      This year it has rained so much, I haven’t supplemented at all. The leaves were yellow from all of the rain washing the nutrients away. I put some amendments to help with clorosis. It seemed to help but a soil test is best to see what your soil might need.

    Hi Heather! It looks like the “Fab” has a deeper pink color, suitable for fall. Is this true? I really don’t want a loud pink at the end of summer. Does the “Fab” require the same amount of watering as a regular panicle? Also, THANK YOU for showing and the thoroughly discussing the Fab when it’s later in the growing year. I’ve searched YT and the other videos show only the white stage. 🌸🌸🌸

      The Quick Fire Fab is a beautiful hydrangea for the fall. It continues to get a deeper color as we go into the fall season. I just posted a video on 8/27/2024 called “10 of My Favorite Hydrangeas Growing in My Garden To Must See.” This shows more of the current color, size, etc. It doesn’t require anything different as any other Panicle and mine are planted in Full Sun! Check out this new video, I think you will really like it!

    Heather I’m in Michigan zone 6a. I’m trying to figure out which type of panicle hydrangeas I want to plant behind a newly planted boxwood hedge boardering the front of my home. I’m toying with quick fire fab, lime light prime. I want a panicle that will keep color interest the longest before turning brown. When do your quick fire fabs start to pink? How does lime light prime compare? If I prune, can I keep them in check height wise? I’d love to pick your brain! You seem to have tons of experience with lots of hydrangeas in Michigan.

    • @heathersmichigangarden
      @heathersmichigangarden 12 дней назад

      The Quick Fire Fab blooms really early. You can prune them back every year. What is the max height that you want? The color change is gradual and beautiful. They are white and then they turn a light soft pink to a very dark burgundy as the season goes on and the nights get colder. Mine have not reached their max height yet. The limelight stays a lighter pink it seems for a longer time. There are 3-5 feet varieties. I love the Lime light Punch too, which are shorter.

  • @colleenprzybyla
    @colleenprzybyla 21 день назад

    Which are faster growing? Taller? Quick fire Fab or Limelight?

    • @heathersmichigangarden
      @heathersmichigangarden 12 дней назад

      They get the same height. They seem to grow at the same rate. Some on mine in my hedge are at varying heights. I believe in the end, they will all reach the max height of 6-8 feet. Great question.

      I don’t do much. I put mulch down when I plant them. I don’t cut mine back until the spring. All of the new growth comes up from under the ground in early June and they grow really fast. So other than mulching, I don’t do anything. They must be very “hardy” hibiscus. I worry more about the ground moles damaging them under ground.

Last year we have a drought, I used a sprinkler when it was really dry. I do not have drip irrigation.
