No Crush is definitely not racist. 5 years ago he was given the mask of a famous old Korean character to wear on King of Masked Singer (in Korea producers choose these masks for contestants). There is unfortunately ignorance in Korea about why these old characters are problematic, but it's clear Crush that has educated himself since this happened 5 years ago. Crush was actually one of the first Korean artists to be vocal about supporting the Black Lives Matter Movement last year stating: "many artists and people around the world get so much inspiration by black culture and music including me. We have a duty to respect every race." He was vocal in his support that "It is not enough to be quietly non-racist, now is the time to be vocally anti-racist" and donated to the movement and the George Floyd Memorial Fund.

They only recently got together this year, which is why it's a shame that Kmedia stalked them when they'd only just started dating. But it's good that they've received so much support and so well liked by the general public. Wishing them the best.

I mean all of Red Velvet are great, but if you actually watch their first meeting from last year you can clearly see how enamoured Crush was with Joy (he couldn't stop bowing and was blushing). I actually think it's far more meaningful and very sweet that he was so flustered by Joy when meeting her. Everyone has said (even non-fans) that Joy is incredibly stunning in person and that she has the warmest personality and kindest heart. People often name different ideal types over the years, but as he said last year, Joy is actually his ideal type.

No they definitely weren't seeing each other at this time. Crush was often talking about how lonely he was last year and it was revealed that Crush and Joy only started dating in the last couple of months (hence the pics only being recent). This interview is from a year ago. You can actually tell from their first meeting in the studio last year how much he liked Joy and was genuinely enamoured with her. He kept bowing to Joy and became so shy and flustered but nothing went further at that time. I do think Joy was indeed his ideal type as he revealed later, but it's normal for people in the industry to name others who are viewed as a standard response (you'll often see them name someone older and someone they don't know). It actually shows how much Crush really liked Joy for him to reveal that she is his real ideal type. Most of the time an artist would never name someone they know. Crush saying that spoke volumes. It's cute how the story ended and now they are dating.
