Fishing the Kolan River, Bundaberg - Fishing Miara

Went on a weekend camping mission with some mates to scope out some Mangrove Jacks spots at Miara. We had a few good hits with no hookups unfortunately but we did manage to have some good sessions on some smaller GTs and Queenfish. What a great little spot, we'll definitely be back!

Always amazes me how juvenile GTs will take such big lures comparatively to their size. This little grunter was voracious!

I was struggling with my maps not working on a recent trip to Lake Monduran. CMaps didn't show a body of water at all until I turned on the Genesis layer. Just my luck I figured it out at the end of my trip.

This is a video of a recent trip over to Moreton Island. There for work so I was unable to fish as much as I wanted to. Met some good people and managed an invite out on a boat where we caught a couple of Snapper.

This was the best day of the fishing trip. We had fantastic weather for the majority of the day so we hassled the Captain for a spot that held big fish and hopefully, a Red Emperor. Let me tell you, we were not disappointed. We caught everything we were after and more! So sit down, grab a drink and enjoy the video. Good work dude. Nice fish
@@stevenjohnson2313 hey, thanks mate! 😊
56cm ( are you also Aussie???!!!!)
Yeah mate! Aussie.
I live in Morten bay
Wow nabbed the biggest flathead I’ve ever seen, right at the end of the video!
Cool video, interesting commentary and a great look around the beautiful local water surrounding Russell Island!
Lucky day to be man
The place is very cool for fishing friends, your enthusiasm for fishing mania is great,👍
Moreton bay? Looks offshore!
Thats inside mate .
Great video. Thanks for sharing. Could you tell us your hook size?
I use 7 O circles. BKK or Black Magic seem to do the job.
Awesome effort mate. Was that your first one ever? Man you kept pretty calm after losing that first fish. I would have dropped a bunch of f bombs lmao
Yes mate, first ever! Could you tell?? Haha 😄 went a bit crazy with the celebration. Mate after losing that first one I was ready to give up, I saw it and it was a donkey! Persistence paid off in the end though!!
That chick caught a great one!
Thats where the big deep hole is, isnt it? If so are you casting into it and how deep are you going?
We were fishing shallow mate. Not in a deep hole.
hi
its me roger
good job aiden
THANK'S for going to the trouble mate good vid, interested in how you rig your Herring live , through the mouth or in the back just wondering if they swim and stay alive better one way or the other. Be HAPPY ON YOUR FEED BACK. Cheers Chris PS, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
WELL done guys what Lowrance unit are you running looks like it has sidescan ? Cheers Chris
Lowrance Elite FS7, it has side scan and works brilliantly. I have some great screen shots of Thready's down at the Port of Brisbane.
@@browndogsfishing THANKS for the feedback i am looking at the moment to get a sidescan unit, i am running a Lowrance unit without the side scan , could i send you my e mail or phone # i would love to have a look at your screen shots. Cheers Chris
What land spots can u recommend in Macleay mate? New to here n need a boat lol
There are lots of good spots of the Island. There are two really nice sandy beaches you can fish from. One is nice and shallow. Great for whiting, bream and flatty's. The other side, which has the netted off swimming area, also faces Straddie with nice deep water. Can catch anything from Snapper to Mackerel. Then you also have the old jetty, next to the ferry pier. People have caught just about everything from there. My Dad lived on Macleay for many years and my family would visit most weekends. I have been lucky as my Dad always has had a 30 odd foot boat. Always a bay chugga. Our last boat was The Beatsy. 35 foot 1978 bay chugga. Loved that boat. My Dad died a couple of years ago now and I couldn't keep up with the work needed nor the money needed to keep her. It was a very sad day seeing her go. A lot of our blood sweat and tears went into that old girls decks. Ive never had to fish from the Island myself but I know many that have and do and they say its worth the time.
Keep these videos up loving it 😍
Great vid. Just wondering if you could recommend any spots to pump yabbies down this way? New to fishing on the southern part and curious where are some spots to look at.
Long island on the low tide however, I don't know if you'll get many in winter.
@@browndogsfishing thanks mate. appreciate the advice
Nice catch.
Great vid guys! Im doing a swains trip on big cat reality later this year, any tips on numbers of lures to bring? Stickbaits, poppers, fish traps etc. Was thinking around 10 of each, more stickbaits say 15 sinking, 10 floating. What do you recommend? (Or anyone else that's been!) Cheers
Thanks mate, cracking time out there, hope you smack a few!
We didn't have alot of luck on lures, alot more bait fishing. We did get a few on soft vibes like Zerek Fish Traps. Flasher rigs worked really well.
@@browndogsfishing thanks so much for the share mate, appreciate the info! 🤞we get a few good fish!
Didn't take long to load up with some bait. Nice job!
nice throw mr. policeman
Good video, horrendous music. I couldn’t watch to the end because of the music
Thanks for the critique. I had to put music on the video because we were listening to music on the dory and RUclips would have given me issues because of copyright.

There’s been some pretty good fishing around the port of late but still haven’t found those darn threadys.
I have found a few, can see them clear as day on the sidescan. Just can't get them to bite!
Good vid except the shit music
What boat ramp is that one? Good video man 👌
Thanks mate, that is the Port of Brisbane boat ramp near Brisbane Water Police.
Great channel love the content
Hey mate, thanks for the vote of confidence! Stay tuned, there is more to come!
Thats a big tailor!!! Noice! 👌
She was a good one on a double clutch! Mate who caught it had it for dinner.
👍 🇱🇰
You do what I used to do! 👌 heaps of threadies at Eat Street ;)
Shhh Sonnie, it's a secret mate 😂
Sup
Please allow me to attend, listen to my boss, how to trip the fish, it's always a success, anyway, greetings to one hobby 🙏🙏
Hey mate what lures were you using
Hey mate, mrbait.com.au/online-store/ols/products/2-x-troll-pro-k-5-rigged-trolling-boards That's what I was using. They are like candy to the schoolies. Drop in and see Frank if you can get to Hemmant, you can't go wrong! Best of luck Browndog
Nice fishing... 👍
Thanks mate!
6mins, 8:20 and 14min for the hookups 😉
Haahahaahaa your camera makes it look like your using surf rod's...
Hahaha yeah definitely not surf rods mate.
Those westerlies are a bit shite. They are always stronger than the forecast first thing in the morning.
hey nice vid are you using sinking or floating minnows
Hey mate, thanks. Using floating ones I believe. Nomad DTX 100s.
@@browndogsfishing nice they are my favourite barra troll lure aswell
Hey man any chance I would beable to tag along one trip with my boat
Sure mate, I do shift work so when I head out is a bit all over the place. Look me up Browndogs Fishing on FB or Insta for messaging purposes and we'll sort something out.
Most f(??&?!! irritating with those noisey reals !
Cool Fish!
It’s good fun paravaning. Never did understand using rods though. You have to hand line the last bit anyway and the transition allows them to get some slack. I just use 2 x 100lb hand lines with 40lb from the board to the spoon. Tie the line off to a bollard and they go back to the same spot everytime. No need to stop if one pops either. Just launch it in.
That makes alot of sense. We just didn't have hand lines.
