Nice explanation with examples, but Im not so sure on handle type being that substantial on play development, I owned a few cheap balis and both sandwiches and channels develop similar play. With cheap ones actually sanwiches are preferrable because you can screw them down after developing play to minimize it, while most channels are bolted and thus unadjustable.
