This drop is from a time when England was a real kingdom where children were taught what Viking village each town came from and men were not only allowed weapons, but required to have them, and the flag was real and meant something--not the sad modern UK.

If you pay attention more to the background of this movie...you see more and more just how horrific WW1 was.

So so as the film goes. 'As becomes evident early on, the real, inward journey depicted in the film is the one where Blocker recovers his humanity by learning to grant the Indians theirs. This is a worthy theme and dramatic premise but it’s only partly, and rather unsatisfactorily, realized. While Blocker’s gradual change of heart-which eventually includes the first flickers of romantic interest in Mrs. Quaid-comes across thanks to Bale’s strong performance, the film’s biggest flaw lies in how underwritten the Indian parts are. Though the venerable Wes Studi is a commanding presence and fine actor, his character is given very little shading or dimension, and the other Indians are allowed practically none.' The failed theme of most American Westerns. Few if any replicate Soldier Blue or Little Big Man or Black Robe(Canadian).

This is by far the best OST I have ever heard, and it will continue to be the best.

Yes ...I want to agree that this is one of the best westerns ever made , but to put it in a different way ...and to say , it is the best film in the history of film that documents the clash of two civilisations , and is able to find the root of both , our humanity , and maintain the respect for both cultures .

Great movie, he made a right decision by catching that train, he made a choice to stay alive - twice in the movie, two lives were saved, and the kid. Better together ! So much better, love is everything - agape love!

I will never understand why this movie did not earn a single Oscar / Academy Award for its story, acting, and music? This movie touches the heart on so many different levels of every human emotion.

The movie presents a clear and uncomplicated historical narrative without any overtly dramatic events. However, the music in the movie had a captivating effect on me as it was seamlessly integrated into the historical drama. Furthermore, the acting, particularly in the final scene, was commendable.
