To the North Star by Anne Crosby Gaudet
Sweet tune! You've inproved amazingly , over the last year. Your playing is smooth and steady. Good job, Harper! 🎶🥰🎵🎶
Are you playing a wire strung harp? The sound has a little something we don't usually hear. Thanks for playing! 🎶🎵🎶
No, it’s a Dusty Strings FH36 in walnut. It’s nylon strung with some metal wrapped wires in the bass. Dustys are often described as having a “bell like” tone. When I procured this harp, I started playing it almost exclusively, and decided to sell my pedal harp as this harp has the tone I love and many styles of music from Celtic to pop to classical sound good on it. It’s an old harp, but it was rarely played by owner #1 and had settled well into its depth of tone by the time I got it. I got it for an absolute steal and I was grateful as I don’t know if I could ever afford a new one!
Gorgeous!
@@shannoncooper9711 Thank you for stopping in. Yes! Brook Boddie created an amazing arrangement of this piece!
Was ist ein Dornwald? Sweet tune. 🎶🥰🎵🎶
@@mikesoule1352 it’s a forest or thicket of thorns. Dorn=thorn. Wald=forest/woods
This is a tune I've never really loved, for some reason, but this arrangement could possibly change my mind... 😊
@@RJ-444 I agree. Not a huge favorite tune but I like how the arranger here kept things in the low, resonant parts of the harp….but ugh…the risk of more buzzing on those low strings!
Oh, this is beautiful... nicely played and another tune moving near the top of my rather large 'to learn' pile! You find such great pieces, Shawn. Thanks.
@@RJ-444 I have a small pile of her arrangements. They’re nice and she often calls upon some harp special effects in her writing. It’s way too easy and instant to acquire sheet music these days! I have too much to learn and never really learn things very well. Such a difference from 25 years ago when there really wasn’t music to download and it all came in books through the mail and you never really knew exactly what would arrive!
Love this! Your videos always inspire me to keep learning the harp!
@@shannoncooper9711 thanks for stopping in and glad to inspire you to keep going!
I love this arrangement by Tamsin. Great to hear you play it, Shawn.
@@RJ-444 It is really nice! The Carol is beautiful just on its own but her introduction and interludes create some more interest.
Beautiful
@@wonderousharpbymichellevelvin thank you! Anne has beautiful compositions!
I love when youtube plays my pieces to me again❤ your playing is delightful
@@wonderousharpbymichellevelvin All of these are great, creative, original compositions. I love the ones that have levers set in unusual ways and exploit the use of the lever harp that can’t easily be done on a pedal harp.
@PastorShawn100 that's what I love most about the lever harp. It can be extremely creative!
Nice to see another video from you❤
@@wonderousharpbymichellevelvin thanks for stopping in! Advent started yesterday so the plan is to add a “one -take” meditative piece daily. I post them to Facebook first then store them here to notice progress over time.
@@PastorShawn100 excellent! I think you've definitely been making progress❤
Können sie auf der Harfe auch Roller von Apache207 spielen ^^
It could probably be arranged, but I am not a very great or inventive arranger of music!
Very nice rendition of this beautiful carol, Shawn. Might I recommend my favorite version of this arranged by Sunita; it’s a bit of a challenge to learn but well worth the effort, imho. It’s a pdf on the harp column site and there is a nice video that comes up if you google it.
@@tiapatty5021 thank you! I have Sunita’s arrangement in a collection called “Christmas Eve.” I didn’t look into those pieces for this season but I just read through it and I can put it together fairly quickly, I think. The first few lines have some interesting harmonies in the arpeggios that are sort of unexpected but it should not take long to get used to them! I started off this season of releasing daily ‘one-take’ music meditations with this simpler one. As usual, Angi Bemiss doesn’t disappoint with fairly easy arrangements that are ‘just enough’ to sound great and full.
lovely
@@bonnie_gail thank you for listening!
Was searching for the pronunciation of Dearnley, and came across this video. Loved it Sir. Thank you.

Thanks for stopping by! Shawn
You’ve inspired me to learn this one! Thanks!!
Inspired me so much, that I went to my harp and played it. Very lovely song.
Excellent! Thank you for listening and I am glad I could inspire some music making! Some day I will try to find the other arrangement that is a bit more filled out for the bigger harp!
@@PastorShawn100 I do a semi glisss with it. Been working on some Christmas carols lately. " I saw 3 ships" Angels we have heard on high" Inthe bleak midwinter" Carol of the bells etc...I have to get in the right moods to play harp. I may go quite awhile before playing and your song here got me motivated. That tune is pretty and got in my head and about drove me nuts LOL
Hello my new friend ,This is very Good & Well worth a thumbs up.🪗🪗🪗Mick.= 10
Thank you for listening!
Oh, beautiful!
Thank you for listening!
Lovely playing! It sounds great! (and your background has changed, it's nice to see you in my homepage feed again) 🥰
Thank you! This is a nice, relaxing piece. Some day I’ll record the more filled out version on a bigger harp. I was in the community room of my office here on a weekend so I could spread out! I’m putting together my pieces for Advent and Christmas now, so I wanted to get in the habit of recording and posting!
@@PastorShawn100 Wonderful! I think your playing is sounding really good. You have been improving throughout the year.

Thank you for listening! Barbara Semmann has many nice arrangements of carols in her "Nativity Carols" books!
Very nice. Is this from Deborah Friou’s Renaissance book?
Yes! It is from that book. There are lots of great pieces in those books!
@@PastorShawn100 thanks!
Wonderfully and emotionally performed!
Thank you for listening and for writing this beautiful composition (and offering it on Musescore for free!). If you would like to give me your name, I can attribute it to you better, though you might want to just keep it at FAW. Thanks again!
Great job Shawn!!!

It is! Anne Crosby Gaudet is a wonderful composer of accessible, beautiful pieces!
You played that beautifully.
Thank you for listening!
<3 I think you're very handsome!
Thank you!
Thanks for your videos, Shawn. You have a gentle approach to the music and to your playing which I appreciate. You have led me to some lovely music for my repertoire and opened an international harp world to me, Many thanks!
Thank you for listening. There is so much music out there for lever harps now for many skill levels. I remember when I first started, choices were limited and it took a while for orders to come by mail. Now, downloading pdfs makes sheet music easy to procure, and fast!
Nice video, i surely hope you become successful in life

So beautiful!!

Very handsome Shawn! I would like to know the brand of your harp, the model and what type of wood it is. You have a pretty harp with a great sound. Thanks in advance !
