBL.

    in the end of the video, you said that the oxygen bottle in Hospital or any other bottle not recommended to charge by this compressor. Can you show me, what is the document say about that? many thanks.

    • @marinetecs4436
      @marinetecs4436 3 года назад

      Thank you van for responding the video, For documents I need to check my archive where documents are present related to onboard incidence of explosion of medical oxygen bottle when tried to charge with the help of SCBA compressors. The reason of not charging medical oxygen bottle is simple, shipboard medical oxygen bottle contains liquified oxygen which is highly inflammable. When these bottles are tried to be charged directly with the help of SCBA compressors the hot air from SCBA compressor causes rapid increase of pressure inside the medical oxygen bottle this happens when some amount of liquid oxygen left over in the bottle. Rapidly increases in bottle causes explosion in medical oxygen bottle. I hope this should suffice. Please give me some time to share the concerned documents.

    Why Fuel Oil tank Does not require IG, However, when we load it as Cargo on Tankers, we require IG? THANKS.

    • @marinetecs4436
      @marinetecs4436 3 года назад

      Thank you Mr. Vaibhav for responding the video. IG is required for tankers above 20000DWT, There are two main reasons 1. During cargo discharge the atmosphere inside the tank to be kept below Lower explosive limit ( LEL). The level/amount of explosive gases in case of tankers is much higher than the fuel oil tanks. 2. During cargo discharge generation of static electricity is another problem which is required to be dealt with. Static electricity acts as the ignition source. In case of fuel oil tank generation of static electricity is not there. Hence there are the two main reasons because of which IG is not required for fuel oil tanks. I hope this should suffice. • @marinetecs4436
      @marinetecs4436 3 года назад

      Good question indeed Sahil, It is the significant wave height which governs the minimum speed requirement of life/rescue boat winch. In simple terms, minimum speed is required to lift the boat from water as quick as possible and by doing so waves effect on hoisting could be minimised. Thank you so much for posting your comments
