OWL Sprinter Van DIY Installer of Ladder/Tire carrier
I finally got the courage to drill the hole in my perfect rear door. That is the hardest part. My van is a 2019 Sprinter Van sold as a 2020 Winnebago Revel that I got only a few months ago. It did not come with a spare tire so I bought a matching rim and tire so if I need to change a tire I can keep going at regular speeds. To be honest, I didn't even check to see if it would fit underneath. I have plans on upgrading the suspension and tires to a larger size so I'd have to do this eventually anyways.

DIY Fast Project - Sprinter Van Hood Struts Install

I wanted to install the hood struts. I can't believe at the cost of a sprinter van you don't get struts, but anyway, I didn't want to pay over $100 for struts as I have replaced many on cars and know they don't cost more than $30 to replace a set. Since this came with extra hardware I was OK with the higher price of $42.33. I also didn't want to pay $140 at some 'other sites', (you know what I'...

    What does this do exactly? I am waiting for my new speaker to arrive and I saw you video. How does it change or affect the sound?

    • @AaronRobertson
      @AaronRobertson 10 дней назад

      From my understanding and research, the wiring was switched. So when the Mercedes system has a message to you it is at a louder volume to be louder than what is coming through the system, but because it was switched at the factory the music is loud and bottoming out the cheap speaker making it sound horrible. Switching the wires makes it the way it was designed. It sounds better but the system still could use an upgrade. New speakers would be ideal along with this basic fix.

      @@AaronRobertson Aaron, thanks for your reply. I have a 2013 Sprinter 3500 with a Stinger Heigh10 head unit. Question: Why not just swap the plastic plug sides? I am sorry, I did not understand which wires you are switching, it looks like you are pulling the Gry/Wht from the black plastic connector and putting it in the the white connector. Then, pulling the GRN/WHT wire from the White connector and putting it into the Black plastic connector? I thought the double wire was an in/out bridge so the door speakers are all playing the same as the center dash speaker? I also have rear speakers in my overhead because this system is in a Leisure Travel Van Unity RV. The sound system is not very good for such a big vehicle. I had a VW Vanagon with an under powered stereo/speaker system. I added a Rockford Fosgate subwoofer amplifier (placed anywhere in the vehicle) that gave the sound I was looking for. ruclips.net/video/cBwuLUL2g9A/видео.html Thanks again for your video. If I have what you are saying correct I will try it.

    • @AaronRobertson
      @AaronRobertson 9 дней назад

      @ so the reason the wires swapped the plastic pieces was because they are of different sizes. Not sure if it was the same for a 2013. I too had an 84 Westfalen and also was gutless. My second campervan was a pleasure way traverse. Same layout as the west y but on the eco online chassis. Loved it, but this time wife really wanted a bathroom.

      @@AaronRobertson OMG. Same situation. I put $80k into my '89 Vanagon with a STI Subaru motor to fix the "Gutless" condition ( I had 4 of different models Multi, Full Camper, Weekender and ended up with the full camper) It was to be my retirement van to drive across the USA and Canada. I had Recaro seats, new paint job from Ceasar @California Westy's, working AC etc. Then my wife says, I don't share your retirement plans......so, I could travel alone or buy something bigger with a shower and toilet. We were renting 40' Diesel pushers and loved some things about the luxury travel but did not like the parking or access into shopping centers etc. We found the Leisure Travel Van Class B+ with a porcelain toilet and separate shower, it was the minimum acceptable for her, meaning the shit, shower & brush your teeth all in one spot bathroom did not cut it!. I have rebuilt just about everything on this 2013 rv and love it. No she wants slide-outs and bunk over the cab with two more beds to bring more people. I said maybe if it gives me all the more modern controls like adaptive cruise control, lithium batteries and auto levelers etc. I will try your wiring when I replace my speaker and see if it makes a difference. The Rockford Fosgate amp/sub really worked well for me as it is smaller, hides anywhere and has great sound. Cost is lower than installing other sub woofers in the cabinets. I bought it online during a sale and had a stereo shop wire it up for $50. Deal!

    • @AaronRobertson
      @AaronRobertson 2 месяца назад

      I think it depends on the slope of your ceiling. The hanging portion fits into a ball type socket so it will hang straight down. But not sure it is long enough shaft for a steep slope.

    • @BigOHavingFun
      @BigOHavingFun 2 месяца назад

      Remember the shaft cannot be any longer as the wire harness has a set length! So if you want let’s say a foot to two foot shaft in order to lower the fan you would need make an extended wiring harness so you can run the wires down the longer harness. I suppose it could work. Just cut and splice a wire extension. Sry just being nosy as I am planning on buying this fan. Just saw it at Costco today it was for $149.99

    Be careful you ever heard of that story of the guy who went hiking all by himself didn’t tell anybody where he was going and a big boulder cell on his arm and he was stuck and you know how he got unstuck he cut his arm off

      @@DIVINGSTRONGER eeeennnnnnhhhhhhh...I heard about that ~ they made it into a movie (I never saw it) ~ what a way to remember a hiking trip by, eh? What a choice to have to make ~ cut your arm off or dehydrate to death. Uuunnhhh...just the thought of it ~ goodness gracious!! 😳😬😰😱

      @@CarolsCurrentObsession desperate times called for desperate measures. Yeah, they made it into a movie. You should watch it in your downtime. It was kind of intense if you like that type of vibe. But what you captured is very beautiful definitely looking forward to the hiking in the future.thank you for sharing

      Yup, saw that movie. Was more worried in other dry overhang areas.

      Moab is AWESOME!! I took my boys several times!! The cool thing was, being rich or not, no issue. Plenty to do that costs little or nothing.

      @@JaneJones-uh5le it's so true! Moab is amazing that way ~ my husband and I have taken our family down to Moab several times as well, and it's so wildly beautiful, and all it costs is gas and food ~ you can hike, explore, even drive and explore (which is what we did this last time, because I'm in a wheelchair now) but even then, the driving tour is phenomenal!
