How does Tony Richie relate to Donald Bowdle's book, Redemption accomplished and applied?
The two books are from different generations. In general terms, Dr Bowdle represents the Reformed tradition, and Dr Riche represents the Holiness Tradition. Dr Bowdle represents first generation Pentecostal attempts at systematic theology and Dr Richie represents a more mature and distinctive Pentecostal Theology.
@@ProfLRM then I assume you would say the same for Hollis Gause's textbook Berkhof Systematic Theology? Are these past generation texts?
@@charlespage8728, Berkhof was not a Pentecostal. He was Dutch reformed, and he wrote is theology in the 1930's, almost 100 years ago. However, when I spoke of "different generations" I was referring to Pentecostal theologians. As Donald Bowdle was attempting to write a Pentecostal Theology that would accord with the Princeton model, the Church of God was trying to conform to the National Association of Evangelicals so that we could gain respectability. Gause, being in a similar situation as Bowdle, used Berkhof for several years. However, Gause transitioned back to his holiness roots and stopped using Berkhof. Later, he wrote his most influential book, Living in the Spirit: The Way of Salvation. Gause, therefore, led the way forward for Holiness-Pentecostals to develop a unique soteriology. I hope I have answered your question. If not, let me know.
