Jazz Protective Services - Night and Day demo
Просмотров 17615 лет назад
Here is a living room recording of a jazz project I was in for a time. I discovered this online and couldn't help but notice I wasn't credited. So to set that right, here is Night and Day performed by Jazz Protective Services. I'll even credit everyone: Bass - Jim Lownds, Fiddle - Elisa Miro, Percussion - Oscar Antepara, Lead/Rhythm Guitar - Phillip Murray, Lead/Rhythm Guitar - you know who.

A serious and professional rehearsal from 1989
Watching this you wouldn’t know this guy has a multi-octave range.
Jesus started with 4 companions and then reached 12... With that voice, how could it not be?
Jesus Christ !!!!
The best version of this song is still the version by Sandie Shaw, still, Ted would really knock it out of the ballpark a few years later in Jesus Christ, Superstar.
Until recently, I never heard this version of this song. I like it way better than the 80s version.
Ted Neeley, the eternal Jesus Christ, was an excellent singer.
(There's) Always Something There to Remind Me" is a song written by American songwriting duo Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Originally recorded as a demo by Dionne Warwick in 1963, "(There's) Always Something There to Remind Me" first charted for Lou Johnson, whose version reached No. 49 on the Billboard Hot 100 in mid-1964.[1] Sandie Shaw took the song to No. 1 in the UK that same year, while the duo Naked Eyes had a No. 8 hit with the song in the US two decades later in 1983.
Oh wow JESUs!
I remember the song but not the band
Country singer Hal Ketchum has a version of this song that is more of a ballad feel to it.
Ted Neeley used to call himself Teddy?!
A good song is a good song--whether in the 60s or 80s.
They're so square it hurts.
Lou Johnson released the song in 1964. Besides writing the song with Hall David, Burt Bacharach conducted, arranged and produced this version. Dionne didn't release the song until 1968. "Though he never achieved major stardom, Johnson was the vocalist who introduced both this familiar Bacharach-David tune and their “Reach Out For Me,” plus he also recorded an early version of their “Kentucky Bluebird” (aka “Message To Michael”)…all before Dionne Warwick and others later succeeded in turning those titles into best-selling hits. Burt himself produced, arranged, and conducted this version. In 1983 the song finally achieved a top-10 ranking on the weekly U.S. record charts with the Naked Eyes hit." 80s. Jesus. I'm having flashbacks & I'm not doing anything beyond grokking this video!
When the remake is better than the original.😅
Yeah the 80s version was much better
This is sooo much better than the remake! They're not even in the same ballpark.
Holy crap, it's Ted "JC Superstar" Neely!
All the time watching this I was pondering: 'Who is this guy? Don't I know him from something?' Very nice rendition!
The 1980’s version is a lot better! Just my opinion.
I gotta say Naked Eyes did it better.
Rhythm guitar guy, stealing the show
And his height
I knew nothing about him in this mode, only as Jesus in the film version of "Jesus Christ, Superstar"!
Reminds me of the furnishings they use sell at Goldblatts
80 s remake much better then this.....in my opinion lol
Ted Neeley has the most beautiful 😍 eyes. I was little when The Smothers Brothers was on. Cant tellya how many times i watched Jesus Christ Superstar. I still have the album
What a great voice! I saw this episode on TV in the day!
Believe it or not, you almost certainly **didn't** see this episode during the original run of the show -- because it was the episode that CBS banned and never broadcast! According to IMDB, it never made it to TV until 1993.
What the $%^& is this? It looks like the Letterman trying to be a rock band. Barf!
The remake by Naked Eyes is so much better.
I like Naked Eyes version more
JHC!!! 😂
THATS why he looked familiar JESUS!!
Did they write this song? I never knew that Naked Eyes covered this song. Was this a big hit in the 60s.?
Sandie Shaw had a top 3 hit in the UK with it in '65...
JESUS CHRIST! 😮
Is no one going to mention the Mosrite guitars?
He was always a teriffic singer and a looker ! That's how he got "Jesus Christ, Superstar!"
I always thought this was a Naked Eyes song. Thank goodness for the internet!
Actually goes back further than this- was originally a hit for Dionne Warwick, written by Burt Bacharach & Hal David.
I've seen Ted Neely portray Jesus twice on stage! One of the greatest and most underappreciated vocalists ever!
I was also lucky enough to see Ted Neely onstage in Jesus Christ Superstar twice and one of the times was with Carl Anderson as Judas before he died.
@lmswords The last production I saw had former Living Colour vocalist, Corey Glover as Judas.
@@lmswords It may have been Anderson the first time, but I don't recall.
This is first thing I’ve seen him in other than JCS
I was today years old when I found out this is a cover.
I only knew the Naked Eyes and Dionne Warwick versions. Never heard of these guys.
I was today years old when I found out this is a cover.
Read this episode was pulled before broadcast due to censorship controversy but finally aired on E in 1993
Jesus, this guy is good.
holy crom. i thought this was ai
He was fantastic! I remember we used to sing along with that song on the radio when I was a kid, but I knew nothing about his looks or stage presence - Zowie!
He's still amongst us ...
This one’s a cover too? Jeez. My childhood was a big lie!!!!
I just wanted to hear the song from the 80’s that I loved so much, and BAM, it’s Jesus, himself! Lord, you are sounding and looking fine, amen❤
I don’t know about that “Jesus” stuff now.
@@Capcoor Ted Neely portrayed Jesus in the film version of 'Jesus Christ Superstar'. Personally, I've seen him do two stage productions of that show.
@@aisforapple2494 Oh snap! I didn’t make the connection. Thanks for pointing that out.
@Capcoor Glad to be of service. ✌️😎
Geez it took me a few moments to realize who this would be known for
I loved the Naked Eyes version when I was in the army in the 80s, and I never even knew it was a cover! WOW!!! Unfortunately, this version isn’t even on Spotify, but the Dionne Warwick version is.
