There's a reason why Janeway can't reciprocate Chakotay's affections. All Starfleet captains are ordered to destroy both their ship and all documents if a hostile force boards and cannot be safely repelled. This is called the omega directive. If she was to have a romantic relationship with a member of her crew; it would undermine her ability to maintain discipline within the ranks and make that decision to destroy the ship if necessary.
Kathryn Janeway would never have stood for anything so the song doesn't quite fit her.
The show should have ended with them together alone falling in love and getting married with the last sean having Janet saying shes pregnant then thay hugg

It was always because of Starfleet that she couldn't act on her feelings, or his its always been obvious that Chacoty was in love with Janeway (more than once he brings up the what if they are stuck with it taking 70 plus years till they get home he makes the common obviously people will pair off, has she considered that would she consider it...) kinds of laughs it off... So many times he implies then there's what happens on that planet there is no implying it is very obvious.
I laughed a lot when they were lost on that planet, having been infected by a virus... he really liked the idea of playing Adam and Eve lol! He seemed to enjoy being there with her and didn't care as much as she did about coming back.
I've said this often enough but those two should have been left on that planet where they were quarantined for at least another six months....to 1year it would have been so much more interesting it would be more than likely they would have had a kid together.
I never liked the song until now now it’s great and you know what they should have left Chacota and Janeway longer on that planet. The story should allow them at least a year they’ve had a kid it would’ve made things a lot more interesting.

Jack and Janet were the best! It’s hard to imagine John Ritter being 74, which he would be if he were still here. I just can’t picture him being that age, although, Joyce Dewitt is 73, and looks fantastic still. She’s still beautiful. The aging process has been very good to her.

The chemistry between them was seen so much on the show. Jack was loyal and super supportive of Janet, Chrissy, and Terri. Mostly Janet. He was always calling her "babe", their friendship was honest and true and so beautiful.

The characters had a deep love between them that laid groundwork for a blossoming romance. I hope more Jack and Janet videos get made. Please let people enjoy a different outcome for these two characters. It's abundantly clear that the overwhelming consensus, (whether on here or any other platform discussing them) is that these two should have ended up together. It's an uphill battle. The producers gave you your preferred result with Threes a Crowd (which bombed) so theres nothing to debate. This coupling is what should have happened. Especially when that view is shared by Joyce DeWitt, herself. She knew "Janet" more than anyone else and saw this as a natural progression for the both of them. Show runners make mistakes and this was one for the ages.
@@yagga5262 People can enjoy whatever fantasy they wish, ie: "freedom of thought". I understand the happy ending ever-after mentality...it's partly what motivates us all to get up everyday. Despite "freedom of speech", presenting dissenting opinions is not always advised, even in America. So perhaps better to watch "Married with Children" episodes, as that's what married Jack and Janet would have devolved into. Those characters were NOT romantically compatible for the long term...That's part of the foundation of the series. for the writers, It was designed from the first season. Personally, I liked the series as it was, even with the truncating ending. As in life, not every relationship pans out.

John and Joyce had a major falling out in season 8 when Joyce learned that only John would be moving on to Three's a Crowd and they would not be including her. But they eventually were able to reconcile. And both of them many years later reconciled with Suzanne. John and Suzanne reconciled on a phone call shortly before John's death while Joyce and Suzanne reconciled on Suzanne's talk show, Breaking Through.
