I have been very blessed to have the opportunity to learn from Marcia in International Student Ministry, she is a wonderful leader and coaches eager newbies on how best to work with international students. As you progress, she does not micro-manage but is always there with encouragement and advice as you need it. Working with International Students, is truly a joy. Everyone is excited and you do not need any special skills to help people become conversant in the English. They just need someone with whom to have an English conversation. In addition to the "English as a Second Language" classes, Marcia also organizes bible classes where many students who have never heard about Christ learn about him. It is a most humbling and exciting experience to be working with international students and may possibly be the closest I will ever come to the types of conversion experiences, I read about in Acts. Many of these students eventually return to their native countries and often seek out and share the good news of Christ; Sometimes in countries that are hostile to the gospel. She also sets people up to meet with individual students to help them improve their English skills and potentially talk about Jesus.
