Jennifer Balsamo
Италия
Добавлен 15 мар 2020
After Graduating in Painting at the Liceo Artistico “A. Caravillani” in Rome, I attended the three-year course in Art Tapestry at the “Scuola di Arti Ornamentali San Giacomo di Roma”. I was at once taken by the possibilities of creative expression and the chance to experiment both in materials and in shapes through the work with fibers in weaving tapestries.
The process of weaving a tapestry on a vertical loom takes a long time. It’s made of many layers of colors and different fibers that overlap or concatenate. Strings of thread can come out from the flat ‘canvas’ as if they were floating, then it becomes a three-dimensional artwork. There are endless possibilities to explore within the art of weaving. It is a permanent and personal discovery.

The Clove Hitch Knot in Tapestry Weaving
Просмотров 7 тыс.4 года назад
Introduction to a simple way to begin a tapestry. The clove hitch is considered as one of the most important knot, which is two half-hitches around an object (in this case we pick two warp threads at a time and we wrap around). Is a good way to begin a tapestry, it keeps secure the weft and it won't loose. If you have any questions, please ask! Write it as a comment below. I ALSO OFFER ONLINE C...

Color Transitions in Tapestry Weaving
Very good guidance. I appreciate. We can collaborate.
What weave are you using?
Jennifer at the top right corner of the videos you briefly show a black and white drawn picture of the join you are working on. Where did you find these pictures? They are so helpful to me to see it drawn like that.
:3 thank you for this!
Do you do any tapestry advising?
Can this method be used on single warp weaving frames? Or is it only suitable for double warped frames?
Thank you, your video had just the right balance of qualities to make it the easiest for me to follow compared to the others I have seen.
why not hang the fired, painted sculpture from the tapestry??
Did you wet finish before or after tying the damascus knots?
Thx for the easy video and closeup!
Happy to hear !
Me Encanto....Gracias Sweetheart
A pleasure :)
Thank you for demonstrating the Damascus edge. I just finished weaving a rug and did not know how to finish the edge. Your explanation is clear. 🤗🤗🤗
Glad I could help you :)
Tapestry weaving is a true art form. This skill is really hard! That's why I love this technique all the time you discover new possibilities! 😄
I loved your very clear instructions, without any fluff (music, chattiness, etc.).
🤩👏
I don't know how you get the thread on the needle - it looks so short.
Hi Josie, threads are long enough to get into the needle. Just leave them at least 4cm each of them... if are too short you just: 1. get the needle inside the weft first, 2. get the thread inside the needle and pull.
@@wildtextilestudio thank you!
Grazie mille video molto utile e ottimo consiglio le ✂️!!!
Thank you!
Good job jenni brava👏👏
great piece. love the open warps
thanks Vicki.
👌🏽🌸🌸🌸

Thank you Nance!
Good job jenni keep it up 👏😁
thanks so much Alea!
Good job jenni🤩
yeah and please share on your facebook :D
What an interesting way to use pick and pick. Thank you.
Happy to help!
Thanks for this video , showing how we can use 2 colours in the pick and pick in a different way. Keep safe. From England UK xx
Appreciate your comment:) Keep safe too.
Those are “string heddles”. Also commonly used in “backstrap weaving”. Any type of heddle creates a shed (an opening) that one can put a shuttle through (in the case of rigid heddle, backstrap, or complex looms), or manually, somehow, put the yarn through for tapestry weaving. A very nice, well photographed introduction to basic vocabulary for new weaver’s, especially those tapestry weaving. The wording does need a little editing to make some small corrections.
Thanks so much for your feedback Eliza :) I didn't know that. I'll add a correction right below :)
🙏🙏🙏♥️♥️♥️👌👌👌👌💯💯💯
Are you using cotton weft?
Yes is cotton and also wool. The light blue is wool
Great video! No waffle and very clear! Perfect
Grazie mille era da un pò che cercavo questa tecnica, ottima, chiara e coincisa!

I would absolutely love to learn more about this type of weaving. Beautiful work! Thank you for sharing!
That's great video.
Awesome tutorial to make it.

Brava👏👏
I just use a latch hook around one warp
Hei Vicki, is cool that you can do this. I would know more about it. Can you share your knowledge with us? :) plus: I made another video more accurate about the pick and pick technique. You can check it here: ruclips.net/video/i-LemOrtsd0/видео.html
@@wildtextilestudio I wove a face and was trying to figure out how to do the strands of hair
thank you very much for this instruction. I look forward to more demonstrational videos.
Thankyou for these videos
Glad you appreciate!
This is super dope
ahah, is because of the music on the background
what if you only need three of the ten pulled warps?
Hei Vicki! Thats a good question. Just pull the warps ---> pick the threads you need, ---> drop the others. I can send you a short video if you need also. :)
@@wildtextilestudio well, post a video not just for me, but for everyone who watches. I would like to see it. I am amazed you needle weave such large tapestries
