Ducati Multistrada 1200 Fuel Sensor Bypass
This one’s for my fellow Multistrada riders.
After scrubbing the interwebs for a way to stop the annoying flashing amber warning that accompanies the all to familiar fuel sensor failure, I’ve finally come across the an easy and relatively inexpensive method to bypass the fuel sensor. Bear in mind that this should be considered as a temporary measure until you replace the fuel sensor, as this will force a constant full tank to be displayed on your dashboard
Here’s what you will need:
Sumitomo HM-2P connector and pins
Honda p/n: 07VPZ-002040A
KTM p/n: 000700000CK
220ohm 1% 1/4-watt resistor (for FULL reading)
A bit of electrical tape or heat shrink tubing.

Ducati Hypermotard 1100 Exhaust Sound Check - Competition Werkes GP Slip-On + MWR Air Filter
Просмотров 39 тыс.7 лет назад
After months of delay, I'm finally able to post the follow up to my previous sound check video using my newly installed Competition Werkes GP slip-on and MWR High-Efficiency Air Filter. I had hoped to include some riding shots to give you a better idea of how the exhaust sounds under load, but the winter weather has made the roads a bit dangerous. I'll follow up with another video as soon as th...

MWR HE Air Filter Install for Ducati Hypermotard 1100
Просмотров 14 тыс.8 лет назад
In this Install video, we are taking a look at MWR Racing Filter's High-Efficiency air filter for Ducati's Hypermotard 1100 and Sport Classic 1000. MWR claims that the HE filter can net anywhere between a 6% to 13% increase in performance over the stock and very restrictive airbox setup. It has been compared to the DP Velocity Stack kit, as well as the TPO Beast velocity stacks, but at a fracti...
Ducati Hypermotard 1100 Exhaust Sound Check - Stock
Просмотров 7 тыс.8 лет назад
Since it's been really difficult to find a decent sound clip of a Ducati Hypermotard 1100 exhaust, I've decided to go ahead and post my own. Thirteen is currently setup with the stock exhaust, but with the servo disabled and an open clutch cover to provide a little extra rattle. I will be posting a second video in the following week after I have installed a Competition Werkes GP slip on and an ...

Just a quick shot through the back roads of Southern Kentucky! Meant as nothing more than a short intro. Enjoy!
I have this issue with my 2016 xDiavel I wish I knew where to get the plug for it..the resistor is probably different too..
Shit your videos really suck you can't even see what your working stick around for nothing
Thanks so much. cheap quick fix! for MY 2015 1200, you need a 30k ohm resistor.
Problem is still there, my MTS950s from 2019 was also broken…..
Hi, thanks for your video. I did it with exactly the same resistor, 220 ohms 1/4 watt, it works but it indicates that I'm always with low level fuel tank so I always have the orange light turned on... I suppose the resistance is not the good one, do you know which one I should use to have full or middle level fuel thank to avoid to have this orange light always turned on? Thanks for help.
Hey Wingman, just bought a 2014 Multi Pikes Peak. No idea what version fuel sensor i have but looking for a bypass connector. Can't seem to find one and was hoping you may know. Doing the homemade version is something i would like to avoid....thx
How do you put this plug together? Why 1 resistor and not one on each side? What side of the plug do I install it. Does the blue thing on the resistor go inside the plug or does it stick out? When I ordered the 51k resistor I got the 1/4 watt one should I have ordered the 1/2 watt because there are more ohms. I don’t know anything about this stuff . Lastly what I normally do is add K100 to every tank and that works well. However the bike had to sit for a long time and now it’s flashing. Please advise.
Thank you for the detailed solution, I have this issue on my 2018 Multi 950. I bought the variety pack on Amazon but did not have the 50k, so I used a 47k. Works fine shows as 90% full with the lower resistance LOL. Also, I just jammed mine in the female side covered with tape and put the male back in all snug. In case anyone doesnt know you can use resistors in series to get your desired resistance e.g. 30k + 20k=50k or in my case 47k + 3k = 50k or whatever combo you have. If you do them in parrallel it reduces the resistance but you have to do some complicated math. Anyway cheers from Ohio!
Love this! Glad to have been able to help!
did you make a video about changing the fuel sensor?
Not yet. Still need to swap the sensor out. Just need to find the time to do so.
Do you mind if I ask you what the part number is? I’m getting ready to do this job
I had fuel sender drama on my 2011 , two pieces of black electric tape, guess what? No more flashing light 😂in 😂
Thank you for your video! After 3 modern Multis without this issue, my 4th (2016 Pikes Peak with its D series sensor) gave me this issue. Bought a variety pack of resistors from Amazon and found the 51k Ohm 1/4 Watt 1% resistor seems to be working on mine (Full tank, no flashing fuel indicator). Wish me luck!
How do you replace the fuel sensor? Do you need to take out the entire pump assembly? Or can you swap it out solo? I have a M1200S from 2019 with fuel sensor issues. If its just the sensor Ill clean it/replace it myself. If I have to take out the entire assembly and put in a new gasket etc. I will bring it to the garage. I can do it but don't feel like it.
It only happens sometimes on mine
ordered the Honda part number via Amazon, but it didn't come with terminals or the caps. having a hard time finding the right terminals to use (male or female). any leads on that?
I’ve tried to find just the pins and caps for the HM-2P connector, but not having any luck with a confirmed fit. As an alternative, I found this connector that already comes pre-wired and just needs the resistor soldered in. May be worth a shot. a.co/d/b3gmLrt Alternatively, I may still have a couple of terminal pins/caps in the garage somewhere…
None of these videos give updates. Did you ride it? Is it way better?? Helloooooo? Haha
Hey, Dave! There certainly was a difference in power and sound after installing the HE filter. You could tell that the bike was breathing much better with it. I have an update video somewhere that I’ll upload if I can find it. I’d make a new video for it, but the Hyper’s been gone for a long time now.
I'm about to order a G can you confirm the exact part number? My 2010 1200S already has a D so assume the software has already been done for later versions, not cheap but want to replace the faulty one, comfortable with the hassle of the dismantle too
You will want to order 5921.021.2G. This part number is confirmed by Ducati Omaha’s online fiche.
Literally just had this happen to me today, 173 miles each way ride to company head office, that flashing error and no idea how much fuel I had left left me with empty tank getting there and more than enough fuel coming back
Glad you made it to the office! My Hypermotard left me on the side of the road more than once before I learned to not trust the low fuel light. Hope this helps stop the blinking madness while you sort out the fuel sender!
@@wingmansgarage382 she ran dry just at the office car park so had to push her in and go and get a fuel can and petrol to get her started for the ride home, brimmed it on way back and watched trip like a hawk working out in my head how much fuel I should have left
My 2011 did this same thing !!! I put electrical tape over the lights !!!!!😀😀😀😀😀😀😀🏍🏍🏍🏍🍺🍺🍺
Just one important note! If your ducati is an older version (2010-2016), then it is important to use a 50k (50,000) ohm resistor. Because I put on a 220 ohm resistor first, and it didn't fit. There's a light on the fuel reserve all the time. Feel free to put in a 50k resistor and everything will be fine.
I can only find 4.7k or 51k. Which to use on 2013 Ducati MTS? Don't have to buy the plug as i have 3 old sensors in a box.
51k is god. My is same.
Hi I have an older MTS 1000 DD my 7.2 error is doing my head in, I’ve already popped out the two pins in the original unit so I can solder a resistor on and replace them, but what size resistor would you recommend for the older bike? Basically would love it not to show empty, I was told the fuel sensor work from 300 to 3000 ohms, any help would be fantastic
This worked on my 2016 Multi with a D series fuel sensor. Thx!
AWESOME!!!!! I'm glad that it helped you out! 🤜 💥 🤛
Thanks for this video! FWIW, I have a 2016 with a 'D' model sensor and I needed the 50K in order for it to show full. 4.7k gave me 1/2 tank, if that's desirable for someone.
I can only find 4.7k or 51k. Which to use on 2013 Ducati MTS? Don't have to buy the plug as i have 3 old sensors in a box.
Give the 50k a go. I’ve found that the results are dependent on which firmware version your Multi has. I believe that the ‘13-up will read full with the 50k.
Thanks for additional info! I’m sure this will be helpful to another Multi rider somewhere!
@@wingmansgarage382 Amazon has 51k or 5.1K..... Which should I order?
@james Sirianno, order the 51k resistor. That should get you a full reading. At the very least, it will stop the error.
Thanks for the vid! I just ordered one of these filters and look forward to running it. 👍
Could you please send me the link on how to make the bypass plug
Dumb question: how does the resistor go in? There’s two connectors…
I used the 220ohm the error went away but still showing empty
Same for me.
Man. Thanks a lot for that. I have this issue on my 11'' model. Would you make a video how to replace the unit itselt? I heard you need to update firmware via Ducati afterwards
You’re welcome, SuperFryn! You are correct, a firmware update is needed after replacement with the new sender. I’ll post a video once I can get around to swapping out the old sender.
I can make a video of how to put tape over the lights!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🏍🏍🍺🍺🍺
Do it and I’ll share 😂

Hi there, Been looking around for the same exhaust setup, no luck ... could you please let me know where you got yours... thanks so much
Hey Anthony! I got mine directly from Competition Werkes (compwerkes.com). I just looked at their site and can’t find it listed... you may want to reach out to them and see if they can make one for you. They’re a pretty awesome company. I had a weld blow out on the pipe and they fixed it in less than a week.
Thanks so much
which model is this hyper?
bob jacobs This is an ‘08 Hypermotard 1100.
which werkes version did you buy and how did you get it together i cant find a version for this model i want this exhaust under my bike to i have the same model.
@@bobjacobs4535 any luck man ive been searching
Hello mate! Nice HM! Do you got a power commander or did you do any ECU remapping after you installed it?
DavourisRX8 Thank you! I remapped her ECU using GuzziDiag. It’s a free program, but you do need an OBDII to USB cable and a Euro adapter. You can find the software here: www.von-der-salierburg.de/download/GuzziDiag/ It’s amazing how much control GuzziDiag gives you.
Where did u buy the rear rack ?
aronjames pineda It's a Ducati Performance rear rack. You should still be able to order it from Ducati.
Hi, can you please tell me the model of your handguards? Thanks :)
Matteo Giorgi These are knock offs of Acerbis’ Dual Road handguards and were supposed to be temporary.
I wanna play! -Josh
Awesome video. I love the camera angles!
What a intro!!!!!!
how loud is the intake compared to stock?
Definitely louder, but not obnoxiously so. I'll post another video with a flyby and onboard soon!
Sounds good.
Nice Intro !
Nice intro!!! Definitely sets you apart from the rest.
