I've been putting in regular practice since then to get better at building improvised loops. Generally this involves laying down a couple of layers and then spending some time jamming over that. This video shows my progress from this January.
Of note during this period, I expanded my instrumentation with a keyboard (a Yamaha Reface CP, for Rhodes and Wurlitzer tones) and a groove box (a Novation Circuit Tracks), both of which you'll see added in here and there.
