Brilliant thank you; I watch this video regularly as you are easy to watch, clear in your descriptions, speak slow enough and seem to keep your ego away from your instructions, no easy feat. Credit where due, your tone on your performance videos is intimidating! Self taught and a bit of a hack, I have been playing for decades and have developed many physical ailments with ageing including arthritic fingers, right hip and rotator cuff injuries from a crash. I want to continue playing as long as I can breathe and have always stayed as fit and healthy as possible. I do daily yoga exercises for my overall posture and wellbeing and am wondering if you can suggest more exercises for the whole body that contribute to better fluting. I'm sure you have good suggestions and my right shoulder is looking forward to feeling better already. I have bought a thumb support for my flute. It is very helpful. This video is wonderfully encouraging and I'll watch it many times more I'm sure. Thank you Emily

What contributes to the sensation of breathlessness or shortness of breath during playing, in the absence of having exhausted your air supply? For example, I am playing a slow piece of music with multiple opportunities to breathe, not running out of air, but still feel short of breath. Is this the stacking of breaths and incomplete exhalation? Do you have any insights or tips on how to deal with this unpleasant sensation thank you very much. I’ve enjoyed many many of your videos.

Not long ago, on Mezzo, they showed a lockdown concert of the Concertgebouw, where the flute had a very difficult part, so the camera was almost fixed on the wind instruments. And I felt so proud, because there you were, absolutely rocking it. I felt like the proudest cookie, to know you from your RUclips lessons, to know that my flute playing was from the very beginning influenced by you. I go back to some of your guides again and again, as confusion, tricks and conflicting information out there send me back to the basics, to Moyse, to Wye, to you. And little by little, the journey continues, to the annoyance of my neighbours.

Awesome videoI always learn very valuable music things.from you as well explaining them.I tried the real flute but it's really tough for me to get a consistent sound I play the American Indian flute and I went to the real flute. The harmonica I got to and guitar also the flute is really tough....on getitng Consistency for me.with just working head joint
