Hi, that sounds very exciting!!! I do think that everyone is different of course and experiences things in different ways but if I were to give some general advice or some things that personally helped me throughout the year I would start off by saying to keep yourself educated and updated on international affairs. A lot of my classes referred back to current affairs to elucidate some concepts or theories. This was the most helpful for me during class. I would also recommend you getting “close” with professors. They have so many life or career advice or can guide you into the right direction in regards to a career after graduation. And lastly I would say to start your thesis early. Much earlier than you would think. I made the mistake of not making my choice for my topic earlier. It takes much more time to do research, gather and analyse your data. 🩵✨ Anyways… I hope these things were kind of helpful? Good luck with your studies next year!! :)) I’m sure you’ll do great 😊

Hi, I am thinking of doing a video like this but I’m not sure what to actually include in the video….? My experience was a lot different to my peers and I also came from an unconventional undergrad 😅 But if I were to make a video like this I would do it somewhere at the end of the September or early October since I still have a thesis to submit and defend. Hi, I went to the university of Antwerp for my masters degree in IR and I, shockingly and to everyone’s surprise, studies visual arts in undergrad (something along the lines of graphic design and marketing)! :) 😅✨ I would definitely check out universities in your country and see if any have IR in undergrad but if not I would recommend majoring in either Law, history, political science or something similar to these… A lot of students in my year came from the undergrads I just mentioned earlier :)) 🤍 I hope this helps!!

For world politics and international relations in general... from the top of my head I would say 1) Foreign Policy, 2) Foreign Affairs Magazine and 3) The Atlas Report... Of course there are more region specific news outlets that are better in captioning the nuances going on in the region. But in general I would say that this is a good start. :) I hope this helps... ;)

Hi, in my course I do not really have any STEM related modules. A lot of peers in my class did come from BA (history, social sciences, communications, journalism, arts etc.) However, I am not saying that a BSc would not be helpful at all. There are a few students who did engineering or something similar. What I would do is check with your institution and ask what the admission requirements are for the master in IR. For me, I had to take on additional course work and modules because I had to "bridge" a gap of knowledge or skills that I did not require in my BA. This is a long answer but I hope this helps! :))

I have a few core modules like history of IR, introduction to international economics and international law and then I have the opportunity to pick a few electives. This year for example I chose gender and diversify in the EU and international politics and conflict and security in Asia. It’s a readings heavy course tho… at least for me. A lot of I depend study and readings and a lot of lecture based courses. I hope this helps ✨
