    Just a suggestion. If the bolt doesn't want to go in, use a socket and turn the bolt in instead of beating it with a sledgehammer. How did this clown pass a ham test?

      They have Anderson Powerpuff connectors that have about a 6 inch lead on and you can twist several of those together to make a group of connectors connected to one source and they are wonderful

    I used to have a book called back to basics, by readers digest, any way they showed erecting a tower with a pickup and a "gin" pole situated so as the truck pulled the tower up the gin pole pushed the pull line upward, so the cable picked the tower up rathet than stressing it with straight pull. Of coarse it would take some planning but it could be figured out, i saw flex on both ends past the pull line, when it was at 45° or so. Edit but thank you for posting nice video.

      Len, thank you for your comments. yes a fulcrum would have helped but with the load it was a success and I really like this tower. As a followup we had a very sever storm come past and took the top 10 feet off my tower. but 60 feet stayed with out issue. so now i have 60 feet instead of 70 feet. But for uhf/vhf it still functions. and I have the inverted v antennas still up at the apex at 60 feet. Thanks again. Dan

  • @jcims

    How is this holding up? They don’t look built to climb, do you bring it back down for service? Looking at one for network access out in the woods but might add a beam and 2m omni to get a bit more value out of it.

    If you are using stranded center conductor you can carefully remove about 3 strands and it should fit the center ok. Just make sure you have a good solder application on the wires that are installed in the center. There are some PL259 connectors that are cheaply built. Look on ebay for a package of 10 that have good quality material.

  • @AGeekNamedRoss
    @AGeekNamedRoss 10 лет назад

    What brand connectors are you using? I had an issue yesterday with some Wilson 400 coax, where the center conductor was slightly too large to go into the connector's pin channel.

  • @Supercazzola
    @Supercazzola 10 лет назад

    nice video, but i question the safety of your solder method. Looks like some could fall and burn your bluejeans, which were featured a lot in the videos. Maybe using a vice would have been a good idea, as well as safety glasses.
