I loved this as a kid. Choose your own adventures were amazing for me. I used to get them from the library all the time.

I enjoyed this one, it was quite the trippy dystopian adventure. The nightmare sequence in the office where Jake is seeing his maimed/mauled victims, the moments where he saw an elderly hawk, the strange place with the free children; it was all so uncanny and portrayed so well. Finished it today, the audiobook version. Have to give Macleod Andrews credit for one of his best performances in the series, the way he maintained the voices of the characters while making them sound 10 years older was impressive. Strange ending but I had fun

A couple of points to make. 1. I don’t believe that the future the Ellemist showed the Animorphs was a false one. I’ve always been of the impression that time is not linear, more a vast expanse of countless paradoxes and strands. He simply showed them one of thousands of potential futures for them and Earth. The Ellemist cannot predict what choices an individual will make in any given moment, so while he can see endless possibilities for the future, he can’t predict the future anymore than the Animorphs can. 2. Your question about why the surrounding area around the EGS tower was vacant, despite the time of day, is easily explained. The EGS holds the Kandrona Ray generator, the most vital element to the Yeerks Earthside. Because of that, they likely have their human controllers in command of all the surrounding businesses and buildings. Any restaurant, bar, or any late night activity place would be either shut down early or bought out and closed. With no after dark activities available surrounding the building, there’s no real need for anyone to even be around the building after dark. Less eyes means less risk of exposure. 3. The glass on all high rise buildings are very thick and tempered, making it almost impossible to fall or jump through. 4. The Kandrona Ray generator’s placement is likely attributed to the massive heat and electrical output it generates. Far easier to hide it in the top of the tallest tower in the city rather than in some warehouse somewhere. It could likely be powered by sunlight, so higher up, the more rays it can absorb and convert to Kandrona. I also don’t think the Kandrona the Animorphs destroyed was the Ray emitter, just the engine. I feel that the generator ran a power conduit down through the center of the tower and down into the Ray emitter that was at the top of the Yeerk Pool. 5. I theorize the replacement Kandrona Ray was actually meant to be shipped out with Temrash’s unit in ‘The Capture’. I don’t think that Visser 3 was planning to just infest the Governor, he was intending eventually establish a whole new Yeerk Pool in the capitol city where the Governor worked, his plan being to spread the Yeerk forces beyond the main city they were operating in which would have (by his planning) made it impossible for the ‘Andalite Bandits’ to effectively resist the invasion.

Would be an interesting AniTheory if the Animorphs chose to have the Ellimist take them away. What would happen?

You're more likely to find frog legs in the American Southern states. Not to sound cliche` but they taste like chicken. Not really a worthwhile eating experience, but not bad either.

I actually touched on this battle in my own fanfiction. It’s seen through the eyes of a Yeerk that’s host is a Nahara, who are almost exclusively designated for engineer/maintenance tasks. Since she had no combat training nor experience, she runs and hides at the first sight of battle. In the aftermath, she kind of assesses the situation. Her initial belief is that the attack was a poorly thought out and chaotic move by Andalite survivors, and that they had stupidly traded away the ignorance of Imperial forces of their survival for a few fleeting hours of panic in the Yeerk Pool. But she also believes that it was a move prompted by Andalite pride to let Visser Three know that the Empire hadn’t conquered Earth yet, and that they were still going to have to fight for it. Just some thoughts from a potential different point of view.

Pretty good series. Though, I think Tobias injured a few Hork-Bajir controllers during the yeerk pool battle. Looking forward to seeing the fight in David's Bedroom from Book 20: The Discovery.

In my head the yeerks were always purplish, almost like zerg coloration from the original starcraft. Similar quirky alien name, Yeerk, Zerg, sounds like a name you'd associate with space alien.

My favourite part of this episode: When they get through the "dead end" door and Jake closes it behind Ax. As in, right behind. As in, negating the fact that Ax is meant to be a quadrupedal centaur-alien, with a rear end, and we're supposed to believe that from this man in a costume. (Also, the fact that Ax apparently acquired Jake and Cassie's denim jackets, Marco's rain(?)jacket and Rachel's cardigan(?) and ends up with a blue hoodie.)

I just got done listening to the audiobook. And I was liking much of the book until the end. The fact that they just leave Alloran is unbelievable. I was thinking of multiple ways to address the situation and they just leave. Why didn’t Alloran just morph? It would heal him and then he could put up a fight or escape. That ending really irritated me tbh…

I think i agree with your ultimate conclusion that her leaving and inevitably coming back later would rupture the team and lead to their ultimate defeat. What i wonder though is how fundamentally different Rachel would be had she left the war that early. Rachel in book 7 is a totally different character than lets say Rachel in book 22 or 48. It was still very early in the war and they were still mostly normal kids at that point. It wasnt until the David trilogy that her inner darkness started to be exposed and her character and the series at large took a much darker turn. One could argue that the David fiasco brought it out in the open. I think that the start of that process though was book 7 when she is overwhelmed by her inner turmoil over her dad leaving. I think when she acquired the grizzly morph that that was an inflection point for the Rachel that she would become later in the series because the grizzly morph was a vehicle for her to channel and unleash her inner rage and mental turmoil over the direction her life was taking with her dad leaving and the war effort seeming pretty futile at that point. I mean she was ready to give up the fight. Can you imagine Rachel doing that later in the series? No chance. During book 7 the Animorphs morale was near an all time low and they really needed a victory to give them some hope. I think that the combination of her unleashing the beast within via her grizzly morph and then their first major victory destroying the Kandrona was the genesis of her beginning to enjoy the fight and the beginning of her metaMORPHosis 😉 into the Rachel she became later in the series. I think that if she left in book 7 and came back in the 30s that she wouldnt be anywhere near as unstable as she became later in the series because the major cause of that was the events of the David trilogy. Without the David trilogy and the accumulative trauma of the 25 or so books she was gone Rachel would be a radically different character and the events of book 37 probably never wouldve happened (thank God! 😂) cuz she wouldnt have been so full of herself as a hero, warrior, king without all of the character development of the previous 25 or so books. What do you think about my AniTheory? Am i making any sense or am i just rambling on another AniRant like a nutter? 😂

Idk if the David scenario wouldve played out the same though cuz the biggest reason they were able to trick him and trap him was they manipulated David and his desire to humiliate Rachel to get him to morph something vulnerable like a rat. He was so caught up in getting off on humilating Rachel that he failed to see the trap they laid for him. With no Rachel i dont think they wouldve been able to trick and trap him as a rat so they probably wouldve had to just off him and be done with it.

It's confirmed in #54 that the Animorphs lived in Southern California. Probably in a suburb of Santa Barbara cuz thats where Jake buys a house for his parents after the war. But we know for sure that the invasion started in LA cuz in "VISSER", Visser One lands in Hollywood and starts the Sharing there. She moves it out of the LA area though after she realizes that the area is already oversaturated with cults. *cough, Scientology, cough* 😂 So yeah the Animorphs lived in So. Cal. and Rachel's father likely moved to Denver based on the contextual clues we have to go on.

I always inferred that Rachel's father moved to Chicago. She said that he was moving halfway ACROSS the country. Over a thousand miles away. He was leaving their small town in Southern California to go to be a news anchor in a major media market. If we're talking the Midwest U.S. then that would have to be Chicago. Its the next biggest media market after NYC and LA. Her dad also talks about the new city being a major sports town and Chicago definitely is. But wait actually. Doesnt he mention being able to go hiking mountains on the weekends? That definitely wouldnt be Chicago. That would have to be Denver. Also a decent sports town. So yeah IIRC all the subtext in #7 points to the city being Denver.

Funny you decided to upload this video while I was in the middle of an Alternamorphs 1 follow-up fic taking place during the events of books 8 and 9. Where you have problems with the unusually extreme aggression of your Hyena Morph. And it gets to the point where you’re benched from Battle Missions. So now you have to figure out how to understand and eventually tame this wild morph of yours. (And yes, this continues the tradition of you doing your own thing while the Animorphs go through the Canon Even- wait, are you Miles Morales? What the actual Fe-) Some things to note for the After Alter series: I’m keeping the personality the same. An 90’s Too Cool Extreme Off-road cyclist. Also, you’re a Sega kid because of course you are. Marco is kinda the closest thing you have to a friend ever since you moved to California (or that part of California). Lexie is your adopted sister. You have a habit of trying to make slang words (like the aforementioned “Feeb”) hoping at least one will catch on. They either never do or it’s one of those “but your kids are gonna love it” situations. You start a habit of collecting Morphs like Pokemon. (I mean, they kinda are here. Only thing is you’re on No-“Faint” Nuzlocke rules. Heh. Funny how I mentioned ⋏uzl⍜c☍es…) During the Hyena incident, you start making a habit of reading up on the various Morphs you collect. Hence the scene where it’s said you read a book on ants. You’re the worst when it comes to morphing and demorphing for the first time. However, you are the fastest Morpher. (You completely morph the tallest living land animal in *seconds*, while the other Animorph’s fastest time is still around a minute or more.) You can morph with clothes and shoes on. That means you can morph pockets. Hold things inside those pockets. Cause mayhem with those things elsewhere while others are distracted. As in, The VIP Yeerk Pool is now a bowl of maple and ginger breakfast-type mayhem. Your Fly Morph from the dead end path of the book is still a thing, you just never got the chance to use it until this fic. Turns out your Fly morph isn’t actually a Housefly, but a *Robber Fly* .Which explains how in the book it says you wanted to eat a spider for some reason. The laughter of your hyena morph gives Yeerks PTSD. On rare occasions it can outright give away a controller if someone laughs nearby. I’m going to plan out a fic of what you were doing during book 5’s Ant Mission and how you got Ax to join you in discovering Visser 1’s identity. What about "you", the person who discovered all of the Animorphs War Journals, which, given they contain secret war information, were never intended for public consumption? There's totally head canon to be had there.

I know they get flak in the fandom but i LOVED reading those at 10 or 11 years old. I was a big fan of choose your own adventure books and i lost my mind when Scholastic published those.

So excited to see you are continuing your series. I only just recently found them and couldn’t stop reading through them.
