Review of La Resina Golf course April 2024
Nice video this is my favourite course here! The grass range is actually decent, unlimited balls, chipping greens…good for a practice session but a ball ache before a round. I’ve been here 7 years, so many options for a good round 😅
@@Iaingrey379 yes, it's brilliant. I had a lovely afternoon. And yes, many options for a good round and with the weather, it beats the UK! Thanks for watching.
It's one of the better courses around the area
Yes, I agree, a definite must play. Thanks for watching.
What's your 3 and 4 ranked? Have you not played los naranjos?
Yes, the two hidden ones after Valderamma are Los Naranjos and Rio Real. As explained, I didn't feel it appropriate to include these as I haven't done video reviews nor used my 8-metric rankings. They're both great courses, fairly flat, great condition. Rio Real in particular is beautiful. They're on my list to return this spring.
@costadelsolgolfer thanks for the reply, I'm over may for first trip and had booked torreqebrada as couldn't get los naranjos but will check out rio real now. Hadn't heard of it and not overly keen on torreqebrada, practice facilities 1/5 and course was quite rough when I played it
I haven't played Torrequebrada, but intend to. It's at the other end of the Costa del Sol from where we're based and so it's about an hour's drive away. Rio Real is great as is Alferini course at Villa Padierna (just take lots of balls!).
@costadelsolgolfer is rio real a ball taker?
@costadelsolgolfer I'm just booked and added rio real to my may trip. Adding to los naranjos and los lagos!
Played La Canada a few times. It's obviously not as good as it's neighbour...(although it's on the same piece of land) but it's actually a pretty decent track with good facilities, and in it's immediate area is an absolute steal.
Yes, I agree. It's a good course and I love the driving range being right in front of the clubhouse.
You must play in Casares Costa Golf, is the cheapest and best for the price, in my opinion, without sand bunkers😢
I haven't played there, but I will! Thanks for the recommendation.
Just played Alhaurin at the weekend. Superb condition right now, I highly recommend it. Nowhere near as difficult as some make it sound, the views are incredible, even just driving up there. Fairways are green with an amazing cut. You could putt along them if you wanted. 4 half hour round, 55 euros with a buggy. Bargain!
I'm glad to hear about Alhaurin. I played there a couple of years ago, to walk in the footsteps of Seve and I was a little disappointed: the back-9 was in poor condition. Sounds like they've got on top of it and it's worth going back to. Thanks.
The halfway house point is a little bit unfair. Cabopino for example has a Cartboy/girl you can call at anytime and they deliver the food or drinks And I would take the costs into account. Yes Valderrama is nice, but is it worth 5-10 times the money you pay at other great courses?
Fair point on the drinks cart. Is Valderamma worth 5 times the cost of others? I don't know. It was a once in a lifetime game for me and as I said Los Lagos that I played the following week was nearly of the same standard -the design is quite different. La Canada is also very good and near Valderamma so you get something of the look and feel.
Very useful video!! I don’t know must of them.. I hope you play others than I do know 😅: Santa Clara (in Marbella), La Hacienda (two courses ), Estepona Golf (didn’t like it at all), Casares Costa, El Lauro and Magna Marbella (par 3). 👏👏
@@miguelangel1171yes I've played Santa Clara, it's very good. I've also played La Hacienda Heathland but not the links course yet. I've played Estepona two or three times, I believe they've been investing there so I will go back again soon and do a review. Thanks for engaging.
Playing Lagos in June, good to see it’s been rated high, also playing Rio Real and Los Naranjos, have you played these?
Yes, I've played both 2-3 times. I've ranked them 2nd and 3rd right behind Valderamma (so you've chosen well!) but I haven't played there since I came up with my 8 metrics so I hid those rows on my spreadsheet! They're both great. Los Naranjos is millionaires golf, dare I say it's where the wealthy and beautiful people of Marbella hang out? Rio Real meanders through mature trees and unusually for here, goes right down to the sea. You'll have a great time.
Brilliant, that’s good to hear, thanks for sharing your knowledge
The hotel how far from club house
@@colinb9377 I'm afraid I don't know as I didn't stay at the hotel. You should be able to ask the hotel this. I'm sure they'll have a bus service to the clubhouse if it is a long way.
@ Thank you
Cheers, i'll check them out. Happy to subscribe 😇
Thanks for the videos, they're great. In this one you say you got it for €64 including cart, this is a great price, have you any advice on how to get best prices?
@@damiendean6585 I use an agency called golfinspain (that's a free advert for them!). Prices vary depending on the time of year, now is actually high season (!). Prices can be cheaper in the summer when lots of people think it's too hot to play. It's always worth looking for early starts and twilight deals. Nearly all courses do twilight deals which can be quite a bit cheap, there's just sometimes a little stress of getting round before it goes dark.
@@damiendean6585 hope you're a subscriber!
@@costadelsolgolfer twilight over here is also defined by a varying amount of times. Some places don’t even start their twilight times until gone 3pm. Cabopino at the moment start Twilight at 1pm, which is more than enough time to get around before the sunset at 6pm. I’ve got a tee lined up for €48 including buggy. They also have a huge selection of clubs to rent on the imaster booiking screen if you are flying in from abroad. Highly rated.
Playing here tomorrow so thanks for this👍
Sorry, but lovely to watch if one wishes to fall asleep!
I'm glad it was useful!
Is the range out of order at the moment?
Yes, that is what I was told in the Proshop.
RE Chaperral, did they allow Buggies on Fairways . I read they did not and even would not allow the "90 degree" rule due to the steepness of some of the Fairway edges
They allowed buggies on most holes but on some holes we were told to keep to the cart path. You're right: some of the slopes are so steep you couldn't (and wouldn't) take a buggy down them.
Hi mate, just subscribed! We normally go to portugal for our yearly golf trip but next year we might go to spain. This resort has come up as the potential favorite. We are a group of 24 and we do a rydercup style event. Do you reckon this would work at this resort? Anything we need to be aware of? It will be sometime next september
@@TomHacker90 yes it's a good place. There are three 18 hole courses, everyone uses a buggy, a good clubhouse, so it'll be easy and convenient. There are better courses nearby such as Los Lagos (I've done a review of that one) and Santana (played twice but not done a video yet). Weather is reliable in September, we were there then and it was 30C every day. We've just done another week, got back yesterday, and it was still 28-29C, dry and sunny. I filmed 3 more reviews and will edit them over the coming weeks.
@costadelsolgolfer I watched alot of your reviews lastnight. Keep the good work coming and until we have a place booked, il be sure to pop back from time to time to see what videos you have
Glad you enjoyed it. I'd be pleased if you'd subscribe. Two more ready for editing.
thanks for this!
Going next month looking fwd to it
Yes, lovely course and the weather should still be good too. Hope you enjoy it.
Off here next week cant wait. So, the range is not easily accessible, then?
It's a 5 minute ride in a buggy, so you just need to get there in plenty of time.
Nice to see your video, the others on RUclips seem to all be marketing hype
Thanks. I like to show golfers what they can expect in terms of course layout and the quality of the grass. It would be nice if you could subscribe. I've footage for two more courses, just need to edit it and two more rounds planned for this week.
@@eenph done
Three interesting courses at La Cala. Severely undulating, lots of severe downhill drives and many uphill shots to greens. One criticism I have is that the vast majority of the 54 greens are the same, very raised up at the front and high ground behind.
Booked for playing in two weeks. Look a bit difficult to 15-20 handicappers. . .
You'll be fine. The best piece of advice I received from a Pro was "only hit it where you can see it!". Hit the fairways and you'll be fine. The trickiest holes are 10 and 15 but now you know what to do. Enjoy!
Thank very informative. Looks narrow!!
I played here again this week. Again the greens were excellent and the fairways very good. The fringes of fhe greens however are still in need of some care.
I returned here a few days ago and the putting green was much better. It's clearly been watered and the grass has recovered. The chipping green now needs the same level of care.
