Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden, a Super 8 Film
Super 8 film shot in August 2024 at Miami's Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden using a Nikon R10 and Kodak Vision 3 50D film. Getting used to this camera and missed the focus a fair amount but the place still looks lovely on this bright and sunny day. The backing music track is "Fly Away", written, performed and recorded by my dad, Stan Young.

A short film showing an afternoon with the family at Crandon Park Beach on Key Biscayne, August 2024. Shot on Super 8 using Kodak Ektachrome 100D with a Canon 514XL. The backing music track, "It's Great to Feel the Sea Again" is a song that I wrote and recorded several years ago using a Moog Voyager, Gibson J200, Gibson SG and Kong Minipops SR-120. The song includes audio samples from the 90's ...

This film was shot in August 2024 using Kodak Tri-X film that expired about 25 years prior. The music is an original composition created by me using a modular synthesizer. Processing and 2K scan by The Negative Space. If you have a good eye you will notice that the film gate changes halfway through the film. I had forgotten but the first half of the film was shot with a Canon 514XL and the seco...

Every time I hear this, after listening to Crazy Frog, I just say ding ding
all the gear no idea !!!
Similar with a guitar controlling an EMS VCS3 as an effects unit and not a guitar synthesizer Like u can create some wah and phase effects with that
Very cool. I’d love to play with a VCS3 some day.
@@retrokraft ah same here
I love the custom repaint of your MS-20
Thanks, but not a custom job. Green was an option on the full size reissue that came out a few years ago.
So cool
Thank you!
Wish I had a Nikon r10
No hay que apurarse tanto para filmar cómo conectamos los cables. Primero hay que aprender a tocar
could I also hook up my phone? Id love to run some tracks from it through the synth. Do I need a special cable or will a patch cable do
You could hook up your phone to the external input and process sounds using the envelope and the filter. You would just need a 1/4 inch adapter to connect your phone’s output if you were using the full size MS-20.
@@retrokraft aye thanks
I love it!
I wouldn't have bothered, it sounds crap!
Nice
Doesn’t sound good thin and bright!
so I really need one of these my wife thinks you in advance
I like the ammunition can green housing of that synth
I agree the green does look cool.
Do the matching green patch cables come with the special edition, or did you score those somewhere else? They seem perfect.
Yes they do.
Can’t decide on a j200 or hummingbird, i mainly strum. Any recommendations.?
great !!
I Like the Sound of the Vermona twinCussion ❤
Con cuerdas nuevas sonaría mejor!!!
I TURN TO HER AND SAYY.....
OOOOh , i would be VERY careful with voltages going into the CS15 . . . . .jus sayin , ALWAYS GO KENTON . . .
The most important rock song ever made
Sometimes a song is born that perfectly encapsulates the time from which it came. Or so I’ve been told.
I’m basking in the 90s indie fuzz. A little bit of Pixies, a dash of weezer, some pavement?
Thanks dude! High praise to be mentioned in that company.
Sounds good Josh.
Thank you!
Don't sound like a j200 is that one of those copys
At least you enjoyed it !😶
Wearing a watch whilst playing that 🙈🙉🙊
What is a beginner doing with a J200? You must be a wealthy man, more power to you I guess
What a curios question! Why not a J200 ? I would argue that the better the guitar, the greater the incentive to learn to play it. I’m sure that Gibson don’t require a level of proficiency before they (or their agents) will sell you a guitar.
Well that’s kind of a douchey comment :/
@@PineMountainMusician spoken like a true beginner
@ I’m willing to admit I am not a great guitarist, I’ll be the first. I just think your comment, and subsequent reply, is kinda douchey
@@PineMountainMusician having a terrible instrument growing up motivated me to practice until I could afford something American made through gigging. It took me 10 years. Keep crying I guess
Wow. That was very underwhelming.
Enjoy your day.
@@retrokraftThanks for being polite.
I acquired the Synthstrom Audible Deluge OLED one month ago. It is already my favorite piece of electronic music production gear. It seems to play nicely with everything!
Congratulations--you will love it I'm sure. It is an awesome tool. I recently got mine back from the OLED updrade. Synthstrom is a great company.
Very cool. The black cable in the signal out on top, is that where the guitar goes? or is it the bottom external signal processor signal in?
Oh wait I see now. This is MS20 not MS20 mini
@TheViolinRoom yes, the plack cable is the signal out. The guitar plugs into the external signal processor.
@retrokraft I tried it last night, but no sound came from me strumming. Gonna try again today and figure it out. There shouldn't be much difference between ms20 mini and ms20. It's just that ms20 is slightly bigger.
@@TheViolinRoom it should work with the mini. The settings on the external processor have to be tweaked just right for it to work.
@@retrokraft Awesome. I'm gonna give it a go.
but cs15 is hz , and s trig ? . . .
That’s correct. With the deluge you can select Volts or Hz/octave and S trigger or V trigger so sequencing any vintage synth is a cinch.
The best of both worlds!
That would definitely sound more like a Sammy Hagar solo track than a Van Halen song through that M-20. Now, if he were to play Why Can’t This Be Love, then it would sound like a Van Halen track for sure as long as he got close enough to that patch Eddie is running his Oberheim with
mmmmmmm Close Enough but still Very Good!
It's a synthesizer with an elegant sound!
Yes, it does have it’s own unique and beautiful sound.
Would you say it lacks bass? I've seen several reviews on this guitar, all opinions point to the same, the materials are so thick that the body cannot resonste freely. What is your opinion on this?
It is not the bassist that’s for sure. More on the bright side but it does have a beautiful tone that to me sounds full. I’ve heard that due to quality control issues there is variability from instrument to instrument some years. Mine is a 1990, early output from the Bozeman factory. It has aged nicely. I think if you like the sound and the way it plays go for it, but there are certainly a lot of amazing guitars you can get for similar money or less and if bass is your thing there are probably better options.
🔥🔥
Thanks!
A word to all of you who know jack shit about synths, who are trashing the guy...shut your trap, you can't even switch one on, let alone get a sound from one, let alone play it.
keep working on the patch, and the notes. We all start somewhere
didnt work for me :/ sheeeit
Green?!?!?!? What the heck? What am I seeing here? Is this an old one or is this available now? LOVE that color!
Yes, the green is rad. Looks like a piece of antique military equipment. It's the Korg MS-20 FS (full size). Released a couple of years ago with four options including green, white, blue and the traditional black. If you search for it, you should be able to find it. They're still available I believe.
This is RAD
Thanks!
As it turns out, this is the perfect music for navigating Sunday morning city traffic. I love it.
Thank you! I really like how it turned out. I feel like it works as an interesting combination of melodies and rhythms but also works well as background music.
Reagalame una 😢
Such a beautiful guitar played by a great player!!!
Thank you!
Interesting. Can you trigger one oscillator with the keyboard and the other using a CV in sequencer? Or do you need to use CV in for both oscillators to get a duophonic sound?
Good question. I don't think so, but if you figured out how to do this let me know.
Sounds like its from some mario knock off game. Lol fail
Horrible!!!!
Nice one man ! all the sound are coming from the Yamaha ? and did you use just a normal Jack - Jack to connect it with the sequencer ? I have a Cs15 and I'm thinking about getting a sequencer ! Thanks for the help
Thank you. Yes, all of the sounds are from the CS-15 except for the drum track which is from the Synthstrom Deluge. I used the Deluge to sequence the CS-15 is CV with a separate sequence for each oscillator voice. CV outputs on the Deluge or 1/8 inch so used 1/4 inch adapters to connect to the CS-15.
@@retrokraft Thank you for the reply I just managed to get one VCA to work but I think I'll need a jack splitter to get the VCA to work !
sickkkk🔥
Thank you!
