About InnovateOhio, IP Promise and PITCH X
Born from the knowledge that we have world-changing discoveries every year that originate in universities but need help moving from lab to market, Ohio’s I.P. Promise was launched by Lt. Governor Jon Husted as an extension of InnovateOhio in fall 2019. A total of 16 Ohio universities agreed to work together to make technology commercialization faster, easier and more impactful.
PITCH X: From Lab to Market is a quarterly series of talks from university entrepreneurs discussing technologies ready to make a difference in the world through commercialization. By raising awareness for breakthrough technologies developed right here in Ohio, PITCH X is helping connect university research with private sector investment as Ohio grows its innovation economy.

How to Save the Great Lakes with Hydrogels
Alexis D. Ostrowski, Ph.D.
Bowling Green State University
Associate Professor, Center for Photochemical Sciences, Department of Chemistry
Dr. Ostrowski has developed hydrogels that can absorb nutrient pollution in freshwater bodies - a challenging issue the State of Ohio has been working to address in recent years. These gelatin-like materials can capture the nutrients like phosphate, nitrate, and ammonia, that can cause harmful algae blooms, and allow farmers to safely use those same nutrients as fertilizer. The goal is that, ultimately, these materials will be used by farmers around the Great Lakes region as a best management practice for treating wastewater.

What cause the macular to swell please
Does the macular ever heal to the point of not needing injections
no
Drug injections into the eye? Mass insanity. At best, all they can do is possibly - maybe - slow down the disease. There absolutely ARE natural treatments to drastically improve macular degeneration. Before, I had massive wavy distortions in my vision. I was 68 at the time. Nothing was straight!! All waves. Now, that’s all gone. I see everything perfectly straight now. All vertical and horizontal lines are straight. Which proves this doctor is 100% wrong when she says there is no cure for macular degeneration. That’s just her very morbidly, narrow vision speaking. There IS massive hope out there. You just have to search for it.
Can this type of treatment be beneficial for Stargardt? Thank you Doctor
That was depressing
Great 👍
Hello is it available now in the USA?
I got a injection v1 month ago Dr told me 3 to 4 months bto heal .he injected a capsule into macular i guess it heals macular ober time pressure eemt up but i have va pressure Dr and a glycoma valve in
Is this just for wet amd or can it be for dry amd as well?
Im 68. I hv it in both eyes. Only yesterday they found my left eye has turned into wet AMD. They didn't gv any medication when both my eyes were dry. Now they are asking me to for injection inside the eye. Is it advisable? Pls advise.
Have you heard of Rpe in the back of the eye and using Lx-Dopa with it
I have spoken English all my life but I just couldn't make out what she was saying. A most peculiar accent
You didn't miss anything. I think she was talking to investors.
I take the eye shots. My Mac.degen. began healing immediately. And I was delayed takomg every month because of other illnesses..but I had 3 shots straight on monthly basis. The eyes have held to keep,on healing by itself. The shots completely speed up that action. I’ve never read anything that says the effects stop if the shots stop but the eye Dr. seemed to be saying the shots may need to go on longer than 6 months …I didn’t ask more. Assumed it all depends on how the individuals healing process takes. So he didn’t say even the shots were a permanent cure…but he is surprised at the level of healing that’s been accomplished in my eye so far. Usually the shots are painless because there’s a lot of liquid used to add numbers to the eye and eye wash used after,,etc. that occurred the first eye shit. I felt nothing…didn’t even know when the shot had occurred. But each successive shot,,the Dr. has used less waters over the eyeball and I’m gradually becoming aware of some pain with the shots. But will not hesitate to ask him why and ask for more flushing to stop pain from increasing with shots. Btw, I had no idea these may still be considered …experimental..or semi -experimental…. Just like the plethora of pills being sold for treatment of Mac.degen.
Is this for wet or dry macula?
do your research before you start believing what random people say.
Thanks for your research efforts. We want these products as soon as possible and keep up the forward momentum!
Thank you Ms……….. Keep up this wonderful research. I dislike my injections every six weeks.
I’ve heard that mapping cancer cell receptors of solid tumors is detrimental to CAR-T. I dont understand this other than getting into the cancer cells.
God bless you for your work
Very interesting and veeeery well explained.
How can I get this in Uganda
I’m so sad my brother who is 78 has macular degeneration and probably advanced he’s been told there’s nothing to help him. He lives in Arizona all alone. I’m in Texas and 81 and cannot visit him. Is there anything that can be done for him? I feel so bad my heart is breaking, he’s sad and lonely and going blind. He has a very sharp mind. His his memory and cognition is not affected. He’s very bright it’s just makes it sadder that he knows what’s happening to him and he can’t do anything about it. Please can’t hr be helped? He’s such a good hearted person.
It would actually be more sad if he was unaware, no? Awareness allows him to participate in treatment and to mitigate/ modify his actions and routines. God's blessings prayed for him.
I have AMD. Thank you for your work!
I am not going to have any implants in my body it sounds too much like the mark if the beast.
FDA it's all about the money
Is it currently in use for patients ?
Check out the effects of daily low dose aspirin on Macular degeneration. Study by a professor some years ago showed up to 75% extra chance of macular harm caused by its use. Google it.
It's injecting into the eye that puts people off these procedures.
TAKE TAURINE 1,000 MG CAPSULES 6,000 MG TOTAL DAILY AND AFTER 7 DAYS VISION FOR AMD WILL BEGIN REPAIR AND AFTER 30 DAYS WILL IMPROVE 100% !!!!
Where can I get it at
I have it in both eyes I hate getting the injection
Taurine is no doubt a supplement and can be bought at stores dedicated to selling vitamins, minerals and supplements. Some larger grocery stores or even mercantile stores will have special departments that sell such items..in or around their pharmacy departments. May seem odd too but Taurine is what helps cats have night vision….. I do think you should get the advice of a person who also treats people with the supplements and such as often regular doctors have no idea of how to use them. Opthamologists may know more since this is recommended for eye diseases treatments in a major way. I suggest that because the amount seems very high….and I have been treated by an MD who is also an integrative therapist.which means this MD uses both standardized medicines and the vitamins, minerals and other substances that are often already in our bodies in different amounts., Ive been in treatment of all disorders that developed in 2013, when I had breast cancer with mastectomy. It’s important that the stuff recommended is known about by whomever orders it as therapy…. So don’t guess.,,find out from someone who really knows because supplements are as effective or more so , as chemicals drugs. So it could be harm or benefit just from amounts.
@@jeffreycasto4610…see advice from Margaret j jaeger tells where to get taurine and etc.
What brand do you use?
ATTENTION !!!! TAURINE IS NEEDED FOR RETINA AND MACULA AND AFTER TAKING 6,000 MG DAILY 2,000 MG THREE TIMES DAY CURE WET DRY AMD !!!!
I have advanced ARMD. It is always thrilling to hear of new technology which may be able to make life easier in the future. Heads up folks, while we pray for a better treatment we live today. Learn the necessary blind skills necessary to live well with sight loss. As you can see I am neither unable to use a computer or restricted with what I do. The only thing I cannot do for myself is drive. There are ways around that. Pray and work for future better treatment but learn to live well today.
Thank you…
@@monahuntley3961 Thanks..
Wow. So much misinformation. First and foremost this is 17 years ago. Injections are still the treatment for the kind of MD she's referring to, which is NOT the common form of macular degeneration. Everything she is referencing only applies to the wet form, not the dry form, which only affects about 10'% of md patients. (I don't use the term AMD because I was diagnosed with drusen, the precursor of it at age 27). My first major hemorrhage was at age 49. I've had over 70 injections. I'm am legally blind although the injections have helped slow the progression. Until recently there was no treatment at all for the more common, typically much slower progressing, dry type. There is a new drug on the market now that holds potential but has some potentially severe side effects and is not yet well established. More are on the way. I find it hard to believe that someone with the background she claims doesn't know these things. I wish what she said was true but it's wrong from the beginning. Oh, it can also cause geographic atrophy, cellular death in the macula. That's what Henry Winkler is talking about in the ads currently on TV that look like public service ads. They're not; they are done by the pharmaceutical company behind the new drug I referred to. This is shameful.
What is the one Henry Winkler was promoting?
I don't recall. I really like Winkler, hear he's a super nice guy, but the ad is a bit misleading. They never say anything about it being for a pharmaceutical product. However when I looked it up online a big pharma company is responsible for the ad. I have difficulty finding things due to my vision but my retina doc told me that the company that "sponsors" the commercial is the one marketing a new treatment for geographi. atrophy, the subject of the commercial. He says it's very early days and there are a number of questions about the treatment and he won't consider it yet. Plus my disease is genetic and he said the manufacturer acknoledges it may not work at all for that. @@cjaxon2991

all 'answers' come down to take more pills? pills for life. forget a healthy life style and eating right, just buy my pills.
I am suffering from AMD please please give me the details of these capsules and name of capsules

You should also mention CMV is another blindness
Yes maam thanks for this video. I have wet amd on my left eye. Had undergone injection and laser. Im interested of the tablet you mentioned. Thanks much.
How about grounding.with the Earth nature.or energy field from the earth can control the eye Diseases or heal. Through the earth
Lololol.
I just saw this video by chance, I am very impressed with the information and the developmental work you are doing. I have AMD in my right eye and have been having those injections. Thank you very much for your video.
People with AMD need to see videos on Dr Chris Knobbe, an opthalmologist who tells you about the real truth on AMD. You will be more informative than ever
This is all great news!! It would be even better if we could figure out how to prevent these eye diseases in the first place. But, unfortunately, pharmaceuticals would lose a lot of money. I hate thinking this way, but the recent pandemic proved this point to me. Healthcare has become all about the money and not about health........
It's all about diet. No sugars, low carbs, no processed foods.
@@hamstersniffernot really! some patients they eat very clean non smokers and non drinkers🤷🏽♀️
@@jyotsnakothari2141what one considers clean could still be eating carbs and sugar which is in most everything we enjoy.
@@kerrilydell1867 she meant to say that a lot of healthy food nowadays is comparatively void of nutrients
Take a look at OpRegen, by Lineage Cell Therapeutics, under license to Roche Genentech, currently in a Phase IIa trial.
It's going to be revolutionary for a lot of people when it comes out.
What is in the capsule? Eyelea or Vabysmo? Stem cells is the only cure. But big pharma will lose money. Holoclar helps only in Europe
U only talk negative.
MacuHealth or MacuShield, depending on the country you live in and an Omega 3 with a high DHA. This worked for myself and others. Perhaps you should talk with a person who is truly a macula specialist.
Love you🙏❤💞💪Im in my 70's,i will try it OMEGA 3,DHA,THANK YOU
Interesting comment at the end. Perhaps you should cite your sources/studies, etc.
Amen!! Pray this is so!!
Hi guys, Photobiomodulation with low-level red infrared light could improve visual acuity in dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD), clinical researchers say. Valeda light treatment is the only one l belive in the eye clinics now, which stops the dry AMD at that point with around 90% success rate
