Hi. Do you happen to know if MUD taxes are also exempt for 100% disabled veterans?
Depends on the Municipal Utility district, but in Texas as far as I know, 100% DAV’s do not pay any property taxes no matter the taxing authority including MUD’s. You can contact your specific MuD and verify. Thanks for your service!
DR Horton builds plain Jane houses. Looked at them last year and years leading up to last year. Daughter and son in law bought a Crown by DR Horton. Very nice home with flare and detail. But the ones they are building now are just shit. Small bedrooms. No flow to the living areas. And then the sales agent got an attitude. DONE! Bought a Stanley Martin home.
Nothing better than seeing empty beer cans on the job site, says much about the builder and the crew, which also reflects on the quality of the job.
Jumping to conclusions. I'm on a framing crew, and we build the nicest houses in Western PA. And maybe once a month, sometimes more, a fella will bring in beer for the crew, sometimes it's the homeowner who brings beer. We cut out a half hour early and act like friends. No harm done. You might come along later and see our garbage in the garbage pile and bad mouth us for no reason

hi DN, The tax reduction is usually retroactive to the beginning of the year if you file before April 30th in most Texas counties.

Sir, I just bought my home in June 2021. Do I have to wait until Jan 2022 to file my Homestead Tax Exemption? Also, I am 70% Disabled Veteran. Do I need to fill out both forms?
Thanks for your service to our great country! Yes sir, you do have to wait till January 2, 2022 to file your homestead and DV exemption. Depending on the county, they may allow you to file your DV exemption asap! The homestead can only be filed between January 2nd and April 30th of each year.
Am I able to submit the application before I close on the home?
Hey Miguel, You can not file your homestead until after you close on the home. If you close in 2021, you have from January 2 till April 30th 2022 to file . Most counties will not allow you to file in the same year you buy your home. Always check with your county tax appraiser/collector for most accurate info.
We are building our own house as owner/builders, and I sure wish we had access to someone like you. You have a very practical way of explaining things. Our inspectors are great, but we are reluctant to ask too many questions. Nice video!

Fermin, Thank for your service! No sir, you have to close on the property first and then you can file for your Service connected disability property tax exemption with your county. Texas counties vary as to when they will allow you to file. By state law they have to allow for the exemption filing between January 2nd and April 30th. Call your county tax accessor and ask if you can file as soon as you close on your home. 100% service connected disability means you will pay no property taxes. Good luck!
