So if you removed the window masking over the majority of the window immediately after painting it would not have cracked?

I used to do work on retail stores and dollar tree stores would install black film with their logo on storefronts to block office areas or storeroom space and the sun heating up the black film would shatter the double pane glass due to excessive temp rise between the two pieces of glass!

OK we have nice lighting systems like this at work (stationary engineer here) for commercial building lights. But for a house I do t see the point lol. I have regular light switches n my house, a few are dimmers, works fine lol.

It’s not because the frame is now black but because they let it bake in the sun with the paint/masking still on the glass. That gives a huge temperature difference between both sides of the glass.

It’s a bad design and bad glass as well. Mostly bad glass😅

Makes you wonder why manufacturers pay so much for design engineers. Things are given to you at their optimal performance. Obviously was green to prevent this exact thing

Brother did the same thing on a big roof window. Also cracked due to the heat

You cannot paint white vinyl windows black. The windows will warp with heat causing water to leak in. Had to replace all of my windows.

It's highly improbable that the paint or film itself caused any cracks. It's more likely the paint application revealed existing stress cracks that were already in the pane.

We have use liquid masking successfully for Interiors and Exteriors bur definitely heat plays a big role on exteriors please read directions on can. Dor exteriors apply a little heavier and remove as soon as paint dries same apply for Interiors. Good luck.

Let us know youre incompetent without saying incompetent. Its literally the job while painting to think of the effect of paint while painting.
