@@stefgt3ktmrx337 Yes! Harpins 130kmh, slow corners 145 kmh.... The only explanation I could arrive with was that you were on the street tyres :-)

@@wojteklaskowski9360 haha. We were setting a very good pace through that stage. Using Michelin PS4S tyres. They worked much better in the wet on day one. I was using my iPhone to record the footage. I prefer the GoPro behind us, but I’ve got nowhere to mount it without the cage.

Outstanding! Congratulations! If you’ve got a car like that it’s really worth doing track days, and club sprints are the best way to do that. I’ll look forward to seeing you at an event one day soon hopefully. As you can see from my videos, we absolutely love doing the Porsche Targa Tours as well , probably the most fun driving you can do I think.

Yep been doing track days for many years, the RX7 is fast (1:42 PI) but I’m getting old and need a bit of comfort and AC 😂 I’ve had 996 GT2 and 981 GT4 previously but this will be the first foray into GT3 and will be quicker and better setup. See you out there 👌

Yes, totally standard, sports exhaust isn’t even an option. I think having such a fantastic motor and manual gearbox makes for the ultimate road car! Thanks for that!

991.2 GT3’s are fantastic and still super quick. Faster than a .1 RS I think. The prices have dropped so relatively good value now as well.

Hi Don, thanks for that, yes I do have the perfect co-driver! We’ll be at High Country so I’ll look forward to seeing you there. Not long now.They will install the rally safes for us, typically on the windscreen. They just use a suction cup and plug into the OBD port for power so it is super simple. We put ours on the PCM screen as I worry about it being a dangerous projectile if the airbags go off. It hasn’t damaged the screen at all, so I strongly recommend you do that too. The Targa’s are fantastic fun! See you at Winton. Cheers.

@@stefgt3ktmrx337 Thanks for the tip. My PCM is a touch screen so I might have to settle for the window mount. Any tips for sticking to the 130 limit? Is there a setting on the Porsches?

Don just make sure it isn’t in the way of the passenger airbag. I just don’t use the PCM so that solves that problem. You can setup speed alerts which help, but you do really need to be vigilant because the speed limit is strictly enforced.

I was just wondering do you still run Cup 2 tires if there is rain forecast and snow on the mountain? I notice the weather forecast is not ideal so far for this weekend but hopefully things will improve.

Yes, we are speed limited to 130. A bit frustrating on some roads, but realistically, with no pace notes, it’s no doubt necessary. It’s still the best fun we have in a car!

@@stefgt3ktmrx337 Yes no doubt and legal! Bit hard to do 130 in most of those corners anyway but it would be nice to be able to get out of 3rd gear! I hear it is a great event and nice to be able to use both sides of the road. That Great Barrier Reef one looks even better but a bit far to travel. What is the approx cost for the touring group these days? I don't suppose there is any free invitations to new Porsche owners?

Donald Rowe haha! We all wish it was free. I think around 6k for THC and THBR. Getting our cars to Cairns and back is about $3.5k. If you can afford to go they are worth it. Everyone who goes can’t wait for the next one. Where do you live?

I live near Porsche Centre Willoughby in NSW, my SA mentioned I should do High Country. It would be great to hook up with some other Porsche drivers who have done the events and find out more. I assume you are Vic based?

Donald Rowe I’m always trying to be faster! The tour can still be quite competitive, especially up towards the front. It’s certainly no winery tour! Guaranteed you would not be disappointed with the pace even if you are a super quick driver. I’m in Bendigo so THC is very convenient for me. What Porsche do you have?

Jay Henderson we are allowed to do 130 and our speed is constantly monitored. If we exceed that we can get kicked off the tour. Safety is paramount, but 100 would be a bit slow in our cars.

Jay Henderson yes, it is a spirited drive for sure! But the pace varies from fast to more leisurely if that’s what you want. Definitely the most fun you’ll have in a car though!

Heath Britton-Stanley yeah, it was awesome fun! Lucky Jacque is a good co-driver and enjoys the speed!

Looks like a great drive and like you pulled that other GT3 in. Were you in the race or touring group ? I would love to do the touring one day but my wife would have kittens on a drive like that!

We were in the Porsche Tour. It is the most fun you can have! Everyone drives within their (and their wive's) comfort zones. There's no pressure and that's the best thing. If you enjoy driving it is something you should try to do. The Porsche Tour is really well run, not sure about all the other tour groups though.

Stef GT3KTMRX3 no worries I’ll have to settle for a white one 😄. They seem to be the only cars that genuinely work on track in stock form. Drove one at Spa last year and was sold. Cheers.

Doug M boring white haha. Nah, white looks great on GT3’s. Mine’s never missed a beat. I can’t think of any car that is as quick, reliable, fun and rewarding to drive.
