Weekend Writing Vlog: Messy Middle Musings
Messy middles are the bane of my existence! I haven’t yet conquered a single messy middle but we are doing it this year, baby! Join me on my weekend learning from the pros on how best to deal with being lost in the middle of your book.
What are your messy middle tips? I watched Alexa Donne’s video on Messy Middles and the good news is I think I am doing a lot right intuitively. For me, the biggest challenge is just to finish the book and see what happens after. That’s why I am doing this writing challenge to get myself to that finish line by the end of December.
If my book ever gets published, you’ll be able to judge how well I crafted the middle 😊 Otherwise, it doesn’t really matter, does it?

I deleted my book draft! NaNoWriMo story from writers' hell!
Просмотров 182 часа назад
I can’t believe I accidentally deleted a week’s worth of work on my book! Arghhh! I’m so mad! Did you know that when you delete something from your computer and even from the recycle bin, there is still a chance you can recover those documents? Well, it all depends on how you use your computer after you delete your files, and, apparently, I didn’t get the memo. My most recent Word document is g...

Paint My Fantasy Book Vibe With Me
Просмотров 36День назад
When it comes to books, the voice and the setting are the two most important things for me as a reader. I am very happy with the setting of my first book project and, today, I will paint it for you! How do you like the vibe? Let me know in the comments! Also, can you guess where my book is taking place? Hint: It's somewhere in the U.S.

Our "cat in a sack" is "pig in a poke" in English! 😊
Moths are so very very creepy
Just a tad! ;)
Word auto saves documents if configured. There is a default setting or you can have it saved every 5, 10, 15 etc. Minutes. The saved files are located under your user name documents directory. By default the directory is hidden.
Thank you! Trying this…
@annastride the auto backups also have a different extension then the document file. You can check the settings in word and it will show you the default file storage of the backups. It will also show you the extension of the backups. Then you can do a search and file explorer of asterisk dot "the backup ext" that will find every file with that backup extension.
Alas… I think it’s permanently gone. I deleted it a couple of days ago - first to the recycle bin, then emptied the recycle bin, and I have recorded a lot of videos since that must have replaced the deleted file’s original space, so we think it’s no longer recoverable even with special software. It would be different if it was just unsaved, but it was completely deleted, so there’s no file there to see the unsaved version of if that makes sense. The file I do have is the one I downloaded from the cloud today, but it’s a different copy - an older version of the document. The file was not set to be backed up to the cloud automatically. I manually uploaded it.
Last bit of info and I'll leave you alone I promise. The thing is, I've done programming and user support for over 40 years. I hate to see someone lose important work especially a writer. Good luck, Drew Examples of the file path to harvest copies of your work are: C:\Users\Your_Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Word Or C:\Users\Your_Username\AppData\Local\Temp Or C:\Users\Your_Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\UnsavedFiles Word backup files carry the ".wbk" extension. If you haven't disabled the backup option in Word, the program will make copies of your documents regularly. To check if the backup option is active, go to "File" -> "Options" -> "Advanced"; then scroll down to the "Save" section -> select "Always create backup copy".
Looking sharp! 😊
@@bagira2010ru thank you! 🥰
499 words is still great! Any amount of writing is something to be happy about. Keep going and good luck!
@@Gabbysreadingwell thank you very much! ❤️ Yes, I’m trying not to compare my daily word counts as they tend to fluctuate. It’s hard because I’m competitive - apparently even if the “opponent” is yesterday’s me :)
Woo! Solid progress. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Oh, plot twist with the love interest! 😮 I felt the same hesitations when writing the romantic relationship with my two MCs in my first book. I was so scared of it being cheesy! Over time I guess I just let things happen the way the characters wanted it to, kind of like you said. Also, love that sweater on you! ❤
This makes me feel better! I’m curious to see what happens to the two of them. I have an inkling but not a plan when it comes to them 😊 I’ll keep exploring as I go. And thank you! 🤗
It’s the first day! You got this. 💪🏻 I’m writing here and there. Not a huge amount of progress, but it’s getting better. I’m hoping the new year will help motivate me more!
@@jennamorganbooks thank you, friend ❤️ This was a pleasant surprise to get in the morning! I’m so proud of you that you’re writing in all circumstances and excited for what’s to come on your writing journey :)
