In today's video, I made a Class A Shay locomotive bougie. If you don't know what Shay locomotives are, they are geared locomotives that were used mostly to haul logs. There are three main types of geared locomotives. - Shay - Heisler - Climax I am currently making a Class B Shay locomotive, which probably will take a whole century.

Today, i’ll be showing you how to build Walschaerts, or Heusinger valve gear, a common valve gear on steam locomotives. I’ll be using a 0-6-0 (0 leading wheels, 6 driving wheels, and no tailing wheels).

yes old video i know, but you can actually make it thinner by spinning around the motor connected to the wheel and building a less smooth wheel around it. its a little bumpier but much more space saving if you have a larger train
