Eg4 6000xp Connected to Grid (How To)
Просмотров 14 тыс.8 месяцев назад
This is the basic hook up of the EG four 6000 XP to a grid panel, you should always ensure that your panel is configured in such a way that this is appropriate. I attached this to my main grid panel in which my neutrals and grounds were essentially tied, there is a separate procedure to doing this if you were adding to a sub panel please do your own homework. Thanks for watching.

    I’m familiar with the settings for Growatt inverters and wish they had a setting on this one that corresponds to SBU where the grid only feeds the loads and battery charger when battery SOC or voltage is at the low set point. I have a6000XP that I haven’t installed yet and am sure it will do that. It’s just not clear to me yet how to set it up. I set the load priority to EUI 8pm to 6am because I have free at night power plan with Reliant. That supplies the load and also charges the battery. I’m sure the 6000 XP will do all that but old farts like me don’t learn new new things easily.

I already have a transfer switch but my question is, if I want to add solar later and battery only during power failure or high electricity rate period. Can the solar offset the load with the grid instead of using the solar + battery or only the grid if solar isn't strong enough? can it be (solar + grid) -> load? can it be done with the 6000xp or I need an hybrid inverter? thank you

      24v golf cart? Should be 36 or 48 more commonly. I forget what the exact voltage reading is for 36 vs 48v but can quickly google it. You can also check each battery independently to see what it’s voltages fully charged and compare that to what a standard battery of that capacity Would be most typically 8v batteries hooked in series 8.4v or higher for each individual battery

    • @ScottieBMan
      @ScottieBMan 3 месяца назад

      No, you do not need a sub panel between, that’s just how my scenario is. You can connect to your inverter without that, just make sure if you are going to back feed your panel you put a dead man switch in so your not back feeding to the grid.

    • @A.C.71
      @A.C.71 3 месяца назад

      @ScottieBMan Thanks. I had my my uncle look at it, he been an electrician in Colorado for 50 years, he said it's super easy. Just add a 50 amp breaker to my main service panel (had to make room by stacking another low amp circuit to one that could handle a little more current) feed the 50 amp breaker with 6 gauge wire to the 6000xp's grid input..simple. I thought I would have to upgrade my entire service panel but he pointed out that once my solar is running and supplying power from either the batterys or panels, it will be powering a good portion of my electric needs..off grid, so it will be just fine. And yes, the transfer switch I wired to my service panel is a reliance pro Trans 2 (it can run 6 circuits) and takes each circuit over once manually selected, off grid. So there is no backfeed

    • @ScottieBMan
      @ScottieBMan 3 месяца назад

      @@A.C.71correct. You will have to run a circuit from the inverters LOAD back to the panel on a separate run however. But yes that is correct.

    Scott, I APPRECIATE this video!!! Without a doubt this IS the best method of making a "structural sound" 'ladder' type/outrigger type' of 'extended gable ends'. Simply, each chord of the truss is SIMPLY made 3 1/2" 'vertical height' less than the other trusses...as you state. I've watched several 'ladder' nail-ons, and they aren't anywhere the strength of these. There should be a chapter in the 'how to frame' book of how to do this... You just shown how to do it correctly. And in retaliation for wasting my time reading his arrogant comments, namely 'Billy SmackDownTexasTurkey',,,I'm gonna drop my chords 11 1/2" on my gable ends. I'm going to extend the peak purlins out 4'-5' made from 2x12's just to pis'd off 'BillySmakTxTurdkey'. I'm gonna make my rake angle back to 1 1/2' out at the lower end, so the whole shebang will be angled. Like the old barns that had the hay hook and loft above. And I'll make my walls 'vertical level',,,or plumb...just 'cause I can talk that way and know vertical from hostility. "what did he say?". Thanks for your efforts. Hey World, this is how to make a correct 'ladder', 'outrigger', 'extended gable end', or whatever you wanna call it. Thanks Scott Thomas for your engineering and efforts.

      I was able to get it to charge with the “quick charge” functional through the app, I put 1600 work of solar out and can charge my two batteries rather quickly, I would just go with that. If I don't use more electricity than what panels produce, can inverter charge battery instead back feeding? 3. I will start without battery first, can EG4 600xp be used as grid tied inverter without battery? Sorry for too basic questions. Yes u can use as grid tied inverter it is capable of passing grid power through the inverter to power loads without solar input. You will need a battery to use with this inverter. If you produce more solar power than what is required for your panel loads it will charge the batteries yes. I would look at the eg4 wall mount indoor battery that just came out…looks better than server rack batteries.

      I am new as well and am still learning, but to be clear, this inverter will NOT backfeed the grid. You can pull power from the grid to run your home and charge batteries, but you will not be able to send excess power back to the grid for credit from your utility company. Is your Subpanel still connected to the main panel...or is it "off-grid" ? Thinking of getting this exact same system and trying to decide how best to integrate into my home.

      My sub panel is tied into the main box, I would look into getting a transfer switch…Reliance makes a nice one

    The inverter is literally the most important component in a solar system and high frequency inverters are the cheapest form of inverter technology on the market, which explains why no American inverter manufacturer on the market uses high frequency inverter tech in their designs. They only use low frequency transformer based inverter designs.
