Dyffryn School Demolition ~ August 2024 Update

A massive difference since July's update, whereby all but one of the school's buildings have now been demolished. It's unclear whether they intend to keep this building, and I'm not entirely sure what the original purpose of the building was.

You don't know what your talking about. 1 it's not new it's been open several years. 2. It's a concept store to trial new ideas, and most of these ideas won't see the light of day.

The british government was really out yo destroy wales steel coal .its as if they wanted to punish us and turn us into slaves of the nation .what do we make in Britain now? nothingwe are an island that relies on expensive low-grade imports .if wales opened her mines and steel again we would be a great country far superior to England. Fact .

The South Koreans can teach us how they efficiently mass-produced steel, cement, and ships for commercial purposes. Comparative advantage should lead to Ricardian Specialization.

This was an absolutely crazy period in UK economic history. It was the multiplier effect in reverse. Shutting down industrial plants like the steelworks had a knock on effect on dependent industries which then rippled further and further outward. Whatever money was saved by shutting down the works was lost many times over in the costs imposed on the rest of the economy. North sea oil money should have been invested in modernisation to lower costs and raise the competitiveness of these industries. A lot of jobs would have still been lost but there would have been more alternative jobs for redundant workers to move into and the UK economy wouldn't have been gutted into the debt and import dependent shell it is now.

How can uncompetitive businesses be revived by throwing in taxpayers' money? Marginal productivity only increases with optimal input-output planning and demand forecasting leading to better economic planning and risk management.

@@syedadeelhussain2691 You could stop them becoming uncompetitive in the first place.

so the issue is simple you cant compete with Asia your biggest costs are labor and meeting regulations health and safety and environmental so you go to Asia pay the workers 10%-20% as much as your western worker meaning you get 5-1 and they don't care about the environment and if a worker gets hurt there is 5 more guys to pick up his tools so say you save 50% on production cost and spend 30% of that on shipping you are still up 20% plus the British have a habit of striking when times are tuff Asian workers don't they just would eat a pay cut if it meant keeping a job because a 10% pay cut is better than a 100% pay loss

I believe the last Blast Furnace in Britain has, or is shutting down, so no more steel to be produced from raw materials, so from now on the only steel to be produced will be from scrap which i believe limits the ability to cover every sector of the steal market.

It's closed now. Building a new arc furnace soon so no more virgin steel in port talbot! The place has never brought me a living and I'll be glad to see the back of it!! Sacrificing the locals health when 80 percent of the town has never worked there! Money earned there is spent out of town, so good riddance to it!! Let's concentrate on our amazing coast and start using that to bring money back to the town!!

It’s sad to see how downhill the town has gone in 34 years. As someone who’s travelled a lot around the UK this has happened everywhere.
