Great video. We have reservations for the first two weeks in October. Are the bugs gonna run us out. I was born in Miami but haven’t been back to that area since the 60s. My wife is from West Virginia and I told her the bugs can get bad so we’re hoping for the best. Thanks 😎

We ran our coonhounds off the loop back in the 70s. Also Turner river. Nothing like a pack of hounds running thru the swamp at night.

Used to deliver beer to Joanie’s when it was Joanie’s Kwik Stop back in the mid 90’s. Joan was a super nice lady. I was there when they were filming “Gone Fishin’” with Joe Peschi and Danny Glover. The movie installed gas pumps outside for the movie. I don’t think they’re there still, but Joan had them leave them.

Nice to see some familiar sights! My wife and three of our children spent about 8 months camping at Trail Lakes Campground. We got to know the Shealy's and participated in some "activities" that I won't mention here, lol! We got to know David and Jack well and they're some great people, true Gladesmen! We moved from Massachusetts down to SW Florida in 2004 in a motorhome and stayed in Ochopee until we found a house in Naples. My wife works in medicine, opthalmology, and was hired on to work in the opthalmology clinic at the Cleveland Clinic in Naples before the hospital was sold to HCA and the name changed to Physicians Regional. She moved to a private practice that serves the Naples to Ft. Myers area and she's still there today. We had an awesome time in Ochopee, camping, fishing, cooking meals over the fire, riding ATV's on Turner River Rd. We saw panther, bobcat, just about every venomous snake in Florida and tons of alligators! My youngest son and I were even featured along with Dave Shealy in a Learning Channel documentary on the Skunk Ape, that was a blast! Our children went to school at the Everglades City school for a short time. The teacher/student ratio was unbelievable! Our daughter's class had four students, including her! The commute into Naples for my wife was hard and we had to make the move into Naples. The children wanted to participate in sports and other school activities as well and the Everglades City school didn't offer much in the way of extracurricular activities. It was bittersweet leaving Ochopee, we really enjoyed living the Everglades life and we try to get down there as much as we can, especially, to hit Joanie's for a grouper sandwich and some cold beers! All of our children are grown and they're spread out living from Florida to Colorado. They're married with young families of their own now. My wife is still practicing, but, I'm retired and we both enjoy reminiscing about the time we lived in the Everglades, such great memories! I'm looking forward to seeing more of your awesome local video's, thank you and safe travels! Subbed!

I love to go fishing in the Florida Keys. It's my favorite place. In Naples you have to go 30-35 miles out into the Gulf to find deep water, in the Keys maybe 6-10 miles you are in deep waters.

LOL, never heard of "stuffed hog fish", but I'm from Michigan, are you from Florida, or retied to the state?, the "gators" in previous video's you do not appear to threaten you, or you appear comfortable being so close, nearby....makes me believe you are from the south...I visited Daphne (Gulf Shores), Ala, on the bay across from Mobile, Ala. app. 6 years ago. Checked into the "Hampton" which is located directly on the Bay. Walked out to view, and their was a "tiny" sign noting "gators", I glanced down and they were everywhere!!!!,lol, myself being a naive fool from the north...

Coming from the cold of the Uk it was so nice to visit the keys , I loved feeding the tarpon at Robbie’s with my kids it was quite special ! It’s changed so much since we were there last the kids are all grown up now and left home . The food was great too and we still have some artwork we purchased there hanging in our bathroom and fish fridge magnets on the fridge …great times and memories hopefully we’ll get back there one day 🤞👍

Last time I was in islamorada about 6 years ago there was a car in the fence at woodys bar ! 🤣 I absolutely loved the islamorda fish company wonderful place and the food was amazing we had our last slap up meal there before we came home to the UK hopefully we’ll get back there soon 🙏👍

Love islamorada, the old tiki hut at holiday isle and dancing in the sand at Kokomo are memories I'll never forget.

Feeding the tarpon was definitely a highlight of our recent trip to the Keys! First visit, and we weren't disappointed. Hogfish is really good, had it twice. I would like to come back and do things near where we stay. We took 3 trips, including Key West. 2 hours each way for each trip. Not the best choice, IMO. Thank you for the tips, would definitely hit the Lorelei for breakfast.
