Mamod Tram plowing through the snow on the Kildale garden railway
Просмотров 22921 день назад
Mamod tram pushing a simple wedge plow, the snow was already melting and wasn't the right sort of snow for this but I live in a valley and snow usually turns to rain before making it down to me so I do not get many chances to run the snowplow.

really very nice, the colour harks back to the SL2
That little engine just don't give up! Very cool, thank you
That wedge plough works very well! A nice low cut. Perfect!
and the way it curled the snow aside was very satisfying.
@ yes indeed.
I dare say my locomotives could do it . but not sure about me operating them , brrrr. but then at 77 I am a little older than my locos
Brandy.
I cant handle the cold very well these days, was well wrapped up and went back inside straight after.
@ we’ve been having long spates averaging -10c. Last week we had a few days of -16c mid day. We are in another cold snap. Currently in Casselman it is -15c and I am preparing to walk my son to the school bus. We have cold winters in Eastern Ontario and hot summers. Quite the swing!
@@Terrys-Steam-and-Bricks At least the lower temps you get pulls the moisture out the air so it's not so bitter, it's more comfortable when it's frosty but when it's not cold enough for that the damp in the air bites deep and gets in your chest.
@ ahhhhh yes. It was always damp on Vancouver Island and the cold always felt like it was in your bones even though it may have been + 5 c
Incredibly setting, compliments! MAy I ask you, did you ever have problems of stability with that train? Ours comes out the tracks very often, is there any way to place some weight on its nose?
No I don’t have problems with its jumping the track, adding weight wouldn’t be hard I would use adhesive wheel weights. They are compact and can be bought in cheap strips.
Very nice.I have two of these and one te1 that all run well and always take my bad times away an bring fun times😊
live steam is hot
@@northernutahlivesteam yes the temperatures can get up on them.
Great video, we had a good day there. My grandson also filmed it for his Dylington Model Railway channel. In fact, we spotted ourselves in the first 8 seconds of your videos... Cheers, James and Dylan 🙂👍
Wow what an unusual piece! especially surprising given as apparently 76084 still exists
@@unanimousowlcouncil7377 the society that owns 76084 replaced her cab a few years ago with a new one thats how I got it, I want to try and incorporate it into a garden shed in the future.
Nice
Thanks, it was a good day.
live steam is hot
I love the way they look when they just chill. They look so calm.
Thank you🕊
Great video, those are nice shots of the wood pigeons. Very relaxing.
very cute ^^
Bro is proud of himself 💀
Great video, I like the Mamod Tram for its simplicity.
nice train , but my Belfast sink is full of washing up in the kitchen lol
I suppose they can have other uses outside the garden.
@@SteamTrainsNStuff lol
Very sweet little runner, but Jensen need to start using a better paint
Agreed, Iv heard of all sorts of reasoning for the paint choice over the years like old man Jensen buying a massive bulk lot of the pink and wanting to use it all up. No idea if that's even slightly true.
Great little wagons. I initially ordered 4 on eBay a so far have built & painted one of them. I used Rust-Oleum surface primer in rattle cans & this gives a nice rust coloured finish. I have subsequently ordered another half a dozen directly from Peter’s website as they are slightly cheaper buying directly from him.
Can't beat them direct from Peter, it's incredible how long these have been on the market for and their still the best value wagon kits.
@@SteamTrainsNStuff yes, I don’t know how long they’ve been around for but I have seen them at various shows. It’s incredible how he does it for the price at a tenner each they’re a real bargain compared to the LGB tippers. I can’t wait to build & paint the rest of my tippers & get them trundling around my patio track ☺
@@modelsteam2805 I think they appeared on the scene in the 1980s and have been a staple since. Was only a few years ago that Peter set a website up for them before then you had to catch Peter at a show or mail order.
@@SteamTrainsNStuff Wow ! I had no idea they had been around for that long. I’m going to have a ferret around in the garden to look for a few small stones, failing that it’ll be a trip to hobby craft to see it they have something suitable to top the wagons off.
Thank you for sharing this nice video of your wonderful live steam trains. I rather liked the wind and the blowing exhaust. Much appreciated!
Neat!
It is a really neat toy, kids weren't as keen on them as the Dinky cars of course. Visiting and selling at the markets and carboot sales loads of interesting little toys like this pass through my hands on the regular I'm going to start videoing and archiving the more interesting ones like this little lawn mower.
@@SteamTrainsNStuff fantastic. I’ll be keen to watch.
Hi Paul. Do you still have your Dora?
Hey Terry yes I do, nothings changed with it.
@@SteamTrainsNStuff awesome. I sometimes go back over your vids. Too bad they don’t make the Dora anymore.
@@Terrys-Steam-and-Bricks Thats a shame, I don't think they have been too popular here in the UK since they can't be regauged to 32MM.
@@SteamTrainsNStuff It seems that lots of people in the UK model in 32 mm. That’s fairly rare on this side of the pond. I emailed Accucraft to ask if there were planning another run and the answer is no because Accucraft and Aster merged and now all design and parts making is done in Japan not China (though assembly happens in China). They apparently don’t have the specs and the engine would have to be redesigned.
@@Terrys-Steam-and-Bricks 32MM is much closer to accurately representing in 16MM scale the famous narrow gauge railways of Ffestiniog, Talyllyn ect which is why it’s so popular. I didn’t know Accucraft had Merged with Aster.
Well isn’t this fun! 😊😊😊
I still have one that I had in 1972 ! Its not anywhere near as clean as this one! I must give it a run as it's not been used for about thirty years, just stood on top of the wardrobe!
Great that you still have it I hope you get it running. When I purchased this engine the owner included a hand written letter detailing how back in the 70s he had only ran it once before cleaning it up, putting it in its box and then putting it up on the wardrobe for nearly 50 years before placing it in a auction where I purchased it.
Long time no see, I see that toy in before, like 10 - 16 years ago.
It’s a good looking loco but how well it runs is pot luck. My first one was a good runner but unfortunately it was stolen during the clearing up after an exhibition. Both replacements were very poor runners, suffering from leaking piston valves, loose cranks and cylinders that kept working loose. The good news is…They both run superbly now on scratch built chassis and my engineering skills have had plenty of practice.
Terrible to hear of engines being stolen at exhibitions, I used to visit them to run my steamers but was always worried about leaving them stored under the layouts between operating sessions even with everyone assuring me they would be perfectly safe. I can’t imagine the heavy feeling you must have had in your gut when you couldn’t spot it and realised it had gone walkabout. This is my 2nd Caradoc I had a maroon model in 2009, it ran ok but I think this one runs better.
I got that set for when the Grandaughter came to stay, she's now nearly 13 and wont let me get rid of it !😂
Can’t blame her it’s great! Perfect for visitors, I don’t have to worry about an expensive or delicate model getting damaged so I don’t have to supervise so closely.
Also, the book you sent has quick become one of my favourites. The very foundation of steam. And steam is my biggest hobby love.
Grand to hear, the history of the early railways is fascinating with so many weird designs pushing known metallurgy trying to make something strong enough to pull a useful load but light enough to not smash its rails. Next time I’m at Beamish I’ll have to record some footage of the replica wagon way and it’s locos wonderful machines to watch.
@@SteamTrainsNStuff through this book I have discovered Beamish. It is now high up on my list of places to visit before I die! Lol
@@Terrys-Steam-and-Bricks and it's only a stones throw from the Tanfield railway, if you ever find yourself over here give me a bell.
@@SteamTrainsNStuff i will!
@@Terrys-Steam-and-Bricks have you looked at the site on Google maps? It covers an impressive area, when I was a child my favourite part was the tram line which circles the site you could leave me riding on that all day no trouble. I'm going to have to go visit soon, it's been a few years.
Sweet
I’ve had older relatives keep pigeons. I love them.
Such underrated birds, I didn’t think I’d enjoy watching and interacting with them as much as I do.
@@SteamTrainsNStuff that’s great to hear. 😊
I covered the speaker with some black duct tape. Helps with the sound reduction immensely!
Wow grown up baby ❤❤❤ great color developing Is it a fantail??
Yes it's a fantail, both parents are rescues this is the first bird born in my coop. The father bird (seen in the background) I found wandering the streets and the mother bird was an unwanted pet I took in, the father's a fantail and the mothers a fantail/tumbler mix.
Sweet bird! By the way, a very very lovely railway book showed up in my post box!!
Grand! I’d love to hear what you think of it and I’m sure you’ll be inspired by those fascinating machine also Anthony Dawson has several other books and an excellent RUclips channel under the same name. Not sure where I got the second copy from, I found quite a few doubles around my library.
@@SteamTrainsNStuff I am already part way through it! Great info on an era most of us know less about. 👍👍👍👍👍
@@SteamTrainsNStuff it really was a lovely surprise. 😊😊😊
Excellent little wagons found on many many railways. The Binnie kits are a staple of most garden lines. They’re easy to build and rugged in use✔️✔️👍
Sweet squeaks😍😍

Cute 🕊
They certainly are cute birds.
Cute video, cheers Fabrizio - like 1
Great loco. Ours still runs and with
cute and nice to watch, but then I only live a few miles from the site of the old DE Winton works at Caernarfon. There was an original full size engine at Penryn castle to view, apparently they used marine engines that they produced to power the things
Shunting with live steam not something you see that often, well done that man.
That was wonderful, thank you. What’s the device you’re using to couple/uncouple?? It looks very useful.
Lovely video and railway. I have Coffee Pot No.3. As far as I know No.1 was never sold and is still with the original Brandbright people and No.2 is featured in the Roundhouse website Museum section.
I have a rc one great engines
Oh no! Why not just buy two more perbunan rings? They are running about USD20 for 4 of them. This will not require you to ruin your train and will work a lot better.
nice one
Great running session. The elevated track looks lovely
Nice. Love the greenery! We have bees in our flowers too.
