I I am not convinced he did not have thin gloves on. He would need then to be small so he could still feel. When he turns his finger the skin without gloves would be pinker then on top but his skin on his finger is the same as the bottom of his finger. Yes their are drops that are used to numb the surface of the actual eye but not really for the surrounding skin. As an ER RN. I used the drops often when we suspected a scratch on the cornea. It was helpful if we needed a piece of dirt etc adhering to the cornea. Then a dye was put in so we could see the scratch. I don’t think it would work on the lid itself and never saw anything except administering lidocaine with needle and that would hurt a lot more then one push to open the cyst. Not sure but just from experience. Could be totally off base
