Просмотров 2,9 тыс.Год назад
From Brian Barlow (posted with his permission): Our dear friend Guido Basso has moved on, but his music will be with us forever. This track was recorded at the time we did his CD 'Changing Partners', but was not included. It has never been released. The pianist is John Sherwood. Guido lived a full and rich life, and he made all of ours just that much better. I will miss him more than words can ...

RIP, Guido. You were an amazing and memorable musician who played with all his heart and soul, and we all forever miss you and your artistry.
Guido Basso, one of the greatest improvisers I've ever heard. I'm Brazilian (trumpet player) and I had the immense pleasure of chatting with him once on Facebook. I ask: is Sam Moto still alive?...

Such a beautiful player.
Dear Guido 🤗 I just happened to check you out on RUclips playing those wonderful solos w/Boss Brass! ❤️ 5 years past your 80th, today is 9/27/2022! I have one unforgettable memory of meeting you at Giardinelli’s during the 80’s when BB went to NJ to play w/Mel Torme! You were my idol but didn’t know what you looked like! Someone said: that’s the BB Tp section and I asked which of you is GB? And gave you a big hug! How lucky I was to meet you and listen to you in NJ that night! 👻👻👻 Thanks for the beautiful hours of enjoyment! 🌈🎺🙏❤️ Lalo
Too cool!!
Nice set up! Don’t really need compression for trumpet tho
Actually the compression is the most important pedal on my board. It helps to control all the wild sounds. I couldn't do it without it.
Way to leave out which settings and pedals your using to make the actually using to get the sound …. Or just what pedals you have ffs
Mark - if you want more specific info let me know. I didn't want to go into that much detail in the video.
Great dude!
Thanks!
ayo
Do you know where I can find one like this? Seems to be sold out everywhere. Maybe you know some similar envelope. Thanks!!
Yeah - the don't make them anymore. Keep looking for a used one. The EH Qtron is also awesome.
How would you hook all this stuff up to your trumpet? do you just mic it up??
Yeah I use a mic with a preamp. I started with just a mic with XLR to 1/4 cable.
The information you share with us are world public utilities! The music community thanks you.
Thank you!!
love it
Holy crap that octave sounds incredible
The delay sounds amazing!
Interesting BUT your video would be nicer if you just share the settings so people would like it more.
Just let me know what settings you are interested in. I didn't want to bore people and make the video extra long.
Why didn’t you demonstrate how harmonix sounds one octave above?
I could have, but I don't use that function very often.
Es increíble... Cómo hiciste?
This is great! I’d love to track some songs with your horn playin bud. I dig the effects!
That would be cool!
1:07 if Kirk Hammet played trumpet
Very nice set up! 👍
Can you do a detailed video of the POG2 please? I'm just starting to experiment with one, only I've never used pedals before.
Hope you are making out well with the POG2. It is a great pedal.
Also check out HORNfx online as they have a great site.
Hello. I'm just now going to start experimenting with pedals. I'm currently on that "miles" whatever phase and i was drawn to your original setup. This new setup seems complicated to me at the moment because of my lack of knowledge. I don't know where to begin.
I hope your journey is going well. You can always send me an email I can give you more info. Also check out HORNfx online as they have a great site.
@@MrTrek88 hi. What a surprise. I was just mentioning you 3 days ago or so to a friend. Everything is going great. I ended up getting a silent brass and a multi-effects pedal. It didn't work that well (feedback, intonation issues, air flow wasn't the same...a nightmare.) So i went back to just dreaming about the idea.
Soon I'll try again the right way. With the right equipment. At the time I just wanted quick results on a budget. And that's exactly what I got.
The combo of the pog2 1 octave down and disnortion is killer! Thanks for sharing!
Very cool. Are you having to use a compression pedal after your envelope filter. I’m a Sax player and have a wireless mic > vocoloco > Qtron plus. I feel like the Qtron has to be turned way down so it doesn’t feed back when trying to use it during live gigs. Appreciate any advice on needing compression pedal. Thanks 😎🎷
Yes I use compression after it. Try it. It should fix your issues. I love the Qtron. I stared with that. Wish I still had it.
Blair Yarranton thanks bro! I will get one for sure. One more question if you don’t mind. 😉 With compression and QTron both activated can I still use my other pedals(octave, delay, etc). I saw this other sax player saying he had to use true bypass looper pedal to add or remove QTron from the signal chain. Hope I can do it with just QTron and compression. Anyways, thanks man. Stay safe! 😎👍🏼
Nah. I leave mine on all the time. It is on the lowest compression setting with full output. Should be fine.
Thanks for the great and informative video. Just wondering if you've ever used tany of the multi fx pedals by line 6 or boss and if they are worth it for someone just starting their fx journey.
I actually started with an old Yamaha multi fx unit. It gave me a chance to try out many different sounds. I know many people who use them, I was just drawn to more individual pedals and personalities. I find most multi fx to me too complex for me. Too many menus and options.
Cool, it's good to know how people started. After asking some guitar and bass friends they seem to have started the exact same. Get something that can do everything ok and then as you develop find your own sound with pedals that can do what you want well. Thanks for the reply!
good to see your update. could you take a minute at some point to share the process of choosing where in the chain you were going to place your compression? i'm sure you experimented with it first, right?
I did experiment with it a bit. I bought the pedal on a whim not really knowing what it would do. Once I realized how It behaved I use it after the major sound shaping pedals - wah, distortion, envelope, phase as it helps to control them and to keep the signal consistent before it goes to the delay and reverb. Without it out the distortion almost impossible to control.
Cool
Hello mate. Is your EQ pedal AFTER the POG? And if you roll off 100Hz on your EQ is that not getting rid of the lower octaves coming from the POG? Thanks! Love your setup!
Eq is second last - before the reverb.
I don’t roll off anymore now that I have switched to a shure wireless as there is much less valve noise now. I didn’t find it interfered in the low octave.
hi blair, is there any KIND'S of efx that can sound like trumpet too? does reverb eq comp enough to sound like trumpet? need your answer ASAP. thanks man, GOD bless!
Yes. Many pedals will sound like a trumpet. Even wild pedals used with lower settings will sound more like a trumpet.
@@MrTrek88 so that means i can sound like a trumpet in my guitar with proper efx set? can i have a list you experiment on to sound like a trumpet? i'm a huge fan of SKA but i don't want to have a big band members so i like to do the horn section with my guitar hehe. thanks man for the idea. it's a LOT! :)
Are you guitar player? I was assuming that you were a trumpet player.
@@MrTrek88 oh yes i'm a guitar player. so that means what you demo was you're using a real trumpet?
Yes. Trumpet through fx.
Hello, i should know the ONLY the Pog 2 setting...Thanks
Which settings were you interested in?
