The BLACK Betty Boop? Baby Esther, Helen Kane & "I Wanna Be Loved by You" | Single File
Word on the web is that Betty Boop was really a black woman-but the story isn't really that simple. Helen Kane jacked her swag, but was it even her swag to begin with? And why does the internet keep getting the story so wrong? Watch and find out who the original "Boop Boop A Doop Girl" was and if it's a case of cultural appropriation, swagger jacking, or something deeper.

But there are multiple versions of the song in both English and Spanish and multiple...

"Through the Wire": How Kanye's Near-Death Experience Kickstarted His Career | Single File
Просмотров 101 тыс.4 года назад
Kanye West is a world-changing genius who has irrevocably changed the music landscape. But for a brief moment, he was hip hop's most unappreciated producer. And for an even briefer moment, we almost lost him. While we often struggle to define a single, career-defining moment in West's career, the one that changed the course of his career-and music as a whole-almost ended his life. A car acciden...
"What'd I Say": How Ray Charles Married Religion and...Doing It | Single File
Просмотров 4504 года назад
"What'd I Say" by Ray Charles changed the music landscape forever by combining gospel music with the blues. When soul music was still in its infancy, Charles brought it into the mainstream and laid the foundations for the future of rock and roll. But for an entire decade, white America was completely unaware of Ray Charles and his genius in the making. He dabbled in imitating Nat King Cole, but...
"You Don't Bring Me Flowers": The Unauthorized Mashup That Went #1 | Single File

Neil Diamond and Barbra Streisand's mostly forgotten duet, "You Don't Bring Me Flowers," is probably just a 1970s pop artifact to you-that is, if you know it at all. But the story behind this song is a lot deeper and it's actually one of the earliest examples of a "viral" pop song mashup. #NeilDiamond #BarbraStreisand #YouDontBringMeFlowers CHAPTERS 00:00 - Intro 00:45 - Background 06:32 - Comp...

I love the facts he points out. White people have always stole swag and music from black people. I'm not black or white but I see see the truth and that truth still exists til this day. Adios
great video deserves more views
Amazing story about the song! Great video
Just take your hat off or turn it around.
Thought you were going to play it. Now I really want to hear the original mash up!
Nice artwork in your clickbait, did you have your four-year-old do it?
I thought it was kinda cute, making her a little cross-eyed.
A very good history of the song, thank you. HOWEVER, "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" has never been considered a duet in the traditional sense. I'm fairly sure it is credited as "Stevie Nicks with Tom Petty." A better choice as an example of a monster duet would have been Streisand and Donna Summer, "No More Tears (Enough is Enough)." The two biggest female singers of the decade.
now just a minute i just love you dont bring me flowers and i never ever thought it was CHEESY🙂🤔🙂
Little Esther started the boop boop be doop. Marilyn Monroe performed it so much better in Some Like It Hot.
False
Where did you see Little Esther performance? I can't find it.
I know you are talking about the los del rio version any chance you have the los del mar version (the video) where the two beautiful women are dancing by the billiards table ?
White peoples always copy black peoples culture
White peoples always trying to take credit from black artists and white wash everything.
Not blacks or Africa American BUT ISRAELITES OF THE BIBLE GOD OF THE ISRAELITES AKA NEGROES ARE THE CHOSEN PEOPLE
This was so well done! Thank you! Barbra Streisand skips this entire story in her memoir, "My Name Is Barbra." She doesn't even name Gary Guthrie, which I found very off putting. Thank God for RUclips and creators like you. ❤🔥
Actually Streisand does tell this story. Read it again!
She doesn't even mention it?? The surprise appearance on the Grammys? Supposedly rehearsing on the phone the night before? I've got the book, but am not up to that point in it. I'm kinda pissed. I think she has intentionally snubbed Neil over the years. Should have done a few concerts with him. It would have been amazing.
In her last concert tour, 2019, she told the story of how the duet was originally put together.
“Kanye doesn’t have enough life experience to rap” God- “Aight bet.”
It seems mind boggling that everyone thought he wouldn’t be a good rapper because he wasn’t from the hood. Hip hop didn’t start as gangster rap. Pac and Biggie really did shake up the genre I guess
I never cared for the duet; especially after hearing Streisand's lush solo version on her Songbird album. Diamond's part has always been disruptive to me and completely unnecessary.
Neil Diamonds original solo version is my favorite. ruclips.net/video/DdEmWjQVt78/видео.html
TY; too many forget.
Thank you so much, I'm currently writing an essay on the contributions of women to the civil rights movement and this video has greatly inspired me
Extremely informative and interesting video! Has helped a lot with my dissertation, thankyou!
what a fucking bunch of lies, the remix was made by a spanish electronic duo very popular back then called fangoria, the only thing that Bayside Boys added was the english version of the lyrics to the “Macarena Re-River Remix 103 BPM”
Well said!!!!
OMG! Get me handkerchief. 😢
bruh just say people in paris 😂
It's still swag jacking Pharrell Williams Lost some major lawsuit from Marvin Gayes estate for swag jacking so it has legal precedence now. you can't just swag Jack somebody make money and think you will walk away Scott's free that's done all over the Internet including on tiktok and white people find intellectual ways of looking at in different ways and over explaining it and reification of the points to make it seem like they are not stealing what is basically intellectual property and claiming it's theirs it's still swag jacking buddy. Elvis Presley is a swag jacker. dancing and singing and personality he's a total swagger bandit. the most recent form of swag jacking is reggaeton.
If Kanye west did this crap again then he would of died in hell that's where Kanye west is going to suffer the pain in hell
THis was excellent! Great job! Your delivery is perfect and your detail is exemplary. Thank you.
Hell Pale face always copy Aboriginal dark Americans Indians in everything damn near, especially the musical, dancing arts. Facts!
Great video
I was in 9th grade for these songs. My takeaway: love Mariah and these were some of her best years. And I'm sad that Nsync didn't have more songs in the top 40 but at least they were number 3 and ahead of Backstreet Boys.
Loved this video.
Apart from Eminem Rap isn't my thing, except Kanye. Mr West is a genius 👏
No it was when he said george bush doesn't care about black people
Come back to RUclips bruh ur videos are great
Nothing about the River Re-Mix by Fangoria, from 1993? I read that there was a lawsuit about that, and the Bayside Boys remix. And, about the covers and parodies, there was even a Sesame Street version, (which I like to call "Macarena (Sesame Street's Rock Mix), since they replaced the dance beat and synths with a rock beat and guitars) and a Macarena version of a Disney song. ruclips.net/video/FRTwArE5urY/видео.html ruclips.net/video/3AH7lwV8Q_g/видео.html
the fairytale about how that dude came up with the remix is sooooo far fetched and extra even before knowing it’s nothing but a bunch of lies lol
RIP Mike Triay :( Also, I find it interesting that the female singer wasn't originally Carla Vanessa. Although, since they didn't mention her until they started talking about 1996, I'm wondering if there are two versions. (one with Patty Alfaro, (1995) and one with Carla Vanessa, (1996) even though they sound like the same singer.)
I've been saying this ish.. Ye been a Genius🙏🏾
gean green was not scatting, that's not what scouting is. he was doing something else. Louis Armstrong is the king of scatting he was one of the inventors
Thank you for this video!
The game and 50 cent had a near death experience to before becoming famous to. Makes you wonder who they met in that period and what kind deal they made with whomever to get what they now have..... crazy......
Thank You!!!
i want think write something i want get out my chest for my boyfriend blaine kurt from glee
Show us the old cartoons; Not ur opinion or commentary.
I knew this long ago and by logic. Kane sure took the gimmick from Esther. But Max took Betty from Kane not Esther. So. . As a cartoon enthusiast. I always saw the narrative Esther is the black betty boop not accurate. In my view. We all make and benefit at he end. Technology for example. So on.
the immense jawman
this is great!
Earned my subscribe! Very well done video
Thank you for a great job! People are destroying history so it can be rewritten and it is frightening. Best wishes
