    good vid, shame about the result.. subject for me too far away, and no separation... its lost in the frame. I just reviewed your website.. .you have some good work, and appreciate you using film... keep it up lol But... can't appreciate them really cause the images are so small. I would review and look to make them larger.. you can't be concerned with images being downloaded or used etc.. and i see your site is squarespace, and you can stop that from occurring anyway :)

    Have you found any limitations on your 4x5 using a 6x17 adapter back? I am looking at one and possibly a 120-150mm lens to pair with it. I hear there are focal length limitations with the adapter over say a Shen Hao 617 native camera.

You'll find there is no darkness that the light of love cannot reach into. Talking to another person who is not yourself is key. Bring all the dark thoughts (especially the ones you think you cant possibly talk about because they are so weird, violent, stupid, whatever, (this is where a professional counselor is good because they provide a safe place for you to talk and you can't say anything they haven't heard before) etc etc) into the light and they dissipate

    I wanted to have a love relationship with the X100VI. Was on the waiting list to purchase the X100V for a year when Fuji announced they were discontinuing the manufacturing of that body. I preordered the X100VI on the first day of the announcement. I learned there is a million orders for the X100VI worldwide. After 10 weeks I cancelled my order. It is now a hate relationship. Fuji doesn’t want my money. I purchase a Sony A7C with a 35/2.8 lens. Like the X100VI the A7C is small and lightweight. With the lens I paid $400 less than the X100VI. I now have the camera. I won’t have to wait a year to receive the body. I have a full frame body with better autofocus than the X100VI. Maybe the A7C with the 35/2.8 will turn out to be a better purchase for street photography. I wonder how you were able to get your hands on a X100VI while so many of us have had to wait. I done the other Saturday, harbourside, centre, Corn Street market and into Broadmead and it was really buzzing! Give me a shout next time you are up. Ace lil'walk about, good to see a bit of Brizzle. Are you into the X100-6 hype or feel its over priced? I ended up filling my personal/family snapper slot with a Panny GX85 (US version so has unlimited 4K recording so can be used for weddings as a peculiar angle or back up) and super impressed with it, it focuses, interchanable lenses. All for under £270 with kit lens, perfect for Bristol 😂 can take it anywhere.

    I think you missed an opportunity there to showcase the tree in its environment, instead of a close up portrait? It could be any tree anywhere... so not really telling a story. Not sure what lenses you have.... why didnt you include the whole pool of water and so the reflection isnt cut off? Compositionally, its too tight and unbalanced.

  • @stevef2114
    @stevef2114 2 месяца назад

    the first shot is quite nice...not sure about the others.. no idea of your previsualization and why you wanted to take the shot. what is the image saying... what are the relationships of the subjects, texture etc... you said nothing on this. Also... you mention exposure triangle at the end, but in the first shot, you changed the aperture of f11 to f16 with faster speed film.. not sure why.. your focusing at infinity for that photo, dof you said at the beginning you wanted the scene to render soft with the mist and fade away? for the wind.. a faster shutter speed would of been taken care of with film choice.. why you stop down for??!

    at 13:49 you forgot one other benefit of 4x5" cameras, that when you buy the camera body, you are getting a t\s lens for free (as you can use ANY lens for t\s affects), as it's built in to the body, NOT the lens!, so you aren't stuck with an expensive tilt lens that you don't like the perspective of, you can change perspectives, but keep the tilt effect capability.

  • @andyvan5692
    @andyvan5692 2 месяца назад

    one thing, with asa 400 don't you need an ND filter?- to kill the glare off the water, and as it is technically a 'high key' scene.

  • @lensman5762
    @lensman5762 2 месяца назад

    Nice compositions. If I may just say that your exposure placement is almost there, but coupled to what I can assume to be ' standard ' development it has resulted in a bit of a flat scene. The way I would have done it is to place the brightest clouds on a Zone VII ( whatever you meter reads from the cloud + 2 Stops of extra exposure ) while making sure the shadows do not fall below zone III ( Your meter reading - 2 F Stops ), and then give the negative N+1 development ( Normal Dev time + 15% ). This way you would have had full range of tones in the negative, and then you can print it or scan it the way you wanted. Its good to see you back photographing.

    Nice pictures. I just bought the Shen Hao 6x17 field camera. Did consider getting just their back for a 4x5, but mine isn't great and I decided the additional movement offered by the non folding version were worth spending money on. I've only just started to figure out how to use it and have to say it's pretty awesome. I got two film backs with the purchase, no idea why, I certainly didn't pay for an extra one. The only reason I can think of is I went through a real importer instead of Ebay or Amazon because no-one talks about two backs being included. It cost a little more that way because tax and import stuff was in the price, but those film back are a thousand pounds each and I got two as well as a spare ground glass. For the time being I'm shooting mega cheap film through it so my inevitable mistakes don't cost me too much.

    i shot that film so far only in medium format, so i am quite astonished how much grain in comparison it has in35mm. i think the 800iso decision wasn't ideal as it is normally at boxspeed quite contrasty in my experience. the light leaks, I think are either form a back leak, but more probably from loading in enough light to get the transparent base to interfere. i would not say its a total write of, I would use most of these todo lofi-cyanotypes for example. anyway thx and hope u are to demotivated by that little hickup.

    OK, one problem at a time. Rollei 400s is coated on to a clear acetate base. This is because these were originally AGFA Aviphot areal reconnaissance film. Clear acetate acts as a light pipe, in fact Rollei suggests that the film should be loaded and unloaded in very dim light. So I think a lot of your edge brightness on the film is due to this. Cover that peep window at the back of the camera too to avoid light leaking through there. You know what film you already have in there. There is ample evidence of uneven development in your photographs. This is something that you have to sort out by trial and error. More agitation, a different developer, different dilution or even soaking the film prior to pouring the developer in might help. Now the biggest problem from my point of view. For the sort of street photography that you do/we do under the horrible UK light, the choice of Rollei 400s is a bad one. I am not gonna get too technical here, but these films were designed with extended red to near infra red sensitivity to penetrate the atmospheric haze when doing areal photography. They are not really true 400 speed films. Technically they are around iso 160 for pictorial purposes. So when you push it to iso 800, you are actually pusing the film over two full stops. I would choose either the HP5 plus, or better still the Kodak TmY-2 Tmax 400. This one can easily be pushed to iso 800 using something like Ilford Microphen and you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference. On the odd ocassion that I have used Rollei 80s, I have had the best results fromusing Atomal 49 1+1 @ iso 50. I have never tried Tmax 400 @ iso 1600 so no comments there. Other than these , the photographs were great themselves.

  • @chriscard6544

    the big stain, my assumption, is because of loading the film onto the reel badly (so developer didnt develop that part)and the other problem is a back leak for sure. (sorry for my bad english)

    I have had similar shutter "issues" with both the X100T and X100F cameras I have owned in the past. I typically shoot with the LCD screen off and use just the optical viewfinder and once in a while do not know if I took the shoot of not after pressing the shutter button. I sold both and got a Leica M8 with a shutter that sounds like a car door slamming so easy to know if I got the shot LOL. Later went with an M9 which was much quieter but still no doubt whether you took a shot or not.

    Welcome back, good to see some more content and if you ever want company whilst up in the Oxford area, always more than happy to meet for a coffee with the camera. Whilst I've plenty of film cameras in all medium, and I'm actaully waiting for the wind to drop so I can venture out with my 4x5, I too put may name down for the X100VI and I'm still waiting! It appears the black only model looks to be in more demand, as I've seen far more Black and Silver models in the UK... Andy, couple of questions - was that the Nisi lens hood? and another random question, what size Shimoda Action X bag do you use to fit all your 4x5 stuff in? Toying with getting the 70 as I also want to transport the 6x17 back.
