Water feature made in my studio in Cornwall

This water feature was made on my kick wheel using local clay and glaze ingredients. The glazes are tenmoku & nuka. Nuka is made utilising ash from our wood stove. I take orders for bespoke ceramics of all kinds

My humble take on a great Gallagher & Lyle song that I first came across in the surf movie Free Ride.

A very large bowl thrown with 16lbs of Dobles clay on my kick wheel. I use a chuck on the wheel head to raise the bowl to make shaping easier.

Handling in the studio. I always pre-pull my handles. My aim is to keep a dynamic spring and flow to the handle

Lovely to watch. Must be difficult kicking the wheel & concentrating on the pot, impressive.
Hi Jay, not as much as you’d think. Leach wheels have a lot of momentum so the kicking becomes second nature.
I know this is a pretty old video, but if you see this comment, I would like to know if you hollow out the base/stem when trimming?
No trimming at all! I like to have everything pretty much finished straight off… the weight in the base is reassuring! 😆
continue doing this
hi
Very nice. Pretty handy to have all of those pebbles close at hand too.
Cheers Jeff, yes we’re blessed with two coasts within 10 minutes very lucky!
Nice fish! I fondly remember fishing for those off the piers around Plymouth. It would be especially fun in a kayak. Only eight years to get a comment on this video! Congrats! I am envious of your life choices (where you live, your profession, your ability to jump in a kayak and fish as shown here). I was born and raised in Plymouth and now live about 4K miles West in the USA. No salt water for a thousand miles.
Couldn’t cope with no sea! Yes the pollack are very reliable round here and are good to eat. Just getting back into the season now so it’s kayak time.
Ha fatto ad ingobbio vero, è una spatolina o un pennello quello che ha usato per il colore chiaro? Grazie e Buona Pasqua
Hi, yes I made the enrobe with iron oxide. I used a custom made rib to create the light areas. Thanks, Adrian. Happy Easter!
Thank you for this. Superb economy of movement. Really inspiring! Would you be willing to comment on the process of pulling the rim down (which you kindly showed from two angles)? The little rising area ( I don’t know if it has a name) between the flat surface of the plate and the rim- you seemed to be creating/holding that distinct from the rim with the end of your index finger as you laid it down- is that right? I am still very much learning with plate shapes.
Hi Melissa, thanks for your comment. Yes, I like to create an extra curve to define the rim from the base of the charger. This can be enhanced using finger tips or a metal rib. It’s important when folding the rim down on a very large dish to keep things as dry as possible helping to give the rim section strength. I hope this is helpful, best wishes Adrian
@@adrianbrough3835 Thank you.
Wow that is phenomenal!
Proper job and just in time for tea and Archers
Yep! Part of my daily routine!!
Wonderful, thanks.
Love the casual way Radio 4 is playing in the background!
It’s an R4 workshop!! 🙂
It would be much more intersting if the artist spoke a bit and much more enjoyable if the background ladies were quiet! How impolite.
Thanks for the input, I’ll try not to be so shy 😆
that handle looks fantastic, thank you for your videos, they are most instructive
Sorry, just saw it’s a pound,
It's truly the best way to become a competent potter :)
Hi. Nice form. What weight of clay do you use for these? I would like to have a practice.
Beautiful! Where can I buy your stoneware?
Hi Linda, the best thing is to check my Facebook page facebook.com/adrianbroughpottery It’s my most current platform and you can always message me if you see something you like.
Proper job
Looks gorgeous
Thanks Tsetsi!
Is that the sound of a broken bearing?
No, it's just the noise Leach kick wheels make
Adrian we have linked your RUclips channel in our description in our video about the bowl we found thanks again for your help 👍
