Suggestion for Buying a truck. DO NOT BUY AN INTERNATIONAL BRAND TRUCK PERIOD! Why? Because their parts are the MOST EXPENSIVE! Why is that you ask? Because close to 90% of their parts are proprietary!!! In other words YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE STEALERSHIP to get YOUR TRUCK'S PARTS!!!!!! If you don't believe me just ask a Truck Insurance adjuster. STAY AWAY FROM INTERNATIONAL even if the truck is used or what you think is TOO GOOD OF A DEAL TO PASS UP!! DON'T BUY IT!!!!! Not in this Depression economy!

Thx. Parts of his business model I agree... If it works, ok. I have subscribed. Thanks again Semi truck driver
You guys are doing good work at bob tail. I run a reefer company cross border Canada USA and I enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work
Thank you! We really appreciate it!
That accident going to get him dropped
U gotta get gl to protect your business my driver got attacked he protected hisself and now we are being sued and the gl covers attorney costs and what not. If they pay out that should pay that also.
Great advice
Have you ever been in a similar situation?
Great interview. These topics are integral to building a successful business. I love the 60/40 split. We started in June and have a contract with a large retailer but also rely on spot market. Getting contracts is very very difficult. Trucking is margins are slim. >10% profits is winning in this industry. We did the boots on the ground approach. It was not fruitful for us. We went to 55 clients. We did win 1 client and she did refer us. So this strategy does work.
Thanks for listening! We'd love to hear more from your perspective. Interested in joining us on the show? Email hello@bobtail.com. We'd love to have you!

to many brain dead people with this electric crap and climate bs
I swear every time theres a traveling "upgrade" they're nust halfway to the next train
Look, money will be the deciding issue here. A few lawsuits and things will change quickly. 🤔 This is American insanity. 😮
This guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about, sorry. “The Tesla semi needs 2.2 Megawatts that’s why we built a hybrid.” Doesn’t make any sense. 1) the semi CHARGES at 1 MW and when it’s running (when a hybrid would actually be relevant) it doesn’t do anything near that. Also Tesla has over 100 500-mile semis on the road today and is currently building a factory for 25,000 Hybrid might make sense but idk, 500 miles is plenty
You don’t drive a truck do you? I drove 600 miles yesterday and that’s just a normal day for me.
Sigh different applications he is talking about vocational trucking not freight hauling.
Hybrid has one advantage most don't think about. The trucking fleet for this country is huge. With a hybrid fleet across America every hyrbid truck is a generator for grid support. Basically a tanker for electricity. Given natural disasters, high energy demand during summers etc... Trucks can be energy transportation along with cargo. It also could act as a mobile energy storage grid, for additional income.
electric semis can do the exact same thing but more efficiently. Electric cars already to vehicle-to-grid… hybrids don’t
Fair disclosure: I'm a huge fan of Edison Motors diesel/electric trucks, so I'm biased. My observation is that OTR should stay diesel only, city dreyage can be full electric, and heavy vocational trucks are the best use case scenario for diesel/electric like Edison. Deboss Garage is making an Edison retro fit kit for pickups. Edison is a huge proponent of common sense "right to repair". So their trucks are designed by mechanics using the most practical parts they can find.
Wow 1.5 they they already taking a arm and a leg from us. Jesus 😩😩😩
Has nothing to do with carriers renting their box trucks. That’s the best way for people to start & what I’m doing.

I would like a new video pls
Loved the episode!
Great interview! 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Also, what about the environmental impact when all these batteries go bad where will they dispose of such big batteries? It’s not like a small Dura cell battery. A diesel semi can be rebuilt with less environmental impact.
No one is talking about what it will take to put out an electric truck fire look at what they go through with Tesla and other electric vehicles
Amazing question -- we just talked about this with a recent guest we're going to publish an interview with next week... stay tuned!

Great content loves the info, how can we get in contact with Paul Kangethe or his website?

Excuse me, I have a 2007 Hino box truck, excellent, equipped with a full cabin, and in very good condition. I bought it and have not used it yet because I cannot leave my job now. How can I operate it without driving it? Are there companies that will trade with me or how can I get a contract with a logistics company that will operate it and take care of it, including a driver and everything, and give me a salary?
There is a spectrum of options from starting your own trucking business and hiring a driver and a dispatcher to renting the truck to a local trucking company that needs it. But remember there is no such thing as "passive income" in trucking.
@@thisweekintrucking What companies can rent from me?
@@TheEgyptiankinginAmerica We don't endorse any service specifically, but a quick search will bring you to companies like Fluidtruck and Coop by Ryder. You might also want to get in touch with carriers in the area. Be sure to do your own research and seek out reviews on these services before trusting them with your box truck, though! You want to be sure whoever rents your truck takes good care of it.
@@thisweekintrucking thank you pro🙏

Gary It's just because I'm a fool and can't pronounce anything properly

I like all the recommendations in this video/interview. Bigg Vic ( Victor ) has some great insights and I appreciate his answers. Does he have a website for his business that I can look at to get ideas for my own. Will definitely be getting business cards made up and go the local route :)
The best way to get in touch with Victor is here on RUclips! ruclips.net/channel/UCqHt-uyqFpfGPfgQ6A3HEzQ
A 10%-50% that could be shared between shipper/receiver and carrier to serve their bottom lines, lower product shelve cost, improve R&Ds, timely maintain and renew equipment, and pay better salaries. Technology, regulations and human intervention could help to eliminate outdated, non-transparent, and fraud vulnerable middleman. I guess writing a research paper on pros and cons of brokerage could prove a lot. Even for government it’s way to better and profitable to collect taxes from shipper and carrier only, because 2 will wright off much less then 3.
Good show!
